Because I don't consider myself crafty, I haven't stepped inside a Michael's for years. However, I completely forgot all the items aren't about being an artist. The Halloween decor is what drew me in and I loved the options. Did you know they have Halloween villages?! I also enjoyed browsing their holiday and seasonal clearance. This store is huge and there's plenty of parking. My only negative is the prices are high. Their business model is to mark it up and then offer a sale to align the cost for purchase. We checked ourselves out at the counter and applied for the rewards program. I'll be back! read more

I had to write this review because of the amazing customer service I received from Hannah! So believe it or not, this was only my second or third time at a Michaels store in my life and I don't know why I had waited so long! The new self check outs are as bad as their staff. I waited 30 minutes for assistance as an item that I purchased was running up incorrectly. The end result I left the store without my items as no one showed up to assist me. I guess I will now take all of my business to Hobby Lobby. I don't shop at Michaels often, because I don't find myself doing a lot of arts and crafts. However, I needed some specific supplies for a party I was throwing, and I was able to find them at this Michaels location. I had no issues finding the items I needed, and while I was in I also browsed around some and discovered they have a vast selection of not only arts and crafts supplies, but also supplies for baking, events and parties, home decor, holiday items, and a lot more. I have some items to get framed and I'm considering Michaels as the spot to do it, because they also have a large framing area; both where you can purchase frames of all sizes, as well as have items specially framed. Based on my visit I'd say that if you're shopping for something for a project, an event, or your home, there's a good chance Michael has it! read more

I enjoy this store. It always has good deals and items on clearance. The people have always been helpful when I've had complicated projects or needed something unusual framed. And if you search around you'll probably find lots of things you didn't even come in for. It's usually not that busy. And they've got plenty of Christmas items near the end of the year. Like most craft stores, it's a little unkempt at times. I think for some people that adds to the fun. It doesn't hurt the appeal much. The best thing about Michael's compared to some other craft stores is the variety of things they have -- paint colors, charms and nick-nacks, silk flowers, frames, yarn for knitters, buttons, baubles . . . you get the picture. The first time that I went in with a craft in mind, I needed some help navigating the store. Thankfully the employees were easy to find, knowledgeable about the location of what I needed, and willing to help. We had been searching everywhere for regular Christmas tree lights (not fairy lights) and we were running out of places to look, so we thought maybe we would try Michael's. One of the staff was very friendly and helped us find the lights amidst the huge amount of holiday stuff, and they actually had a decent amount left in stock (everywhere else we had been had none). The workers at the registers were quick and friendly, and we were pleasantly surprised to find out that the price was HALF what every other company was charging. Again, Michael's is the same no matter which store you drop in. Occasionally it'll be easier to get help at one store than another. It's my go to crafting destination. They have most everything I need. They do a great job hooking you with their next visit coupons. However, I've yet to see a benefit from earning points. I enjoy Michaels, and spend a lot there. For the most part, the prices seem fair, although the way the store runs its sales seems a bit phoney baloney to me. For example, over the weeks before Christmas, I bought more than 40 keepsake boxes for treats. I paid three different prices for the boxes, sometimes two different prices on the same day. The "retail" on the boxes was $4.99. I bought most them at 3 for $5. I came back later the same week, and the boxes were 5 for $10.00. Then, later the same day, I decided I needed a few more. Now, they were 7 for $10. Since I don't understand Michael's pricing logic, it begins to feel like playing "Deal or No Deal." At what point do I buy an item (locking the price) rather than checking back every few hours to see whether its' going to get better. Although I am a Black Friday non shopper, I ended up making an emergency run there early in the day. Although the checkout like was ridiculously long, I must commend Michael s for the way it handled the crush of shoppers. Every single register was open. Michael's also had an employee "pre-scanning" customers' carts laden with merchandise. There was also an employee at the registers in the role of "spotter," directing customers to the next available register. The result of all of this was that on perhaps the worst shopping day of the year, checking out at Michael's was fast and painless. read more

Everybody was super helpful except for Trish. I purchased about $25 worth of supplies and when i was unsure about something I went back in to ask her a question and when i got her attention she seemed VERY annoyed that i needed her help ( mind you it was 10 minutes after opening). she was incredibly rude to me and my mother and said over the phone "hold on i have to deal with this customer". i went out of my way to be really nice to her and after i said thank you she said you're welcome with a horrible attitude. i went straight back to the register and returned everything. my mom felt horrible and embarassed and this is not the first time i've heard stories of negative encounters with trish. The girl Sophia at the register was super kind when i went back to return my items and was very understanding. the only redeeming thing about my trip there. read more
