Well situated, good parking, a clean organized store and if you can't find what you need here JoAnn's is literally next door.

I hadn't been there before so it was really was like uncovering some beautiful treasures I hadn't been expecting to find. Oh! And the space has the most gorgeous flower mural on the wall! Sets the tone for the shop perfectly. For the holidays they had some really love displays featuring bottle brush trees, locally made ornaments (which looked like they were perhaps from Pewabic and Motawi Tile, though I may be wrong), other bits of Christmas decor as well as unique gifts like craft sets, textiles, some stationary/cards, etc. They also carry some really lovely baby gifts, some kitchen-y things, candles, glassware, home decor, bath and body care, seasonal goodies, houseplants and planters, and more. I loved browsing everything they carried and in the end I walked out with a few purchases, including one of the beautiful Christmas trees and a beautiful embroidery kit of peonies and other flowers as a gift for my aunt. My only wish is that I lived closer so I could come by more often. I highly recommend popping in whether your in town or you make a dedicated trip to purchase a gift for someone. You'll easily find something for anyone.

What a cool shop! There's even crafty stuff in here if you're not a knitter. There were gorgeous…read morestamped patterns for needlework, and a huge display of drawers holding lots and lots of buttons. Besides all the beautiful yarns and projects full of potential, the best thing about this shop was the people. The owner, Charlene, is very helpful and willing to assist you at any point in your project. The rapport between her and the shopping and knitting guests is warm and wonderful. Knitting is on my list of things to pick up someday, and I'll definitely head here to do it!

"Come on in! We're AWESOME!"…read more This was the sign I noticed - much smaller than the sign out front that declares that YARN is sold here, but it's what grabbed my attention and made me smile. The chalkboard by the door made me laugh out loud (do take the time to walk up and read it for yourself). My first experience at Stitch in Time began with these positive postings outside, and I had been hopeful about this local-enough-to-me shop (I live in Brighton) after having learned that it has been in business 27 years and that the owner, Charlene Hatfield, is a certified instructor with the Yarn Council of America. Wow. And wowed I was upon entering. Among the first items I spied were my favorite brands of needles, then some beautiful yarn, and more beautiful yarn. Then Charlene popped around the corner - it was a Wednesday, and she was at the table with those gathered for open knitting each week, available from 10 AM until 6 PM. I was given a verbal guide to the store, invited to open cupboards and doors to look and touch anything, and had some of the specialty yarns highlighted - some from Dublin, Stitch in Time's own line, and others from indie dyers from the US. The armoire stocked with Jamieson's Shetland Spindrift has to be seven feet tall, six feet wide, and stocked with more colors than I have seen anywhere I have looked (as I haven't yet been to Scotland)! I have found *my* LYS here in Michigan! The feeling of warmth and welcome exuded by each person I met, the caliber of Charlene's knitting knowledge and ability to elevate my skills, and the inspiration that adorns the walls, tops of cabinets, and shelves all combine to make *this* the Gold Standard shop in The Mitten! Stitch in Time, you ARE awesome!
