Customer service was non existent. I stepped up to check myself out while two employees were there blowing up balloons. They did not acknowledge me (I was the only customer). As I was leaving, I knew they still wouldn't say a word to me, I turned around and said to them, have a good day. I left that store thinking I'd never go back. Maybe I'm older and out of the loop but I would have had an entirely different experience had I just been acknowledged. read more

Michaels has kept me sane during the pandemic. Recently, I've been completing spin art paintings and have taken on the challenge to paint 100 canvases. Since I'm motivated by savings, Michaels has kept the coupons coming via the app and the mail. Plus, they even marked down canvases for several months. I encourage you to take up a hobby and create, too. The staff are friendly and are very patient with customers. My family is preparing for Easter and it is always a big event. We went to Michaels to pick up supplies to get things ready. We were anticipating the normal yearly decorations of some baskets and a few eggs for the kids to find. However after seeing the selection that Michaels had this year we decided to go out. We have noticed Michaels does an excellent job at having seasonal items that go above and beyond. This year we will have giant Easter eggs and beautiful baskets to make the special day unforgettable. read more

I went to the first person I saw when I could not find a calligraphy pen. I asked the lady if she knew where the pen was, showing her the photo. She was short in response and un-interested to help. She said she had never seen them before. I stared that my friend comes here often to get these for her business. I asked if she could see if someone else knew of them. She said "I'm the manager and I have never seen them" she put her head down. With no apology or even tried to walk back with me to look. I found them when calling my friend and FaceTimed her in. I told the manager where I found them and in case someone else ever came in to look. She didn't say thanks or sorry but with a rude look stared and said "ok". I remember when this location first opened. I know, I'm telling my age a bit with that one. My mom would sift through the floral department for what seemed like hours. It was then that I discovered cross stitching and there that I bought countless pieces that I never finished. Fast forward many years and I have a daughter of my own. Several years back, we attended a knitting class, we were the only ones in the class, so it was a one on one experience. I don't know if they still offer the classes or not though. Now my daughter is an artist, so I find myself in these sort of places often. This Michaels location now seems a bit run down, especially compared to the newer, Hamburg Michaels location and both Hobby Lobby locations. I really can't think of anything that Michaels carries that Hobby Lobby doesn't. read more

Alright, first store review I've ever posted and I just arrived home from the store. I walked in and asked where the iron-on patches were and I was dismissed with a "We don't carry those - try Hobby Lobby." I had literally just checked the website (and what craft store doesn't carry iron-on patches?) and was again dismissed with a "That must be online-only." I went back out to my car to check the website and sure enough, it was in stock and I just looked at the aisle location from the website and escorted myself there. Customer service was terrible. I used to be against computers taking jobs like these but with customer service like that - basically self-service - why not? Good thing I didn't actually need help with anything or any advice. I just left this store. Asked two very nice females where certain items were, they were very helpful. But when I checked out, the cashier by the name of Ryan, literally dropped my change in my hand which resulted in my change hitting the floor. No apology or anything, and he proceeded to give me my back so I can leave. I don't know if he was racist and afraid to touch my hand or if he was just having a bad day, but that's a horrible look for such a great company. Because of him I am giving this store a two star. Common courtesy goes a long way. I'm sure he wouldn't want his money dropped into his hand with such force that it falls to the floor. Smh. read more

I use to not actually be a fan of Michaels until I started knitting. SHHHHH. I love to knit. The olds and crafty tend to flock here like lemmings. At times they kind of wierd me out. There are certain things that you need that are crafty or should I say hobby related and need to pay them a visit. They have a lot of home decor, art supplies, yarns, threads, candy supplies, and many other craft supplies for those of you who are interested. They also do framing if you are needing a picture framed. I find the staff to be friendly and helpful and the place was super clean. Congrats on Michael's being the first store bad enough to write a review about. I bought my children a birdhouse there, assuming by looking at how big the box was, that is was a regular size birdhouse. Instead the birdhouse is the size in comparison, is smaller than a can of pop. I was disappointed as well as my children, so buyer beware of this store, they are selling junk to their customers so they can profit. read more

Lately I have had some unpleasant experience at this location. I understand that covid has caused difficulties for businesses and some issues may be the result of this -hopefully temporary- situation. The yarn section here is not well organized and usually not well tended. The yarn is also no longer shelved altogether- with some kept on island displays and some in the yarn aisles. This makes it harder to see what they have and to make selections. I have gotten the curbside service a couple of times and twice it was great. The third time I had to wait about 20 minutes for the employee to bring my order out. I'm sure it has made things more difficult that there are so many more in-store shoppers now than at the start of the pandemic. Lastly, mask-wearing and social distancing among shoppers here is lax. Yes, they are in the minority, but maybe they should use the curbside service while those who adhere to the rules shop inside the store. read more

I'm glad there's a craft store close to home. The store is always quite well organized and things are fairly clean whenever I visit. If you search for coupons or give the workers your email address at checkout, you can save some money if you shop here often enough. Lately, I've been purchasing Perler beading supplies and magnets or ornament hooks -- I needed a hobby, and I can make it kinda geeky. But I also take my niece here to shop for artist supplies since they carry the paints, brushes, easels, and everything else she needs to advance her artistic skills. The only downside is that the parking here can be a bit bad at times, but it's an easy thing to overlook. read more

If you are handicapped and on your own, don't bother coming here. They have 1 wheelchair. Period. Just one for a store located in a large city of 320,000. Called the other store and they also have the absolute bare minimum requirements of 1 chair. Do they know how many people they alienate? Maybe I'm the only in the history of both stores that have ever had a problem but I seriously doubt it. I understand that storage space may be an issue but I've been in the stores and it would be nothing for them to find a small space for more than 1 wheelchair. Not to mention that most of them, with the baskets, fold up and you can put 2 in the space of 1. Just thought a big store company like Michaels would look into the needs of handicapped and disabled. My local library has better equipment availability for the handicapped! read more

About 5 or 6 years ago was in Michaels asking to match a price, but they would not do it without the paper ad even though I had it on my phone. Took my business to Hobby Lobby who framed over 90 pictures for me in the last 5 years, bought over 40 football or basketball cases, not to mention the other business I sent them. Decided to try Michaels on Lowry Lane Lexington again. Went to frame shop. The person helped me find all my items. All I needed was the brown paper backing for a frame. (You must leave your item for 2 days unlike Hobby Lobby where they usually do it while you wait so I decided to do myself.) I was told they do not sell the paper in the store, but they do sell in the frame shop. I said that I didn't need it cut to size, just please tear me a piece off the roll ( I know how it works) and I will pay for that. She informed me it would take 2 days to fill that order! What?!!!! She said she would not be able to do it and it would take 2 days. Everyone I told this story just looks at me with their mouth open unbelieving how ignorant we have become to customer service. As a society, we have lost our common sense and Michaels has permanently lost my business. Went to Dollar Store and bought a whole role for $1.65. read more

The store has all you could need for your arts and craft project. I like shopping when they have sales and deals on certain items that I may use later on. I typically like Hobby Lobby better because there selection is greater but Michaels is open on Sunday's and for whatever reason Sunday's seem to be project days for us. Well organized store and we were in and out in ten minutes! read more
