Annmarie from framing was rude. Not genuine. You should find another job that brings you happiness.

After a multitude of rude experiences I have finally had enough and decided to write a review…read more My first time visiting I bought some yarn and upon checkout I made a comment about how I did not know what I was going to do with it but that I loved the color and had to buy it. A lady who headed into the back room said as she was passing "Yeah I know all knitters are hoarders".....makes you want to buy yarn right? no. so my next visit was with my husband and then newborn. My husband was pretty disgusted by the group of women who sat knitting talking about how hot some police officer in Little Compton was. I guess gossiping woman meet here. my next visit I went with my baby and again there was a group of older women knitting. you know what would have been nice? If one offered to watch my baby for all of 5 minutes so I could shop. No instead they pretty much ignored me. which leads me to my visit today. I went with my 2.5 yr old son. Not an easy task to try to shop and watch your son. I told him he could touch the bell on the way out or else he would sit on timeout, so being a toddler he touched the bell (on the door). So I put him on timeout where he said "Hi" at least a dozen of times to the 3 women knitting. Not 1 of them said hi back or anything. Maybe these women don't have grandchildren. In any case they were rude. Ignoring a 2.5 yr old is really nice. I had over $50 of yarn in my hand that I put back because I could not stand being in a store that had women who could not stop and say hi to my son for all of 5 seconds. I will also add that they have never asked if I needed help finding yarn, needles, or anything. They have never told me about their knitting group that meets ( I heard from some other lady that shops there). It is too bad that the customer service and clientele are so rude. I give them 1 star on friendliness and helpfulness and 1 star because they had buttons I wanted to buy today. I will never ever shop at this store again. i will buy my yarn and buttons online.

I've been going to Sisters of the Wool since shortly after they opened. I LOVE this yarn store! The…read moreowner is very knowledgeable and always willing to help someone find yarn that will work for their project and to offer hints and steps that can make your project easier and improve the finished product. I love the selection of yarns and there's always something new to see. I have to take issue with the review by Sarah G. Her complaint about women talking about a police officer they considered to be hot has zero to do with the store. If she's offended by women talking about a good looking man I suspect she's often offended, since lots of women do that. As for expecting the knitters to babysit or entertain her child, she needs to get a grip! I go there to knit and relax not to care for someone else's child. It's a place of business not a day care center. I know the group of knitters to which she refers. They are a close knit (no pun intended) group of friends who've known each other for years. They know me but ignore me, too. Who cares!? I don't expect other customers to cater to my personality or quirks. The store staff has always been helpful, not just to me, but to every person I've seen come through the door.

The Falmouth Art Market, set along the edge of Gus Canty Community Center's parking lot near Main Street, allows visitors to see well-crafted, handmade pieces up close and to speak one-on-one with talented local artists. Driving past to the farmers market at the Marine Park down a street near this lot, I saw the tents of this market and made a point to go back. When I arrived, I saw that I wanted to stop at each of the twenty or so vendors. I decided my strategy would be to start at one end and work my way down the line. (Very tactful, if I do say so myself.) At each tent, I saw the remarkable work of each vendor--telling them so, too--and spoke with each, hearing the passion and joy as he or she spoke. Each was incredibly proud of his or her work. Many said they would not put out their work if they did not truly love it. I saw everything from scarves, to handblown glass jewelry, to seaglass artwork, to woodwork, to paintings, to pottery. (There was even an artist at one end painting right there for all to look on while he did so!!) I purchased a colorful and one-of-a-kind glass pendant from one artist who depicted how she layered the different colors of glass as she blowed it by hand; a photo that looks like a painting of a beach scene with footprints in the sand toward a mist in the back of the scene from another artist; several unique and modern prints, one of a sailboat and of the Falmouth Road Race, from an artist from a local gallery; a framed glass piece with a sand dollar floating in the center of glass, surrounded by pebbles and seaglass pieces from another artist. Each piece available at this market is truly unique and unlike anything you will ever see. I applaud these artists, their talents and their hard work. It is evident that these artists know what they are doing in their crafts, and they are all so personable when you meet with them. I really enjoyed my time at this market!! This market runs every Thursday from noon to 6pm, from mid-June to early September. It is set up perfectly and conveniently with the farmers market, and you get a taste (literally with the farmers market) of different vendors from the area in all areas--from art to edibles. It is definitely something to check out if you are looking for homewares or a gift for a family member or friend. You will undoubtedly find something you will love, and you will enjoy speaking with and supporting local talent. Be sure to bring cash, as many vendors only accept that, though some may take credit cards. The Falmouth Art Market showcases outstanding work from local artists, each of whom is very friendly and kind and shows a true love for his or her craft. If you want to see passion and to support local talent, then visit this market!!
