Michaels - Arts & Crafts Near Me - Lady Lake, Florida

So, I stopped by Michaels on 441 to pick up an online order on NEW YEAR's EVE...just before their closing time...considering the timing, I would probably be THE MOST unappreciated customer in ANY store ANYWHERE. They had an online sale on an item that our community committee needs on a monthly basis, so I had ordered all that showed as being in stock. Once I arrived at the store, I went back to see if by chance, they had any more still in stock. I couldn't find the isle where they would be located, and heard the announcement that they were closing and to proceed to the cash register. I then headed in that direction and luckily ran into an employee. I asked her if she could tell me in which ilse my item could be located (explaining my online purchase and just wanting to see if there were any more still available). Not only did she tell me the isle number where they were located, but she then proceeded to walk me back their location and started to open drawers below (which I would never have done on my own). And, in the very last drawer that she had opened, she managed to find a couple more of what I needed. She was SUPER!!! Hooray!! Now, when I got in line for the cash register, when it was finally my turn, the price that was rang up was higher than the price I had paid online (Not a great deal if I was buying for me, but I was buying for a committee that I had to answer to). When I asked if they could match the price, it became an issue. Fortunately, the SAME PERSON that had helped me find the extra items earlier magically showed up at the cash register and "Presto", she adjusted the store price to the same as the price I had paid online. (I'm not slighting the girl at the cash register because, like I said earlier, it was closing time and that poor gal just wanted to get home to celebrate New Year's Eve with her loved ones.) But, as I exited the store, and my "God sent little miracle worker" locked the door behind me. I found myself giving her a hug, wishing her a Happy New Year, and telling her that she needs to be cloned. In addition, after I paid and left, she called me and told me that she was able to save me a lot more money by being able to use mats that were already in stock...and they were already cut and ready to go! Similar to my review of Joann's...I have always liked Michael's, but it's not quite what I'm looking for. It's good for fabric, floral, frames, etc. But lacks in other areas. I prefer more arts and crafts like paints, clay, art tools, etc. Perhaps I'm expecting too much as I wish it were like a Hobby Lobby. Sales are okay and they usually have a nice selection of holiday items. (Very little Valentines though). read more

Rude, unhelpful staff and the store is never stocked with up to date Tim Holtz, Jane Davenport, Finnabair, Ranger, etc. I was there today 8/13/20 for the newest TH Halloween and it is nowhere to be found. I asked the cashier as I checked out when they would be getting it and she had no idea what I was asking about. Turns out my cashier Kelly hates her job and wearing a mask is a great way to try to disguise her disgust. She didn't ask me if I found everything I needed, didn't ask me if I had a coupon, didn't ask me to enter my number on the keypad, just told me my total. When I was trying to pull up my store coupon on the purposefully inaccessible internet they constantly have, I asked if there was a current coupon so I could avoid holding up the line if there wasn't one. I showed her the coupon I get via my email to prove it wasn't loading. She told me I had to go to Michael's dot com instead. When I did that and that site also didn't load she was irritated. As people were lining up behind me, she begrudgingly pulled out a paper coupon for 20% from behind the counter and sighed as if the discounts come out of her check. A word about customer service: A good attitude and even some small talk go a long way when dealing with people. Try explaining what you're thinking or doing so others don't feel as if they are the problem; we're just there to give you our money. With COVID shutting many businesses down, it would behoove you to hire people that actually enjoy their jobs and have some knowledge about products and/or product names. I can go online and order my supplies and I have to deal with zero rude people. And, I also don't have to screw around with email/website coupons that won't load in the store and cashiers who think they are hiding their bad attitudes behind COVID masks. read more

I took my first class this weekend and it was great! Made a floral and it turned out better than I expected. Cindy and CiCi had their hands full yet they never lost patience and were extremely helpful. I'm hooked now! Thanks for a fun experience. read more

It's a shame that the staff doesn't know hardly anything about the products they sell. Arts and crafts are FUN but this store is depressing. I found it to be almost impossible to get any assistance. The store might be worth a 2nd visit if they had people working there with an interest in arts and crafts and a teaspoon of knowledge. read more

THe prices are excessively expensive for my personal budget today, but I can wander the aisles for longer than any companion of mine sees to be rational in search of the tools to make something unique and fun. BRING YOUR RECEIPT for ANY returns or the $$$$ you paid could have gone on sale to $ and that's what you'll get back. Happy Crafting. read more
