I did have to wait in the hot sun for a few minutes but then was allowed in. Cashier was super friendly and very helpful and I had zero problems returning item....I just made sure to have the packing document, email and credit card to be refunded handy and ready to go. I went in exactly 3 weeks after the purchase and asked if my stuff was ready and the lady at the counter said yes. She said it was ready 2 weeks ago. I informed her that I didn't get a call. My experience at this location was terrible. I was shopping when I urgently needed to use the restroom. I went to the back but couldn't find a single employee. Since the restroom doors require a code, I walked to the front register to ask for help. The cashier called for someone to open it, so I walked back--but no one ever came. Today I went to this Michaels with my kids long story short I found a toy car bumblebee and hand it to my son he loves bumblebee. Then he ran to my wife to show it to her. I got carried away shopping and noticed that my daughter put a little purse in her pocket. when we approached the cashier I told my daughter to take out the purse she had in her pocket shortly after a guy staff came and told us referring to my son "She also has to pay for the toy car she has in her pocket" I honestly didn't know he had it there otherwise just like my daughter I would have told him the same thing also my son has long hair and I get that it could be confusing but he kept saying "She has a car in her pocket. I said ok then he gave me a condescending look . I walked out mad because I am an explosive person and needed to keep my cool but this guy needs to be taught customer service and needs not to assume that because a kid has long hair it's a girl. Also, the look that he gave me pissed me off because I am was not trying to steel a stupid little car my son is 7 years old all he should have said is your child put a car in his pocket. The customer service is non existent! I walked in and saw nobody on the floor! Then after a few minutes I found someone and asked for help and got a very unenthusiastic responses. At the end I said thank you and there was no (your welcome) just silence.. This particular location hires people who don't know the products they sell and much worse is they make uninformed statements on the products they know nothing about! The employee said you couldn't use Posca markers on glass when it states it on the markers itself ! Also (I was using them all day for my business just the day before!) so I said nothing to the employee and listened in horror.. Also ,The merchandise is never sufficiently stocked at this particular location so you quite possibly will waste your time coming here for something you really need and should be stocked but sadly isn't last week or this week or next month! So I went to another location and they were properly stocked and the customer service was stellar even bought items I wasn't planning to buy because .. you guessed it they were in STOCK!!! as should be at such a large store! This has happened a few times so hence why I'm writing this review for this location. This store is horrible, I was trying to look for an item, the associate I asked for help had to move a bunch of boxes that were blocking. I couldn't find the item so I asked another person. Please keep in mind that I went early in the morning and they were not busy at all. She just pointed to another location where again, it was blocked by more boxes. First off I'd like to say my order was perfect. I made an online order and had it brought out curb side. the young lady was on point, brought my order, had a mask and gloves. thank you. This post speaks more to what I saw while i waited. There doesn't appear to be any social distancing floor markers. People seemed very closed and huddled together. There where so many people waiting to go in you would swear they were giving away free concern tickets. The scene looked and felt unsafe, some people had mask some didn't, lots of kids with no masks. When the store finally let people in it allowed 20 people in the store while only 4 had left. Called before my drive over. Spoke w/ a girl about card-stock paper that I needed. I was told they did sell sheets individually and that's all I needed to hear! I arrive and one person was handling a line. I looked around for another person on the floor. When I found someone she was assisting another customer. I asked her if she could direct me to the aisle where the card-stock paper would be. The employee tells me they don't carry that there. I give her a puzzled look before I respond and say I called before driving all the way over here and was told that you guys have the individual sheets that I'm looking for. She then says Oh, let me show you what aisle it's on. --- like are you freaken kiddin' me. Just PLAIN lazy! If I had not called and spoke to someone, I would've believed what she said and left w/o my sheets of cardstock. BACK TO THE STORY... The lazy girl brings me to a aisle of card-stock BUT all of the card stock paper I was seeing was in packaging or in a notebook type style. Those card stocks in high quantities ranged in prices from 19.99 and UP. I went back to the front of the store and told her that I'm looking for individual sheets of card-stock paper, not in packaging. She brings me to another aisle with what I had originally asked for from the beginning. I had to just look at her like she was crazy and hold me lips tightly together; to keep from saying anything to her. Looked thru the various types of cardstock some cut in different sizes, different patterns, different colors... prices ranged from 59 - 79 cents. (Great prices) I got the sheets I was looking for and headed to the register. The girl at the register was a little unprofessional. She ringed customers items and then while they look for their cash or card she analyzed their merchandise like "oh, I didn't know we had this...hopefully we have more left so I can grab some on my break" (Sidenote: she didn't really say that... I just wanted to give a visual as to how she analyzed customers items, lol) then she put them in a bag and slug them onto the counter, SMH. She looked like she was just OVER being there and wanted to leave. Upon getting to the register I would find out that my observation of this employee was CORRECT, lol. Before greeting me, the cashier started speaking into her Bluetooth thing that all the employees wear in their ear... telling whoever was listening how she was so ready to go on her break in 5 mins. I started laughing. I thought it was funny that she would be that unprofessional! Then after she rang up my sheets of card-stock... she finally speaks to me; saying "hi, how are you?" I'm thinking oh, NOW you see me!? LOL When my transaction is over I take my sheets and leave! Employees at this location need to be knowledgeable about where items are or if they don't know try and find out and NOT be lazy. Lastly, they also need a good lesson in professionalism! read more

I recently purchased $200 worth of stuff for a project I had to do for my school. When I got home I noticed an item was missing. When I called they told me to bring my receipt back and they'll issue me a refund since I no longer needed the item. Long story short, I went back today and returned everything. As they were scanning everything they told me they couldn't find 3 out of the rest of the items I had purchased and they can only issue store credit. I'm not the type to leave bad reviews but after this experience Im better off going to another Michaels. Note: when making big purchases make sure all of your items are in the bag. Lastly, please get more cashiers to help with the lines. Be mindful of the fact that there are people who have things to do and can't be stuck in a line for an hour. read more

The cashier named JENN was totally rude to me just because i moved a stand to go in the register line (note that no one was in line so i thought there was no problem with that)i just moved it a little bit for me to pass and place it back how it was. So she saw me waiting, i asked her if she could ring me up please and her answer was *give me one second* with an attitude and a bad face expression while she was putting stuff away, took her sweet time and when she was ready she told me with an attitude*you cut the line, the line doesn't start like that* i was like *what do you mean? There was no one in line so i didnt cut anyone*. She was like *you still cut the line so the line doesnt go like that*. What was her damn problem? I even told her she was being rude to me in the way she was talking to me. She was again reminding me about the line not starting like that. I told her to watch her attitude thats not how you talk to customers she was being rude. She confirmed me saying *yes im being rude to you, the line doesnt start like that!*. I asked for a manager and the guy didnt do anything about it! Both of them didnt even apologized! Bad management everybody needs to be re trained on customer service! No wonder this location in South Gate, CA. has bad reviews in yelp! This type of behavior from the cashier has to be addressed. What ever problem she has outside of work she has to leave that outside and stop being petty/rude with customers! Manager came in and kicked everyone out because next class was waiting. All the parents had to explain to their kids why we have to leave. The store is kept well maintained and the employees are very friendly. I've had issues with my phone where I couldn't retrieve a coupon so they went ahead and applied the discount for me, that was cool since not many stores do it. Sometimes I do feel that the Michael's in Downey has a little more of a selection than this one, but it's still good. They recently started a rewards program. Recently went to buy canvases and yarn. The deals were unbelievable. I was expecting to buy one canvas but ended up buying 3 for the price of 1 because of the deal last week. They have so much yarn I spent more time than expected. Sadly, I was not able to find the yarn pattern I needed. Apparently, Michaels carries 17 of the 19 colors made by that brand.
