Good selection, but frustrating shopping experience. Many of the prices aren't clearly marked, especially on sale and clearance items. There is a price checker in the store, but the cable is cut on it so it does not work. When I spoke to an associate, she said that they are encouraging people to use the app for price checking. So, I downloaded the app and didn't immediately see how to price check in it. I work with technology for a living, so usually I can navigate systems pretty well. However, the path to the price checker is through the search bar, and then the small scan icon in the top right. There is no button that says price check, or anything that would be obvious to a typical app user. The associate helping me find the price check in the app seemed less than thrilled to help. I think it's because she frequently gets this question and that suspicion was confirmed when I spoke to some other customers while we were in line who were also had negative experiences. So, after having downloaded the app, I went back to attempt to price check the items. Only about half of them came up with prices when I scanned them. So, I took a cart of mystery items to the front. When in line, the cashier said multiple times to the line that they can use self check out. However, that was not an option for me because the prices were very much up in the air, and I wasn't going to go alone at self check out and hope for the best. Overall, I think that there's an opportunity for Michael's to cater to the (older) demographic that shops there by offering a simple to use price checker in the store. At bare minimum, they need to work on their app design. In terms of the store, layout and general quality of merchandise, it was a very typical experience when it comes to craft stores. The full price items were incredibly expensive and the clearance items, once I found out how much they were, were incredibly inexpensive. So, put on your math hat, download the app, and be ready for a slightly frustrating experience if you want to shop here. read more

Stopped in for my wife to make an exchange, but I also needed to find some silver leaf for a project...unfortunately, my wife was unable to make the exchange because no one working the registers could figure out how to do it, and the manager was "too busy" to come to the front of the store. While she was wasting time at the front I went I. Search of the silver leaf foil, which was no easy task. I had no idea where it would be and could not even find an employee to help me. After about a p minutes I finally found someone on my he floor that could only describe where it was, but could not be bothered to walk me back to it. When I eventually found it, I realized it was a solid 3x more expensive than Hobby Lobby for the same product. Nevertheless, that was the end of that visit, and we headed for hobby lobby. Needless to say, we won't bother shopping here anymore. As much as I don't like Hobby Lobby, the customer service here, and the inability to make transactions on the register is not worth the headache...nor is their blatant price gouging. Not sure how they've survived this long, but they will not get out business any long. read more

Michaels - Exterior - Arts & Crafts Near Me - Greensboro, North Carolina

A sales girl was very rude to me. I called and asked if they had hand fans. I needed some for line dancing. . She said, "No, we don't have fans". I looked on their website, and it showed that they sell hand fans. It showed 2 different styles. I went in the store to look. I showed the sales clerk a picture. She said, "Did you just call on the phone? Those on the website are online only. It says on the website that we do not carry it in the store". I felt like she was throwing shade at me with her rude attitude. I looked around the store, and I found packs of hand fans that were in the picture on my phone. They were in the Memorial Day section, in red, white, and blue colors. I took them to the counter, and told her I found what I was looking for. They did indeed have fans. She said, "Those are red, white, and blue. You did not say you wanted red, white and blue". I had literally just showed her a picture of red, white, and blue fans on Michael's website. She had claimed they didn't have them in the Store. I said, "It doesn't matter what color they are. I just wanted fans. Point is, you have fans. I'm glad I came in and looked, since you were not able to help me!" She told me to scan my purchase. I swear, people are just lazy these days. Not only that, she did not admit being wrong. read more

Came in today to get information for a custom frame. The young lady was working with someone and there was a gentleman in line. I've never seen just one person working in frames especially during the holidays. After 20 minutes, the lady back in frames was still working with the lady she had when I walked up. She began to ask her peer Melissa for assistance. Before she could finish her ask Melissa quickly responded, "I'm not here yet!" in an aggressive tone. If she wasn't "working yet", she shouldn't be seen nor should she walk back and forth with items and trash, which would denote she is working. When the guy in front of me was done, I preceded to walk forward only for her to start working with someone else. She totally disregarded the fact that I had been there for at least 30 mins behind the gentleman. Now two problems: she was the only one working and there were multiple lines. Needless to say I walked out without purchasing a thing! Michael's you all have GOT to do better!! read more

It's your typical Michael's store. In a number of the seasonal areas of the store, the shelves were somewhat bare. My largest disappointment was the women's bathroom. There are 3 stalls...2 of those stalls were out of order with one completely missing a toilet. Someone was in the third stall. How long have the stalls been out of order? Hopefully they will get fixed soon! read more

This is probably one of the stores that I could spend hours in without getting tired or bored . They had some amazing deals on Christmas stuff last week and I had so much fun planning out holiday decor ideas from the stuff I bought here . The store was kind of messy and it took me quite sometime to figure out where everything was . They have promotions running almost always so its always a good idea to check online coupons before you go . read more

Great store. Don't have fabrics. Nor do they have quilting squares although they have quilting equipment. Michael's has everything else you could want. Joanns Fabrics was closed and space for lease when I went today. So this may be the only choice. If you want seasonal you better go 2 months early or the entire selection will be gone. read more

This isn's one of the most updated Michael's I have been to. I wish all Michael's were set up the same. Its annoying knowing where everything is at the Winston store but having to wander around lost trying to find things at the Greensboro location. The staff was really friendly checking me out. The line moved quickly and efficiently. In general I am a big Michael's fan. I can usually always find what I need and well a few things I didn't exactly plan on. read more

I took my artwork in to be stretched and framed and when I picked it up it had a pencil mark on the canvas that was a huge eye sore. They insisted it was there when I dropped it off but I always launder it and make sure it is perfect since I am paying well over $100 for this to be framed. I told them it was unacceptable so they took it apart and I took it home and cleaned and ironed it. When I picked it up 2nd time it had pen marks all over it....REALLY??? The girl then said they would take it apart and give me my money back since they can't remove the pen without damaging the artwork. They need to hire competent people so this crap stops happening. I will never go there again and would like to tell others to go elsewhere. read more

I have always had really good experiences here. Except today when I went to use my Birthday coupon they sent me. It was a 50% off one item coupon. The item I wanted was already on sale (25%) off. Many other stores have a promo override button which allows the customer to get the best deal. So if they have a coupon for 50% off they can use that over the 25% sale. Apparently not with Michaels... so now I'm out my birthday coupon which expired today.. very poor customer service. read more

This was one of the most pleasant shopping experiences I've had in a long time since this pandemic has been out. I had the honor to have a very patient, pleasant young lady to assist me. This store was awsome, very clean, everything was in it's place I really had to commend her on the job she was doing and she was the only floor person on duty at that time. It really looked like that was your first day of operation, she made a very painful day I was having an enjoyable one. Any retailer would be honored to have a employee like her, someone that takes pride in their job and company! I had to commend her for the fabulous way that store looked to have been assisting customers, doing her normal job and still be patient along with a pleasant smile. After being in retail myself in the past for 28yrs I know what how and what it. This store's customer service is horrible. Very difficult to get assistance when you are looking or need something in the store and never have enough cashiers for checkout. End up waiting forever. Very frustrating! read more

This place can get so crazy at times. You would have thought it was Black Friday when it was actually Veteran's Day. The store was packed! I always like Michael's selection of ribbons and decorations, from holiday to the home. It was a little difficult finding someone to assist me in the rush of people yesterday, but once I did, they were quite helpful (as always). read more

Love this place...a place where dreams are made of. It makes me happy, calm and relaxed. I love how everything is clearly marked and laid out. The seasonal decorations are rotated frequently (sometimes to early) and the colors for party decorations, scrapbook paper, ribbon and flowers and beautifully organized. The associates for the most part are helpful, though I know working in retail can be hard some days. Always check their app for coupons!! read more
