OSHA requires that business provide accessible working bathrooms. Being pregnant and not being allowed to use the restroom is not ok. All that the employee says we don't have a restroom, which sounds unlikely, where do the employees go? Where should paying clients go? Micheal's should have working bathrooms!! read more

This store has improved considerably over the last few months. For personal reasons, this is the only craft store I will patronize and this particular store is the closest to my home. Although the parking is not ideal, it has become a very pleasant experience to visit this store. Today in particular, I want to commend them on their selection of yarn and their customer service. I am not of the computer or cell phone age so I was having difficulty with utilizing all the coupons and my rewards. An amazing young man named Brandon helped me and went beyond the call of duty to make sure all my coupons were used and that I got the best possible prices on all my items.It is so nice to be treated with respect and receive the help needed, especially these days when everything is self serve. I will definitely keep coming to Michael's, especially during this busy holiday season. I am an avid crafter and crocheter and will need many items for the craft store, so Michael's will be on my errand list often! read more

Very good service, cashier was very friendly scan my items and was able to scan my coupon as well without any issues. The store is on the smaller side but everything was in the right place and clean and efficient. Store was busy on a Friday evening but it was moving and everyone seems happy. I love Michael's! Being a crafty person, I love going in to satisfy my creative outlet with a variety of different options available for the DIY crafters! They have great sales, coupons, and a reward system. I always walk out of there with something to keep me occupied. Sometimes I really have to go in with a game plan, or else I get myself in trouble. Haha. I noticed today that they carry "The Sweet Tooth Fairy" baking options, which I think is way cool, considering that Sweet Tooth Fairy is a local Utah celebrity. I always have fun shopping at Michael's for my craft projects! :) and they have great decor too! read more

As an advocate for those w/ disabilities... Please tell me how is this even acceptable to have a designated handicap parking space, (the parking lot is not adequately set of for disabled patrons) yet change it to an online store pickup. How is this even ethical or compliant w/ ADA!?? This store is very disorganized and there's minimal staff to find to ask questions. I do not recommend this locations, I will continue to drive further away for a better laid out store w/staff that are efficiently helpful. read more

Horrible, just horrible. Self checkouts are a nightmare, none of the prices were right and the uninterested clerk was put out when asked to help. I wanted to use a coupon and even though it was on their website, she said, "I don't know what that is" and wouldn't honor it. Prices are high and the signs are confusing, "Flowers 40% off", is not ALL flowers, only those with certain tags? WTF. read more

Customer service is beyond bad here. We asked if they had something in stock and instead of helping, they asked, " did you check online?" When we tried to answer, they interrupted and simply said, " you need to check the floor stock yourself or look online. I am too busy to help you." read more

Absolutely terrible costumer service. Managers don't even know their own return policy. "If your Michaels.com purchase does not meet your satisfaction, you may return it within two months (60 days) of purchase, except for online-only costumes and accessory kits, which must be returned 7 days prior to the holiday." it had been 24 hours and the product was broken. read more

Employee (possibly a manager) was not wearing a mask and walking all over the store. She didn't even have a mask around her neck - even though that doesn't make a difference. She spoke to other employees very closely, within two feet, and did not have a mask on. There is a mask mandate in salt lake county and she was clearly not following requirements. She made me feel very uncomfortable while checking us out in the store. Everyone else in the store was appropriately wearing a mask. read more

Sugarhouse Shopping Center Michaels location! Have only been here a handful full of times and it is a big location. They carry a wide variety of assortments. The lines can be long depending on time of year and time of day. Waiting in the long lines has been my struggle as I am not as patient as I wish I was. Some of this store is semi unorganized but you can always ask someone for help with what you're looking for. Michaels always has a ton of coupons and deals online so if you haven't gotten coupons in your local newspaper mailer, just google michaels coupons before checking out to see if you qualify for any money savings!! read more

This location is best described as "deece." I've spent enough times in other Michaels, particularly in Midvale, that I've developed the ability to get in and get out quickly. But this location just throws it all off. They probably have most of the same stuff as other locations, but it just feels smaller and a little more jumbled in the layout. Give it up to them for organizing it all, but navigating it can be tricky. If this is the only Michaels you frequent, then lock in that layout and you'll probably be just fine. Parking can also get a little hairy, depending on the time of day. So go in off hours or be prepared to hoof it. I lucked out and got a spot right up front which was a sign that I should keep on crafting. Still, it's the mother of craft stores so you may find yourself cruising around looking for those crafty McCrafty projects that they're known for. Tons of variety from wooden dowels to yarn and fake fur, flowers and nice selection of frames. On the positive side, I was through the checkout pretty quick here. That's not been the case elsewhere, so bravo for snappy cashiers. read more

The location is convenient to me, so I do pop in here more often than I'd like, as I'm not the biggest fan of this store. I have been to my share of Michaels, Hobby Lobbys and other craft stores- this is definitely one of the worst. The selection here is not as large as most Michaels locations- things I can buy at another store aren't even stocked here- but the store seems very large and spread out, so that's weird, huh? I find myself running to JoAnns to pick up things I should be able to buy at this Michaels. It is an older building with low ceilings and it always sounds like there is a thunder storm outside because of the rumblings in the ductwork. The people who work here are either very very friendly and helpful or sullen and depressing. Nothing in between. There are also NEVER enough checkouts open! I wait in a 15+ minute line routinely while only 2 of the 7 are staffed. read more

This place is pretty much terrible. It's dark, never stocked with things we need, the ceilings are low, the lines are slow. The lines are reeeeeeeeeeallly slow. I don't think it's ever taken me less than 20 minutes to get through the checkout line. It's like shopping in a dungeon. In the summer the AC doesn't work very well, and it's VERY dark. The staff is always impatient and rude, but I guess I can't really blame them because this looks like a terrible place to work. Honestly, I don't go here unless I'm dragged here when my family is running errands, but I would rather go ANYWHERE else. read more

DO NOT GO THERE FOR FRAMING!!! I paid over $150 dollars to get a chipped frame. When I went to go pick up my frame there was a clear chip in the frame. The woman promised me she would order a new frame. Two weeks later the manager called and said that she "fixed" it. After going back and forth she said she would order a new frame. After not hearing back for a long time I called to see if it was there. After they couldn't find it for a few hours she called me and said it's been ready and they "called". They never did. I went to pick it up and when I took it home--low and behold. THE CHIP!! They never ordered a new frame like they said. They just painted it. There is a chip out the the frame but cheaply painted. They lied. I would never trust them with any artwork. I am disgusted. read more

I loathe everything about this store. Aside from the framing department, the customer service is uninformed, prickly, and at times snobbish. The return policy makes me want to pull my hair out. Their computer systems always use my coupons on the cheapest items in my basket, (yes, please ignore that $60 frame and take 40% off of my $0.80 paint brush). Moreover, the person running the cash register doesn't know how to fix it problem. At checkout I always wait in line at least 7-8 mins. Their standard frames are so cheaply made, it makes my jaw tight just thinking about it. For starters most of them have scratches, scrapes, or nicks on them. Or the frames have faults or discoloration in there finish. The one I'm currently wracking my head over is not square. One side is smaller by almost an eighth of an inch! I wouldn't care so much but Im spending $59 for a frame and the return value for it is $19. If I could give them less than 1 star I would. read more

I'm a painter and my girlfriend is crafty, which means I spend way too much time here... They have everything! I can get cooking stuff right next to oil paints and also pick up some awesome holiday decorations while I'm at it. The only issue I have with Michaels is the lack of employees. Sometimes the line to check out will be 30 people long (especially during the holidays) but they will only have 2 people checking out. And sometimes it takes a while when there are the people who buy 200 little tiny flowers that none of which have barcodes to scan. Either way... I'll be there. And I'll spend way too much money. read more

Always too busy! I have no clue why on a Saturday the line is stacked 15 deep but that has been my only concern. Usually, the staff is friendly and you can find what you need as far as arts and crafts. I definitively recommend bringing in a coupon if you plan on having framing done as custom framing can add up very quick! read more

This store was a must stop at while I was out and about doing some gift shopping at Nordstrom Rack next door. I knew that I wanted some fun things for the tree, so Michael's was a must. As far as the Christmas decorations are concerned, you get what you pay for. I got a ton of sparkly ornaments and feathers and other things to have popping out of the tree, and they are lovely, but I doubt I'll be able to use them again. It's pretty low quality, but to have all my decorations for under $20, I can't complain. Day in and day out, they usually are running some decent sales on regular craft items, and they always have coupons available online, in the paper, and on their app. The arrangements seem kind high, but they are made custom, so I guess that's why. The staff here always seems kinda rushed and not as interested in the customers as they do in other Michaels that I've been to in the past. I also feel like this store should move into a bigger store, or downsize inventory, because it always feel crowded inside. read more

Intense creativity is a blessing...and a curse. And Michaels reminds me nearly every time I shop there of both sides of this coin of character. I haunt the Sugarhouse location as it is the closest but sometimes I don't know if that is a help or hindrance to the development of my artistic skills and desires. I love this store for the variety of product-covering everything from fine art supplies to beading to scrapbooking. This also makes for a maddening shopping experience for a manic mixed media creator such as myself. God, the choices! I pick something up, get high off the fumes of imagined masterpieces, then wander around drunk with imagination, pick something else up, and then something else, put something down, turn in a circle, revisit an isle on the other end of the store...and get further and further away from anything solid until I end up buying a pack of Diamond Dots to put on my face the next time I go dancing. Okay...I have made something solid. Out of Rigid Wrap. After buying up their entire stock one day :) I can focus. It just takes way more effort than my fat right brained noggin can handle. read more

I'm not as creative and crafty as I'd like to be but every once in awhile an artistic lightning bolt strikes and Michael's is usually one of my first stops. They have a lot of random stuff so it's perfect for someone like me who isn't exactly sure what she needs or wants. I'm not much of an artist so I can't comment on the quality or brands they carry but their canvas and paint selections do me just fine. I also like to browse the beads and jewelry section to find cool stuff. I am giving two stars to the sugarhouse location since I don't generally go to the others. It would have been three or four but the last few times I've gone, the staff has been less than helpful. I'm not sure if they have just been short-staffed lately but sometimes I have to wander the store for 10 minutes before finding someone who can answer a question. Once or twice I've encountered a younger girl who acts like I'm putting her out by asking a simple question. At most I've seen two people at the registers, even with a big line of people waiting. Maybe they are just cutting back on staff because it's not as busy? Either way, customer service means a lot to me. I'm okay with waiting in line but I don't do well with employees who don't like customers. read more

A strange little Michaels store...not the norm. They're usually out of whatever I'm looking for. Lines are loooong no matter what time of day I've gone. Staff will help, but they appear to be pained while doing so. And for some reason, I feel like the ceiling is closing in on me...but maybe I'm just too accustomed to super stores this day and age. And of course, there's the challenge of finding a parking spot without getting into a fender bender in this shopping center...always an adventure. read more

Store is very old. From the outside it looks like it was built 10 years ago but from the inside, it appears that it was built 40 years ago. The store is packed with stuff, but it was hard to find a lot of things. We were looking for some metal clips, something that one would definitely think is at Michaels, but they didn't have any. They had millions of clothes pins but no metal clips, except one really massive one. I grabbed a Laffy Taffy on my way out cause it was only $0.99 but after leaving I realized they actually charged me $1.39. They clearly have a few things to work on... read more

This is the worst Michaels ever! I bought a clay rolling machine when I got home it was broken, you could tell that it had been used and returned. When I called the manager to check to see if they had another one she told me that I would have to come back to the store and check myself she was too busy to check and that I would have to come back tomorrow because the store closes in 7 minutes. I told her I could probably make it there in that amount of time. She told me that the doors would be locked right at closing and even if there is still shoppers in the store the law does not allow her to let me in. I said no worries I'll be in. She did everything in her power to try to make this shopping experience the worst ever... and she did! And not to mention she was so rude and mean spirited.
