This place is a gem for finding 2nd hand items at really great prices. I usually look for foreign language books and office furniture. However, you can find appliances, fixtures, and all sorts of home building and furnishing goods. Due to the high turnover in inventory, the product offerings are always hit or miss. Making frequent visits to this store will be to your advantage. Also, the employees are always friendly and helpful. read more

Always on the hunt for a bargain, I really love to go to secondhand store places to see what I can find, but I have not been impressed with the selection or prices of the ReStore's inventory lately. The store itself is relatively clean and organized, but I feel like the furniture and appliances are slightly overpriced. As with any secondhand store, the selection is highly variable, so if you are looking for something in particular, its a good idea to visit frequently. Habitat has a "nicer goods" area in addition to its main area. The furniture in this section is a little nicer than the main area and priced higher as well. There is also a selection of books and usually dish sets. I will say I'm glad the money that is raised here goes towards a worthy cause! read more

At first I was ok with my experience here. We went to look for a dining room table and a sofa. I was not really blown away by anything (a risk in secondhand stores, I know) until I saw an amazing table and 4 chair set. We bought it and made plans to pick it up when we had a larger vehicle. Here is where the experience nose dived. First we were told we could come by Monday to pick up the table when they were actually closed. Then the kicker was how they LOST the table and 4 chairs. We were told this "happens sometimes" and all I can say is what the actual #$*& are you doing? I understand space may be limited. I get you may be short on staff. How hard is it to put a big ole' SOLD sign on something with a number attached and then write down where that number got put? Maybe keep a record of where purchased items go and have people check that before giving items to people. Hell, even leaving the table where it was with said SOLD sign would be easiest if you truly have no faith in your employees' ability to follow a plan. There is no reason this should happen. read more

The ReStore has expanded!! They have expanded into an adjacent storefront which seems to carry a mix of donations and furniture overstock from retail stores. Also a huge book section now. Still a mix of great selection and customer service. read more

ReStore has a lot of random furniture and household appliances. It has a warehouse feel to the store. They have a small section of housewares like dishes and kitchen/home decorations. Large picture frames, couches, dressers, mirrors, rugs, etc are all commonly found here. The other half of the store has appliances and cabinetry, doors, bathtub and showers, kind of like Home Depot except it's mostly used and sometimes beat up. You never know what you'll find. I probably wouldn't have discovered this place if it wasn't for Yelp. I've been trying to find a place to buy some cheap doors. They're priced for $2 here. The whole place is extremely reasonable. I seen some sinks for $2 also. My father ended up buying a small box of screws for $5, which he said was a steal. There was a ton of paint to choose from. A small selection of books in the corner. Seen some things like microwaves, washer and dryer (which sold while I was there), etc. I bet they get new inventory in all the time. Will definitely be back. I come all the way from Richmond so it's definitely going out of my way. read more

I visited this place for the first time recently, after moving to Lexington. I didn't end up getting anything, but I saw a lot that I liked and it was all reasonably priced. It was definitely more expensive than typical thrift stores, but the furniture was also much higher quality and a lot of it looked like the HFH folks had restored it. They had a good variety of stuff, ranging from kitchen/bathroom cabinetry to bedroom/living room furniture and housewares. It also really seemed like the people working there were having a good time. LOVE LOVE LOVE this store, after living in Lexington for nearly 3 months and venturing through different thrift stores/ (mainly goodwills) I FINALLY found this little piece of heaven. Oddly enough I met a lady at goodwill, and she told me about this place haha and randomly enough we decided to go. So I followed her to this little piece of heaven and as I pulled in I seen it was beside Good foods co-op and the kid inside me danced merrily, for I had just found my paradise. Literally for 3 months I have been looking for a really sweet thrift place to go to and this is by far my favorite around. Everything is so cheap, and a lot of the time they have free stuff. I normally always get free paint every time I go in. (Used but can be salvaged) --(For crafts and random things) Anyways this is one of my favorite thrift places around. I almost feel guilty posting about it, from fear of loosing out on sweets finds because if you go you'll be hooked. And the more people that go, presents me with a bigger challenge of getting those sweet finds. But it needed a review, & it's for a great cause so check them out! read more

I work here (volunteer) every Tuesday afternoon. The fun thing about working in this store is how fast everything goes. It's never the same things twice! The minute you put something out, it's snapped up! The best part is that it inexpensive and the proceeds go (hopefully) to those in need. read more

The new store on Winchester Rd is severely over priced! You might get a deal on a couch but nothing is in mint condition-better off going to Room Service on Liberty Rd.They also ask if you would like to round off your purchase which I find obnoxious considering Im donating to Habitat by purchasing OVERPRICED things that I can buy at Goodwill.The directors or managers need to lower prices to get more people in the door-its not an antique store & you have a lot of competition at your high prices(Peddlers Mall is cheaper) read more

The ReStore amazes me. I'll out myself as a regular. Foremost, it is an arm of the not-for-profit Habitat For Humanity so their sales here raise revenue to put folks into decent housing. Habitat For Humanity doesn't give houses away, they screen families for need, ability to pay a mortgage, and ability to contribute sweat equity. An EXCELLENT charitable organization. Secondly, it is a retail adventure. You never know what you will find in here. Some days it's sadly a waste of five minutes to breeze through. Other days you'll find yourself spending two hours poring over items and deliberating and calling friends and frantically trying to collar one of their overworked staff and deciding how to get that piece home. It seems to be barely-contained chaos but swaddled thickly in enthusiasm, know-how, chutzpah, and kismet. Yes they're pulled constantly in 5 different directions but all the staff I've dealt with really shine. There's often a line at the door for the 10 o'clock opening each morning (except Sunday). More than once I've walked through the store, early or late, and found nothing, then done some shopping at other Southland Drive shops and services, and then decided to walk back through the ReStore and found almost a whole different store. You never know when a truck will pull up in the back and unload a treasure...or a heap of treasures. This ain't Goodwill; no textiles. It's household and construction items, furniture, doors/windows, and a wild couple of aisles of odd-and-ends. Lots of lighting appliances. Toilets. Pianos. Homebrew paint. A decent "Book Nook". Sometimes even plants and tulip bulbs for free or cheap! You just never know. I overheard a manager telling someone else that they rank in the top 10 ReStores in the nation out of several hundred! Go soon and marvel at what we have here in your Lexington backyard on the funky-in-itself Southland Drive corridor. read more
