JOANN Fabric and Crafts

I stopped in here twice in the past week and both times, I found the staff pleasant and helpful,…read moreespecially since I was not familiar with their app that has all the mega saving coupons (I saved 60%!) Our grandson's band needed fabric for the costumes and the local store didn't have what we needed. The closest location was Bloomington and I am not surprised that they had it. They are a "fabric"-centric store and less arts and crafts than the other Joann's I've been to. The clerk mentioned that they often get requests for fabric from other Joann's around the area due to the supply at this location. When I had to go back a second time to get more material (we had used the last of the bundle), the clerk remembered the order from the previous day and was able to track down another bundle that was out on the floor. Mission back on schedule due to the timely and friendly help we received. Review #1562

While there is a lot to choose from the company is becoming more and more greedy. Less coupons and…read moredeals which takes away from the ability for everyone to enjoy art. There are some employees and especially managers that are rude in general. I bought paint that was supposed to be on sale. I looked at the receipt and saw they didn't apply the coupon. I went back to get it changed and the manager I dealt with was condescending. It's not worth it to be rushed and not listened to. Especially considering how expensive things are. I much prefer Griffy's or just shopping online.

I am always looking for creative, UNIQUE ideas when doing invitations...and usually have things IN…read moreMIND that I want but can never find. It is always extremely frustrating when I scour the internet for hours and come up empty-handed. I have very specific tastes and like invitations to my parties and hosted events to SHOW exactly what you are going to get just by reading/looking at the invitation inside the envelope. The invitation is always anyone's FIRST IMPRESSION about the upcoming event and the standard options just aren't my style. Thank all things good that I found Christy! She is owner of Creative in Bloom and handles every order personally. She has done four invitations for me starting with my sister's bridal shower and bachelorette party invitations. She has since done two other awesome invites, my baby shower invites, my sister-in-law's Christmas cards, my best friend's save the dates and is now working with me on her shower and bachelorette party invites. I just cannot get ENOUGH of her unique mind!! I always send her my event info and ask for something interesting like a "catch phrase" for the invitation. I also am very high maintenance about size, price and colors. She always manages to give me EXACTLY what I am looking for and I didn't even KNOW what I wanted to begin with!! For example, for my shower ...which was hosted on 4th of July, she coined the term "Marcie and Erich are welcoming their little firecracker!" with fireworks in the background and a baby buggy in the front. This is just one idea ...after all, she will come with a unique twist of words for ANY event! Not only that but she is responsive, and I value that highly! I am in the wedding industry myself and work very hard at keeping brides happy by being on my toes. She is certainly that, if not more! She gives options! She allows you to change your mind! She works with a no holds bar attitude towards her work. The sky is the limit! I 100% recommend her for ANYTHING you want to host...rehearsal dinners, weddings, showers, birthday parties, the list goes on and on!! She will create something that is different, new and ALL ABOUT YOU...representing your event, showing you off, giving you something to talk about! Tell her Marcie sent you!

From the owner: Invitations + Announcements + holiday cards + change of address cards + save the dates + thank you…read morecards + programs + personal stationery + calligraphy + envelope addressing + more!

Much of this store is local/regionally-made art. Jewelry, paintings, photos, sculpture, wood…read morespecialties, apparel like hats and gloves, wall art, all made by area artisans are here. The prices are reasonable for the quality of work. This store is run by a non-profit artist organization, The Pillar Group. There's another similar shop at College Mall in Bloomington, where Victoria's Secret once stood past Target. The art is diverse and has a local and Indiana theme to it. While most jewelry is focused towards women, there are a few pieces of men's gear. It has the feel of a gift shop, and indeed there are greeting cards, and wrapping available for purchases. It's a very wide variety of handmade art, and it's all well-presented. I'm embarrassed how much I've purchased here; the values are pretty good for what I look for. Parking is downtown-crappy, but the store is bright and easy to shop.

Another benefit of getting out to explore your community is finding a business you didn't know was there and you are pleasantly surprised by what you find. Kind of like finding a hidden treasure! My wife was shopping next door inside Tivoli Fashions in the Fountain Square Mall just south of the county courthouse in Bloomington. Since the shopping she was doing had nothing to do with me, I wandered out into the mall and found By Hand Gallery just across the hallway. If you enjoy looking at hand crafted items like wall hangings, ceramics, and small items that can be gifts for either your friends or for yourself. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted and asked if I needed any assistance. Even when I explained that I only stopped in to pass time while my wife shopped next door, he said he understood and to feel free to browse and ask questions. I was feeling welcomed, not watched or like I was wasting his time. That's good business. I really enjoyed looking over the items. I don't do a lot of decorating in our home, but I did see things here that I thought would look nice. I didn't make any purchases at this time, but the items I looked at seemed of good quality and worth considering coming back for. Review #3911
