Upon my arrival at 2:10 pm on a Thursday, sure enough, they were closed with a sign posted that they would be back at 3:00. Their posted hours for that day is 11-5pm. I get the feeling the store front is a hobby for the owners. Since they offer design and that obviously is their focus, they should consider "by appointment only" and stop wasting potential patrons time and gas. I will not be giving them a second chance. Upstairs are two different areas-including a fabric store which has a ton of fun fabrics for you to choose from. These are not the same fabrics you will find at Jo-Ann's or anywhere else that sells fabric. The other business upstairs is a framing shop, that has mostly religious pictures-both original and prints for sale. They will also frame anything else that you bring in and did not purchase here. The two women upstairs were very friendly and welcoming, and made me feel like an old friend. If you are looking for a gift, there are plenty of options, and even non-denominational gifts for people of all ages. Plus, the store is such a peaceful place to just browse.

But I looked up to the second floor and could have sworn I saw bolts of fabric lining the walls. But this is Deseret Book, right? Up the stairs I go, and sure enough that place is packed with fabric. Maybe technically the thing is a Mormon Handicraft, but there it is under the same roof so I'm calling it part of Deseret Book for now. Here's the low down on the fabric: it's really cute. I've encountered several employees in the last few days here at the Brickyard location and all have been helpful, kind and professional. For your manager Tami, none of these apply. I was told by one employee when I asked a question about a crack in a furniture item to not approach her because she's cranky. I appreciated her help and moved on. Not even 10 minutes went by when I witnessed her telling off a customer about her furniture question the other customer I could tell was upset for the way she was just treated and I went over to support her with the knowledge that what she was told by a different manager a few days ago I was also told to help legitimately validate her that sadly , cranky Tami could not. I thought I lucked out by not encountering her but I got to have my own Tami experience at checkout... I asked for a discount on a chipped picture frame. Stephanie and Debra L. were super sweet but when Tami showed up she told them the $2.00 off was too much and that she'd only do 1.00 and I said 10% is 1.50 so could we just keep the 2 and she said "You know what, I could just put a marker on that and fix it and sell it as new. So no discount!" She then took the frame and walked away! Stephanie and Debi apologized and tried to deescalate the situation that just occurred but I was just flabbergasted that THIS person is your manager! To have employees that already know how to prepare customers for her and who are also afraid of this manager and then they themselves have to show better customer service than your manager Tami is so messed up! To whoever owns this store- do better! Your manager Curtis I have heard wonderful things about- they told me to come back when he is working. They also have world foods/brands that you don't normally find at a regular grocery store. I've found some interesting food items over the years. I especially like that they don't carry the same brands year round, so you better get it when you see it. You'll miss out if not. They sell pet supplies, bedding, a small kids section, silk plants, candles, cookware, dishes, pictures, rugs, frames, etc... anything you need to make your house feel comfortable and stylish.

Each time we've been here it seems they're either understaffed or not enough stockers are cashier trained because it'll be just one cashier until an antsy line queues and then someone notices and comes up to help ring down the line. Good selection of books and games. The front by the cashier also has a fun collection of gift items that change seasonally. There's a cafe in the back but it's usually pretty full so we haven't gone there yet. The store is well organized but maintenance needs to come in to clean the escalator and repaint since it is pretty dirty in some spots which is normal over time but looks like whoever is in charge of regional upkeep maybe hasn't noticed on their visits that this store needs so deep cleaning in some high foot traffic areas. Overall a good albeit pricey place to find your next good read as well as a great place to find gifts for everyone. Cashiers are friendly. Keep up the good work!

I came in looking for a book but after sometime I couldn't find it, and when I asked for help they didn't want to really help but instead kept ignoring me, seemed bothered I even asked, later came to find out that was the manager-disgraceful behavior. Gave them the benefit of the doubt and asked a different employee but she wasn't very helpful, told me to go look myself despite already telling her I have and I asked her if she would get in trouble if she walked over and helped me (btw the store wasn't very busy) she said she wouldn't get in trouble..but she proceeded to basically say she doesn't want to but I guess fine, and told me she was going to help another customer first despite me being there first but I said okay, and waited for her to come to the section I told her I would be in (where the book I was looking for should be) and when she wasn't there within a reasonable time I looked over and saw she was continuing to "help" every other customer around and stand there, when I talked to her again, she looked like she was caught and it was more of the same apathetic and lazy response, while two other employees (two managers-one was the first one I talked to) were just standing talking and laughing away near by doing nothing. Tried to talk to them about what happened and they didn't seem to genuinely care AT ALL. It made me feel unprioritized and like I didn't matter. Way to make a person walk straight out of the store. Walked out feeling worse than when I came in. Amazon and other sellers are cheaper but people come to Barnes for the service/experience not just books. Overall, consistently disgraceful employees and an unpleasant experience at this location.

The salesperson, as I exited the store accused me of 'accidentally' putting something in my pocket. I indicated my disappointment and how insulted I was and my wife put back the items she was going to purchase and we left. She added insult to injury by calling the police and having them come and stop me on the street (by this time she discovered on her cameras that I did not in fact take anything). So I apologize for wasting our law enforcement's time and I am very grateful for their courtesy and rapid response. But I would never recommend or shop at Whisperwood Boutique again.
