Such a cool place! I visited the Michelin Raceway recently as my cousin was set to race in the MotoAmerica Superbike Speedfest competition. Prior to the invitation to be a spectator, I didn't even know that this place existed but why would I? I'm not a super fan of bikes or racing, I barely like to drive, but I am definitely in the minority as this place was PACKED. I always forget how big and devoted the racing community is. Totally makes sense that the track would need to be in the boonies because they need all of that land that they have, and more! When we arrived, I was incredibly impressed with how organized and official it all was. When you pull in, there are a number of attendants in booths that check your ticket and parking, welcoming you in with your wristband and any other items needed for the event. We then passed another access point with an employee who waved us through. What I wasn't expecting was the insane parking and navigating through the area. Again, there were hundredssss of people there with bikes, trucks, RVs, etc. etc. My sister and I searched for parking but even with help, we still had no clue where the best place to park was. Although we had some sort of special paid parking that we covered in advance, there wasn't any blatant signage that helped us find where we should go. As I was 2 months postpartum upon our visit, the idea of parking back in the woods and walking 2 miles to find our family sounded terrible. At some point I threw caution to the wind and parked in one of the grassy lots that I believe belonged to participants, but I was willing to take the risk, lol. The section where all of the participants and their teams dwell was such a busy area but still well-organized enough that it didn't seem congested. We stood in a grassy area behind the fencing and were able to see the bikers up close and personal as they bended the corner, a high-anxiety moment filled with lots of excitement! Beyond the race itself, there were over a dozen vendors serving up pizzas, sweet treats, beer, liquor and more in the main common area. Along with the bites and bevvies, there was a small carnival-esque area with rides for the kids (and kids at heart) to burn some energy. As this was a family-friendly, 3-day experience, I thought that was such a cool addition. What I noticed most as we walked the grounds was that it was incredibly clean out there! With so many people in town for a multi day event, I'm incredibly impressed that they even had the streets tidy. Although I'm not a racing enthusiast, I really enjoyed my time with my family out here. Beautifully laid out, clean and full of thrills, totally worth the drive from ATL! read more

Came here for the Lexus performance driving school. Facility pretty awesome. It's pretty much most of the nowhere staff that works here has cooks, cleaning crew, and all other staff are extreme friendly. Breakfast was not really big. A little bit of options we're healthy enough even for a gluten free people. It was so good and also lunch was phenomenal for that chicken. Place is well maintained even with free wifi as recieption is spotty. I had a very good experience. read more

Disclaimer: review for Autocross event Road Atlanta is one of the most iconic tracks in the Southeast. Came down for an SCCA Autocross event so can't elaborate as for on track experience. This was a parking lot event; however, event was well marked (check in; where to proceed for event etc). Restrooms were clean and the facility was easy to get to from the west where I drove in from. Would love to make it back for an on track and spectator event. If you're into racing; this venue is not to be missed in the SE!! read more

This is road Atlanta! Been coming here since 03 when I moved nearby and many of my sons friends will work paddock or other jobs. Petit Lamans this weekend , came for qualifying and should be a great race. It's always packed here so be patient and aware of traffic and where to park . Great motor head location, eat first - water is not cheap so come enjoy the fun. Used to come here in the 80s for rock concerts and smaller races but iconic either way! I have been to other tracks around the world. So far this track leads them all in customer service, staffing, fan appreciation, cleanliness, and every other aspect that I observed. Although the team I was routing for did not win the race, it was by far the best track experience I have had. Everything was top notch. Every staff person I encountered was friendly, and eager to help with whatever was needed. One exception was a rude parking attendant who clearly had no idea what he was doing. The parking issue was quickly resolved once we talked to the staff inside. I would recommend this venue for families and individuals as well. read more

I'm shocked that I haven't written a review yet for a track that is so loved! Road Atlanta is a beautiful track that appears to be managed well. They did some construction within the last few years and upgraded the tower, which makes a lot of sense since IMSA uses this track a lot! There are ample bathrooms/portapotties and trash cans around on race weekends. There is also a small restaurant in the pits where you can get your food fix if you didn't bring your own cooler with goodies. 100% recommend coming here to watch a race if you are into that type of thing! If you're in a racing community, you'll likely love this track. read more

I love Road Atlanta. It is for sure one of my favorite race tracks in all of the United States. The first time I visited Road Atlanta was in 2004 for the inaugural event of the Formula Drift Championship. I've been back many times since. So many great memories were made at this track. I actually like the restaurants in the area too, although there aren't many. Cracker Barrel and Zaxby's next to the freeway exit are pretty legit if you don't want to go to Waffle House. Anyway, I stumbled upon this SUPER COOL video from a Can-Am race in 1972 at Road A. The vibe at the track in the 70s looked so cool! RA is in my backyard and have gone to a majority of their events as well as time spent on the track and love it! But today was the first time I called to order tickets for the Petit. I've never been created more nicely than the initial call taker and was extremely impressed and happy with talking to Abe. He helped me tremendously and couldn't be any nicer! Somehow, despite a bigger than ever crowd, Road Atlanta handled this year's Petit Le Mans flawlessly. There was somewhat of a canopy policy in effect now, but it was definitely not enforced. Apparently where we set up was meant for handicapped visitors, but when you befriend people parking right behind you and have a canopy, it's not much of a problem. I think the actual rule is first 10 rows only in the 10a-b turns area and they must be taken down overnight. Yeah, there were plenty up on Saturday at 6am at an empty track. Note to people who stand around waiting in line for port-a-potties along the main road: get to a bathroom faster, and get some exercise: just head down the hill towards the paddock area and there are legitimate bathrooms that are constantly cleaned that never have a wait. Still ridiculously easy to get out post-race, and the new radio station for the race coverage works even better. Sad it's over a year until the next Petit Le Mans :( I can't wait! And yes, it is happening, whoever started this "last year of Petit/American Le Mans" stuff is a jealous bitch. I for one love having ALMS coverage online especially since I can just watch a race later. read more

I have been going to Road Atl for years and it has gotten so much better in the last few. The facilities have been upgraded, roads paved, easy access to the garages, open access to the cars the hour or so before the race, Petit LeMans, they even offer shuttle service to help get around the infield on race day. With all the improvements the crowds have grown every year, that's good and bad what I really don't like is the expense of parking in the infield. It's $50 per car. This is a ridicules amount. I was just at Daytona Speedway and I only paid $15 for infield parking for 4 days. There is no way Road Atlanta can justify that insane amount. Parking cost almost as much as a Race ticket cost! read more

By far my favorite trace I have been to in the 2010 season...Its very clean, in the woods and out of the city which is really nice. While our drift session was on break they had Petit LeMans qualifying, that was alot to fun to watch. Attended the Petit LeMans with my bf here in November. The facility was well prepared for the massive crowds. The shuttles were a nice touch for people that were tired and ready to go home when it turned dark and frigidly cold. Lots of food and alcohol vendors. Pricy of course but that's to be expected. I think one cocktail with a single shot was $12. In a regular size cup similar to a red Solo cup. But that's the vendors issue. All in all I would return if I was interested in racing, we really went bc we have a friend that works there that helped us get discounted tickets. My bf grew up in Braselton and had never been to this huge race. It was an experience for sure. read more

Dear Road Atlanta, Your racetrack is truly an asset to Georgia. Only an hour drive (less if traffic is better) from Atlanta and nestled in the hills of the mountains, it's always a treat to enjoy a day wandering around the track listening to awesome cars go zooming by. Now that y'all are owned by GrandAm, I would like to see some improvements made. At Petit Le Mans this year, your announcers continued to tout this as the best course in the American Le Mans series. If that's the case, y'all can do a bit more to make life easier for race fans. The course is definitely not ADA compliant. We parked in the gravel lot near the walking path to the vendor village, but my poor mother-in-law with her broken foot had a hard time moving around the course because of all the hills and rocks. Please spend a little money to pave a walking path around the entire course of the track. While you're at it, build a few more bathrooms instead of port-a-potties. No matter how you dress if up with a sign labeling "rest room" it's still a stinky can. The real facilities (though few) are adequate. And please, PLEASE, build a real bar/restaurant. Nowhere at Petit Le Mans could I get a mimosa yesterday morning! The food stands were overpriced with a limited offering. I think a Southern concept offering biscuits, grits, coffee and Bloody Mary's for breakfast (then turning into a sandwich shop later on...with a full bar) would go a long way. Maybe nestle it on the hill side with a patio overlooking the pit? Regardless of my ideas for improvements, I'll still be back for more races. I do love a good tailgate on race day. Now I just need to buy an RV... read more

Great race track not only to drive but to watch as well. If I can complain about anything it would be ekg security. Not all of them but some of the security are on power trips. I understand they have to have rules and regulations. However there is no excuse for abuse of power and authority. If you get the chance to attend any event at this track you should take it and have a great time. Also Joyce is a sweetheart. She is truely a great person and an asset to the road Atlanta team. read more

OMG - I had a blast my first time at Road Atlanta! Because I associate with a gang of motorcycle lovers (and I'm always happy to ride, but I've not been in the driver's seat... yet), going to Road Atlanta for the AMA Big Kahuna races last weekend, was mandatory. And awesome! My friend and I even scored free passes for all three days by attending Biker Night the previous Thursday at the Vortex in Little Five Points. Long story short, we met a promoter for the event, took an avid interest in his bike and he ended up giving us passes and telling us to try and find him there over the weekend. We didn't see him again but we got in for free. Sweet! So due to other constraints like work (on Friday - blah) and not the greatest weather on Saturday, we all met up for the Sunday final races (the most exciting races where the 'Big Kahuna' would be crowned anyway). Riding in to a track like that was super impressive - motorcycles were everywhere! Ducatis, Repsols, Suzukis, Kawasakis, Buells, Triumphs, Harley - Davidson's - the list was endless - not to mention all the regular cars, trucks and RVs parked all over the place. Novice moto racing enthusiast that I am, all the veterans of my group (ie all the guys I was with) were happy to tell me: where the best turns to watch the races were, just how blindingly fast the riders were moving, point out the subtle differences in how riders positioned themselves on the bikes and how it affected their performances and so on and so forth. Very good education day honestly. We started off viewing the under 20 riders at Turn 3 right before the Shikane hair pin hill - there was a not so serious spill and then a late serious crash that ended the race a few laps early. I couldn't see the second accident but when the ambulance came out it was easy to tell it was more serious. The second race was viewed from Turns 6 and 7 (very cool because you could see the riders crest at the top of the hill, whip down into the turn, then accelerate hard up the next hill). And the final race (the big boys race) was at Turn 10 - excellent viewing spot. Most of the other spectators were there since there's terraced seating built right in and it offered a fantastic view of the hill that they all plummeted down before revving into a final turn before the finish line. A really exciting, really noisy, really fun day - I had a blast and that was just my first Road Atlanta experience. What a high starting point! read more

I went for Petit Le Mans. What a beautiful circuit! It's very scenic and a lot of people camp in the infield. It's a must-go event if you're a photographer because there's very little catch fencing. A lot of the corners only have a chest-high barrier - no obstruction between your camera and the cars. Fantastic! read more

This an awesome venue for racing, or anything in between car related. We actually went there this past weekend for Formula Drift, and their car show ran by Fatlace called Offset Kings. So as we parked our cars we went around and got to see all the drivers, vendors and got to explore the area in our golf cart (thankful for being able to rent one) as everything was so scattered around. The smell of burning rubber, the vibe, oh it was a good time. I'll keep coming here from now on for their events, really liked the venue. read more

Ok, so I'm going to step out on a limb here and review a race track from a racer/spectators point of view. I'll break it down in each so it's easy to read. Rider: Road Atlanta is my favorite track and it's by far the most fun track I ride in the Southeast. The pits are spacious, mostly flat, easy to use and offer plenty of parking for trailers and vehicles. The track is the perfect combination of chicanes, straights, off camber turns and elevation changes. It offers everything a motorcycle rider could want. The esses are technical, fast, wide and easy to read. The back side of the track is slower, and challenging. I have yet to find the perfect drive in and out of 7. Just as soon as you think you're home free the back straight opens up and the sound of the rev-limiter in 6th gear rings in your ears before a hard brake at the ARAI board. Turn 10a and b will certainly bring your systolic pressure up as you scrub off 100 mph in a hundred feet or so. I'm getting a rush just typing about it. HAHA hopefully by now you get the idea. Spectator: With 250+ acres of land and a beautiful infield Road Atlanta is a perfect track for spectators. The infield offers numerous places to pull up, drop a tailgate, pull out the camping chairs, or lay a blanket down to watch the races. They have restroom facilities throughout the grounds and plenty of parking for families, friends or enthusiasts. The grounds are not as nice as some of the more premier tracks like Barber, but the infield is much more spectator friendly than most. Just an hour outside of Atlanta, Road Atlanta is hard to beat for the rider or the fans. It's easy to see why this place hosts large events like the Petit LE MANS, Superbike showdown and drifting races.I cant wait to go back. read more

Odd that I could not find any headline or guidance about this weekend's MotoAmerica race regarding freedom. So, I called. The person at Road Atlanta said people have to wear a mask. Let's understand this. The world of racing sent out an elaborate survey earlier this year asking us if we felt safe to go to races. They leveraged that to get approval then applied limitations. They were dishonest and devisive regarding this weekend and not disclosing their demands. Many people will go to this massive, open raceway and have their freedom to choose taken away. I cancelled my trip to Road Atlanta this weekend and will not be watching MotoAmerica at all as a result. Road Atlanta, you should have advocated for us. I been to many, many races there and am unlikely to ever go again. This is an over-reach, disrespectful, and bullying. read more

Attended Petit Lemans 2015 Arrived before the start and despite the light rain at the time was greeted at the gate by a cheerful attendant and whisked through and immediately pointed to an infield parking spot. I was able to orient on the way in so immediately headed to a spot on turns 1 and 2 for the start. Rain continued throughout the day but I was dressed for it so it was annoying but not a problem. Racing had been going for three days already and RA seemed on top of things emptying trash and picking up litter. After the start I caught a shuttle bus and checked out other parts of the track without wearing myself out hiking from one end to the other as the place is huge. There is no corner or straight on the track that you cannot see. Also the infield is higher than the track in most places so you get great views no matter which section of the course you choose. It was a GREAT day of racing and everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful. Hope to attend again in 2016 and hopefully with better weather. If I was to suggest one change it would be to pave the entire vendors area up on the hill. There was a strip down the center which made walking it easy but stepping off into a booth and it was swamp city and ankle deep mud in a few places. Annoying but not a deal breaker and no one expected this monsoon weather that hit. read more

My first and only trip here was to the Mitty. If you want to get a feel for road racing I suggest this one, The Mitty. You will see all sorts of classes of cars, even bikes and NASCAR. They put on short 7 lap races and I mean races. Most the guys up front really charge hard. We saw a Brit lose control on the first lap. In an original GT40 go backward into the marbles. and powering the car out. Throwing rocks everywhere! He came back and won! What's great about Road Atlanta is that you can drive your car and park just about anywhere around the circuit. Unlike other tracks making you hoof it. read more

I looked up "Road Atlanta" on the Yelp search, and only ONE review? Guess I'll keep my suspicions to myself, but I'd like to think that RA being WAY OTP had nothing to do with it. Ya'll, this place is great fun! I like to go here for the Petite LeMans for racing, and the Walter Mitty event to actually drive on the track (slowly) in my 66 Dart station wagon. Great eating, picnicking, and restroom facilities, plus super views of the track. read more

Yep. I agree with George C., but now when I look up Road Atlanta there are 2 reviews. Why not lots more?? Y'all need to come on up here and check this place out!! The Petit LeMans is loads of fun (a 1000 mile/10 hour race) and Road Atlanta also has motorcycle races and drifting. This morning we awoke to the roar of the cars as they set out for a last run or so before the start of Petit LeMans this morning a little after 11. This is really a nice track and Ryan D. is right on that the infield is very spectator-friendly. I like that you can walk around all over this place while the race is on, find a spot you like and plant yourself for awhile, then get up if you like and move on. Every year since we moved to NE GA The Petit LeMans has been a favorite beginning-of-Fall outing. This year hubby and friends are there until later this afternoon and will come home (whenever I go back to get them) to watch the rest of the race on TV away from the crowd (this year "they" anticipated attendance of 100,000). We will see later if that was the case. I was the guy's chauffeur so they didn't need to bother with parking and I could just pull up front, drop them off and be on my way. The above is actually why I thought of reviewing Road Atlanta on Yelp today. There is one road in and out of this place...Hwy. 53...and quite honestly, when there is a crowd of this size (and there ALWAYS is for Petit LeMans) you would think people would try to find other ways to get there besides the route everyone else uses. It appears that most everyone arrives from the north or south on Hwy. 85, exits where the signs tell them to (Hwy 53) and then crawls in traffic to parking. It is a loooong way down the road from the highway and this morning the racegoers were bumper to bumper all the way from (and on) Hwy. 85 to the race area itself. Here is a suggestion or 2....If you are coming up from the South, take 985 up and exit at the Oakwood exit. Turn right (you will be on 53) and drive on in. Believe me, if you come up around 10 there is NO traffic coming in from that side and you will get some awesome parking. Plus at that time you get to walk around and do a little hobnobbing. If you are already coming down 985, you know this way and you are smartly using it. Now, if you are driving down from the North on 85, instead of exiting on 53, drive down one more to Hwy. 211 (aka Old Winder Hwy.). Turn right, drive on Hwy. 211 until you dead end at Hwy. 53. Turn right again, and drive on in. I am sure you will have so much less traffic. Now, that all said....lots more of the fun for me is checking out all the spectator's cars. The Audi race supporters are arriving in their Audis, the Ferrari guys are driving in in theirs, and so on. You will see loads of Corvettes, Porsches, BMWs, and more. Everyone clearly loves to show off their ride. So next year come on up and spend the day at Petit LeMans. I hear that it is one of the most, if not THE most anticipated of the North American road races. I guarantee you will have a great time! read more
