First things, this is one of my daughter's favorite store, she is 15 and love to do arts and crafts and being creative. She always finds what she is looking for for all her ideas. For me, I decided to repaint a wall case wooden display and I went to the store for a few different colors of paint (Dessert Tan, Navy Blue and Black), primer and brushes. Even though I did not find all the exact colors I needed except for the black, I did find something very close to the other two colors. I'm giving it 4 stars because even though the store had a lot of variety of different colors according to the shelves pricing labels, most of the shelves were empty (It could be because of the whole pandemic and deliveries are slower than usual). May be I should've order them online, but I just did not want to wait jajaja. But I'm happy with what I got. Colors are nice. Store is clean and neat, staff are following all the COVID 19 regulations. Lost of parking. Haven't had any issues here at this store. I can't really say much for the staff, I don't really ask for help, I just walk around and eventually find what I'm looking for lol. But I can say that the cashiers are friendly, I usually try to make a small conversation while I'm paying, and they do respond very kindly. read more

Thinking first into the past and comparing it to the present. They are having supply issues but are working on bringing this issue back to previous levels. Example: we needed felt and asked the employee for help since neither of the 3 pieces were right for th e projects. She said the boss was aware and trying to get shipments more often. Tara gave me absolutely amazing service today! Her expertise in sewing and sewing machines made me feel confident in my selection of machine. There was a problem at checkout where a voucher I earned was not working properly, and she creatively deduced how to solve the issue. They will ruin your credit if you use their credit card!! I'm a graphic designer that frequent Michaels a lot for craft and art needs, so i thought hey might as well get a card. I lost 76 points from 1 missed payment because THEIR ONLINE PAYMENT SYSTEM WAS DOWN! YOU CAN NOT PAY IN STORE OR IN PERSON!!! It took me 2 days to finally get my payment to go through (again because of their website no fault of mine) and they reported me to the credit bureau even after confirming the known website problem! I paid off my card and closed my account immediately! Michaels is a horrible company with horrible customer service and no one is American when you call in. Beware of this location. I'm honestly surprised it's still in business. Customer service is by far some of the worst I've encountered. I asked a simple question to two ladies up at the front of the store and was given a very snarky response including eye rolls in return. I had bought a cheaper poster frame spent $30 on it for work. When I went to unwrap the plastic off the frame I noticed the plastic was cracked. I returned to the store 2 days later with my receipt, told them the situation and the cashier gave me a little bit of a hard time. she was saying it's against the store policy to return it because it was broken, even tho I explained I purchased it in that condition. I told her I was willing to exchange it for one that wasn't broken. She told me there were 3 in stock. I went to look for it and couldn't find it anywhere, I asked an associate working in the framing area and she told me it was out of stock... then in order to return the frame I stood in line no joke about 10 minutes while they let other customers get rang up and pass me in the line because I had a return. Very poor customer service and they definitely do not have a customer first mindset. It's disappointing because I'm an avid customer but this was a huge turn off. The woman who helped me at the checkout was pleasant but the original associate who I talked to had a very aggressive attitude, although she was customer servicing her tone was a bit harsh and very unfriendly. read more

False advertising. I saw something in store and went home to check to see everything I would need. Went online to purchase (found out 50% online but only B1G1 50% in store, that alone is ridiculous). Tried to purchase online and pick up in store and it says not in stock at this location so I called and they told me since they only had one they wouldnt sell it to me. That they save those in case someone walks in. So I tried to purchase online and have shipped to me and kept getting an error code. Called main customer service number and customer service rep also got same error code and said I couldn't purchase it. He emailed it to someone in a different department and told me to try again in 24 hours. Ridiculous amount of time spent to have that outcome. I figured I wasted so much time on the phone and online that I might as well waste a few more minutes and write this review. The girl in the framing department needs a lesson in customer service. I went in as I wanted to see the options for framing and matting. I just wanted her to show me options but she was too clueless to do this. Looked at me like what I was asking was out of the question and I needed to go online and do it. I explained again that I just wanted to see the options as I couldn't get an idea online of the materials and that I would then place my order online once I knew what I wanted. It's like I was speaking a different language to her. She just stood there like she had no concept of what I was requesting. Do better Michael's. the worst customer service I've ever experienced. The manager (gray-haired lady) is the most condescending person. She gets in the face of her employees and tries to intimidate them. She's aggressive towards the customers, including myself. I've made several complaints about her but nothing is done. I won't shop here anymore. Hobby Lobby and Joanns are in the same parking lot. Decent store.... Its clean... easy to get around in... very friendly framing employees... But the employees at the check out stands.... just WOW. Actually, I have only dealt with two females that are cashiers. One was incredibly rude, on two different occasions - pretty sure she is annoyed she has to help anybody... and the other was just REALLY weird. Really, really weird. Shopped early Saturday morning. Walked in and was immediately greeted! Nice! Couldn't find exactly what I needed when an employee asked me if I needed help. (Clearly I was looking lost). She took the info I had and went to check the stock. In a short time she was back telling me they didn't have any more in stock but offered to call surrounding stores to see if they had any. When I checked out the cashier asked me if I had found everything ok. And when I left, told me to have a good day! Overall, way above and beyond my expectations. When I moved to OC 3 years ago, I hit up Michaels first for the artificial floral arrangements you'll see around my house. I can't really sustain real plants so this was the perfect place to go and all of their stuff is usually 50-75% off so I scored. I was here again yesterday shopping for my first Xmas tree. Yes, folks I've never had a tree before and this year, I got one! Michael's has some amazing ornaments and xmas tree decorations. I just wish the skirts were cheaper. I'll have to improvise with some fabric. The staff here is super friendly. I've always been able to get all the help I need which I love because if I can't find something I get annoyed. I love Michaels for my annual Christmas decor shopping. They have the best chrysanthemums of all colors. My tree's colors are rose gold. Unfortunately, they run out so fast. Last year, there were barely any left after Thanksgiving. This year, I thought I would beat the crowds and did my shopping before thanksgiving. That didn't help much. I hope they restock because everything is so good. I bought a number of beautiful garlands too this year. Probably the best Michael's I've been to, ever. Not everyone who works here is dead inside. Also, the cutting counter was not busy after work whereas at other locations, it's often a 30 min wait. The lady at the cutting counter was super friendly and pleasant. She helped me efficiently and willingly confirmed the discounted prices on the materials I had picked up. But when I went to get spray paint which is locked up (to paint over little pumpkins and gourds), I encountered someone giving a customer craft tips so I quietly stood by and scanned the spray cans behind the glass, waiting for them to finish. The customer observed me waiting and asked the employee if she wanted to help me first. I happened to glance over at the comment, thinking I'd say "Oh no, I can wait" but instead saw the employee side-eye me, locked up the paint cabinet and went back to chatting with the customer. (I was wearing a work dress and looked un-hoodlum-like, I thought!) When they finally wrapped up, I got a "Did you need something?" as if annoyed I was there. I explained what I was I was trying to achieve with as little paint as possible whereupon she simply pointed out the smallest can of paint they sell. I did not get the same helpful tips or pleasantries the other customer received. The guy at the counter was pleasant as well but the above is basically the best you could hope for at a Michael's. Today I went to Michael's to return an item I ordered online . I was sent the wrong item but the correct item was listed on the receipt. Because of this, they refused to return it. Made absolutely no sense. So I am out the purchase price and the shipping. I left the purchases I was planning on making at the counter and left the store. I will not be returning nor will I be ordering online. There are too many similar stores in the area with good customer service to ever deal with Michael's again. MICHAEL'S HAS LOST MY BUSSINESS. We came into the Foothill Ranch location for their advertised sale on holiday décor, and found two July 4th buntings. All of the endcaps in the front of the store had signs that said "50% off all red white and blue décor". Your cashier scanned the items, but the prices were rather high, so we mentioned the discount signage. He began to argue and refute us, in a less than respectful manner, never checking the price, just debate. I put them back, and double checked the sign on the endcap where I took them. I came back where my wife was checking out and quoted the signs. Your cashier began to retort and argue in a rather disrespectful manner. When I said it's false advertising not to honor the sale, he broke off into a political tirade, disrespecting us, your company, and our country. Among his MANY snide quips were "take it up with corporate, this is just a job for me" and "Welcome to America, everything is false advertising here." I am gravely shocked that Michael's would have such disrespectful and offensive employees. I can only assume you hire these people to represent your corporate values: 1) Disrespect to customers 2) Disrespect to our country 3) Bait & switch pricing. I shopped at Michaels in Foothill Ranch on Portola Pkwy. I bought two rubber stamps, that my wife Diana collects. One said, 'Merry Christmas' with some leaves under the two words. The other said, "Cold Noses warm Hearts' with a picture of a dog's nose with a smile and some whisker's. The third item was; Bell's Gourmet Popcorn Factory. this cool is about 1 foot wide, in one window a snowman is making popcorn, and in the other two windows, popcorn is going around like a carousel. I work in retail, and I completely understand the chaos that Covid-19 has caused, and how hectic a store environment can be. However, my entire experience at this Michael's last Sunday was the WORST trip I've ever had. I had a very straightforward exchange (6 skeins of yarn for 2 different ones). My transaction was split up into FOUR different transactions, the cashier (I believe her name was Carmen?) took 5 different phone calls while helping me. I was standing at the register for probably 20-30 minutes, as she kept making mistake after mistake, and having to give me 3 refund cards because she chose not to return all of the items on one transaction. I try to be as patient as possible with retail workers in these times, but this whole experience made me want to rip my hair out. read more

Love to walk around here. When I do I almost want to create a project just because of all the ideas you come up with when you're in here! Love the coupons and prices are decent. Plenty of fun seasonal decor to choose from. The people are nice but not too much interaction with customers. Lots of parking available. Steve the manager is mishandling UPS dropoff packages. Upon dropping off a package there should be a drop off receipt provided, usually through text or email. Steve skipped the process and didn't do it. After he's trying to end the conversation I tell him there is a confirmation of receipt required. He has already closed out of the program without entering my info so now he cannot provide. He scans the package again but now there's notification the item has already been scanned in the system waiting for pickup and cannot be re-scanned. Most employees know how to do this. Instead of taking responsibility for his error he blames it on the system. This is troublesome as it could be many situations he doesn't accept responsibility. He tells me I can take the package elsewhere because he can't deliver proper service. This is also incorrect as the package is already in the UPS system and will not scan in at other locations. Managers should be better than this. read more

My daughter is into art and so we are always looking for supplies. This location of Michaels is so far her favorite. It's always tidy and they have a great selection of pretty much everything. This last time and the time before we were in we were helped by Noah. Noah was super helpful and very courteous, she even got my daughter to talk which is a task in itself because well ....teenagers. Even though she had to prepare for the store's closing, she went the extra mile to help me out. One of my coupons wasn't properly applied to my purchase so she had to manually redo the entire purchase for me to make sure I got the best deal. She was very friendly, professional and helpful! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AND TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I came in looking for one specific item and the 1st person was kind but didn't know. The 2nd person attempted to help but she kept questioning why I was going to do it that way. It was rude because I had no clue what I was talking about because I've never done what needed to be done. So instead of her questioning me she should have helped clarify. Well they didn't have what I needed. So after 20 mins I did my own shopping for other things I needed. The cashier is who I had the biggest issue with. She looked like she could care less about her job. One item rang up as 50% off but the sign showed 60%. She told me to go and take a picture, I did and upon taking the photo I discovered the issue. The promotion had expired. But it's their fault for still having the sign up, therefore it should be honored. She was clearly upset in doing so. It's common sense to take care of your customers! And 10% isn't gonna hurt you. It was honestly ridiculous the way she was acting because she didn't want to do it. At the end of the transaction I got upset and started saying how terrible the customer service was today. And all this girl could say was "I'm sorry you feel that way" NO. That's now how you respond! Be a proactive listener and empathize. I didn't yell or curse. She didn't care what so ever. This location has horrible customer service. I do craft blogs for companies and frequent this and other Michaels very often. I have even seen 2 customers (at different times get in arguments with employees due to the employees being rude or non helpful ( in 1 case the employee gave the wrong information to a customer and when the customer nicely corrected the employee the employee was very rude and said well how am I to know where everything is). I have never been greeted with a friendly hello, I have never even seen a employee smile (except for the new young male cashiers upfront, they have never been overly friendly but they have never been rude as I have seen many of the older women that work there, and I have never never had anybody come up to me and ask if they can help me find anything. I had planned to write this review due to my service today and when I read the other reviews it is very obvious that this location has a problem with horrible customer service. I sincerely hope that Michael's corporate office read these reviews and see that due to the fact that hobby lobby and Joanns are within walking distance at this location needs a customer service overhaul. read more
