My usual Saturday night fare is Vietnamese as I am a Springvale local. However, last Saturday night,I decided to venture further and give my taste buds a break from the mundane. I knew of Michelangelo as I have driven past it many times and always promised myself to check it out and I am really glad I did.
I was greeted warmly and shown to my table which was by a large picture window which ticked my first box,the waiter came over almost immediately for drink orders which also arrived promptly. I must admit it's not exactly budget dining but not over priced either, there is a large selection of antipasti, bruschette and breads to choose from as starters, all starting around $7 and up to $18 for a high end starter such as Portuguese mussels.
Mains are the standard fare of Italian restaurants plus some more exquisite offerings such as risotto, eye fillet steaks, slamon and exotic salads;all ranging from $19 up to $37 for the NY rib eye steak.
I went different and had a pizza,it was what I was craving. What a great pizza, one with the lot and you could taste every ingredient, the bottom wasn't soggy and nothing fell off it when I picked it up. At $18.90,it was money well spent. Pizzas range from $16 to $22 depending on what type of pizza it is.
We finished with dessert, three scoops of different gelato, there are about 7 flavours to choose from and it was wonderful. Like most dessert menus,it all looked good so it was hard to pick but gelato seemed like a logical choice after pizza. For the two of us,the bill came to $99 with starters, mains, drinks and desserts. First time I have paid in cash for a while and also happily left a tip. Great food, great service and also,a great family place, lost of parents and kids there too..Can't wait to go back. read more
