When my son attempted to return art supplies that he had purchased for me, he no longer had the receipt (which I threw away, believing I would be keeping the items), but I do have the credit card statement verifying the purchase. During the interaction, Manager Cheryl assumed that my 18-year-old son had stolen the items because the inventory system indicated that there were still many of those products in stock and because they were located near the door and, in her view, easy to steal. I find this accusation deeply concerning and unprofessional. An inventory discrepancy is an issue with the store's systems and processes, not evidence that a customer has stolen merchandise. Rather than gathering facts and approaching the situation with curiosity and professionalism, Cheryl assumed wrongdoing and treated my son as though he had stolen the items. That assumption was unfounded and ultimately proven incorrect. As a young man, he deserved to be treated with respect and dignity. Given the circumstances, I am particularly troubled by the possibility that implicit bias may have influenced how he was treated. When I later called the store, Cheryl confirmed that her suspicion was based on the inventory count, the location of the items near the door, and the fact that the items did not initially pull up using the credit card. Notably, two of the three reasons Cheryl cited for suspecting my son were entirely related to store operations and management issues, not to any conduct on his part. Instead of acknowledging the seriousness of the accusation, she failed to take accountability and continued to make excuses and talk over me when I was sharing our side of the story. I will be requesting that headquarters review this matter so that other customers are not subjected to a similar experience. Employees, especially managers, should be trained to gather facts before making accusations, communicate respectfully, take accountability when mistakes are made, and treat all customers with dignity and respect. Drove from Pearland to pickup an online order. Got to the store and after waiting several minutes we were told it was not in stock. If you cannot trust the inventory, then why do you offer pickup. the card terminal was new (as the employee mentioned) so my card wasn't working. first try it said error, second try my card said declined.. third time I went thru. cool, get out to my truck to load the kids and go home and all 3 transactions went thru and they couldn't fix it . wait til today for the purchase to be posted and the only way they can possibly fix it is if I drive all the way back (it's an hour away) and swipe my card for the "refund". why am I out extra money, wasting my time calling to get hung up on multiple times for them to not admit fault and fix their mistake and obviously broken machine read more

Print coupons and sign up for emails to save $!! Awesome selection of scrap booking paper and stickers. Not that great on floral but definitely better prices. This location is a bit smaller than most so that should be taken into consideration. The store is convenient and easy to navigate. Great selection of baking ware and Wilton products. Along with some hard-to-finds with baking as well. I only knocked off a star as the register people just SUCK on personality level! They all seem miserable. Normally that's not a big deal but the fact that there are 3 employees standing next to the line just standing around talking. They're not working, they're not helping people, they're not checking people out. They're literally just standing staring at the line talking.... very frustrating read more

Used to be a decent store but starting a year before covid the place started really going down hill. The lack of products in stock, never having it when their website said so. But today is the final straw. The incompetent framing department, whose worker seemed to be high, kept going in circles about a simple picture and frame we had. Yes the frame isn't real wood but all we wanted was glass, they didn't even have to put it in. Just place the order for the cheapest glass for us. 40 Fing minutes before they finally said yeah and then when they tried to put in the order, they could cause the system was down. And not only that, but they knew it was going to be down, but were so incompetent and empty headed, didn't realize it was going to affect all their computers in the framing department. No more Michael's for this family, will go spend money at joann, hobby lobby for crafts and framing or a local frame shop when it comes to framing. read more

My 11 year old enjoys earning his own money so we frequent Michaels for him to buy his supplies. He makes the looms bracelets for the kiddos at school and always seems to need more supplies. I do a little crafting from time to time and pick up a few things on trips with him for his little business. This store offers crafting, scrapbooking, art, and cake decorating classes. The classes are during the day, evenings and even on weekends! The store is on a smaller scale of Hobby Lobby but has plenty to offer. Please be ready to search for help if you do not know the lay of the store. Once help is located, they are very friendly and helpful. There is never anyone readily available. This is something that really doesn't bother me as this is with all locations that I have been. Be sure to look on their webpage for a coupon! read more

OKAY SO I'VE NOTICED.. Bay Area is known for craft stores! Texas Art Supply store up the street, Jo-Ann in the strip, Hobby Lobby either one or two within the area, and Michaels across the no longer built bridge. But aside from having lots of art & crafty stores. Because Jo-Ann is dead & overly expensive, Texas Art Supply doesn't sell patches, but those two employees are so bubbly, & Hobby Lobby.. yeah that hobby store is hobbilicious.. lol. Michaels, is what I remember & what I know, so I came here to grow. Though, that sounded really corny & nice to write however it isn't true. Ok, enough is enough time for the review. This is tucked away behind the Chevron on Bay Area, the area isn't populated so, close to the storefront parking is avail. Customer service was great for me, but I noticed another customer drove mad for it. I dunno what happened, but she wasn't very happy while waiting for a sales rep to assist her. I believe she actually just left empty handed. The checkout was foreverly slow! It was so ridiculously slow.. I nearly put my stuff back and left if ole' dude never came up to the register. They also have solicitors walking around the store. Begging you for donations or better yet asking you to buy something so they can go on a trip. I don't like that at all! The customers in the store seemed to be too gullible. Who buys spray paint from Michaels?! Yeah, it's a hobby store; but it is a lot cheaper elsewhere. I know, same for me too. **(who buys patches from a hobby store, why not go to Walmart).. lol (said the freaky & creepy, but nice as hell customer behind me). I however loved their Halloween aisle. Being a crafty person, I probably hit up Michaels at least once a week. More sometimes. They may not be as big as Hobby Lobby but there's a few things that I just like better about Michaels. For starters their jewelry section is fantastic. There's so many quality beads and jewelry hardware that I didn't even know where to begin. Even picking out seed beads was difficult because there were so many colors and sizes. I also love that they have classes. I just signed up for the first Wilton cake decorating class of the three that they offer and the fee was 50% off making it a cool $22.50. That's even cheaper than the same class taught at San Jac Community College plus it's a heck of a lot closer. Michaels also wins over Hobby Lobby because it's open on Sunday and stays open until 9 instead of 8. Convenience always wins in my book and I can't tell you how many times I've been to Michaels on a Sunday. I like the staff too. I generally always see the same cashiers and they're usually always helpful and friendly. I also love getting the 40% off coupons printed with my receipt. I mean, who doesn't love a good coupon?! read more

Very great place as far as a variety of art supplies to come and get. They have a wide range from cake decorating, jewelry making, scrap booking, painting, yarns, fake flowers, holiday crafts for kids, and a framing section. I had used their custom framing for one of my favorite intaglio prints I made in college and it is fairly large. they did an excellent job and it looks so professional I could hang it in an big art gallery. Well I did choose the "gallery" level frame. hahaha They do offer different classes, I see them advertise it all the time, yet I never have time to go to one. I do recommend using your 40% coupon in the mail or print one out, save for an item you want to buy, most of the time when I compare prices, Michaels is more pricy than both Aaron Brothers and Hobby Lobby normally unless you use the coupon. read more

I went to this location for the 1st time since moving to the area 2 years ago to get a list of supplies to paint rocks for a group I've joined called Clear Lake City "Rocks". I was prepared with coupons I found on the web and texted to my phone. Found most of my list and had excellent service. The store seemed clean and organized. It's about half the size of Hobby Lobby, which I prefer when I know what I want and just want to get in and out. I loved all the color choices for acrylic paints. Lots of good sales going on so I ended up spending more time and money on sale items then I planned or should have!! Some of the decorative items seem way overpriced so the only way I'd even consider buying things like that is with one of their 40% off coupons. If there was an option for zero stars, I would choose the zero. I have been a loyal customer of Michaels for 10 years, but after today I will never return. I went in for Wilton baking supplies as the weekly ad stated 40% off. I purchased baking boxes and baking rounds. I was given 40% for the boxes, but not the rounds. I also purchased 2 packs of pencils which were marked $5. On the particular display, 20% was indicated off of the pencils. When I brought it to the attention of the cashier she said the 20% was off of the original price of the pencils, reducing the price to $5. It wasn't indicated as such and I asked to speak to a manager. She got on her ear piece to request a manager. I was told by the cashier that the manager was too busy. This began a back and forth exchange between myself and the cashier. I again requested a manager to which was met with laughing on her part when she spoke into her ear piece. She turned her back to me which led me to believe she was speaking about me. I asked for the third time for a manager to which she replied "I just work at the front", again telling me the manager was too busy. In th age of many craft stores and many options to purchase items from other stores, customer service should be the top priority above all else. I left angry and humiliated. I asked for their names which the cashier Ashley was hesitant to give me. The manager Tiffany gave me hers but refused to give me the 40% off that is reflected in their ad. I paid $1200 for frames which sagged and bent after 1.5 years of hanging on my wall. When I said I needed them fixed, the manager Dina said that they would do nothing to help me and that the best recourse I had would be to sue Michaels. Huge waste of money and terrible customer service. Don't ever go here for framing. read more
