I went to MVA as a client for a haircut and to check out the production studio after having a tour of the full service studio I went upstairs for a hair cut by one of the beauty school students Jayden. It was one of the best hair cuts I have ever had. I found the place very friendly and welcoming and will definitely be coming back. I was a former student here at the Michael Vincent Academy. I graduated last year, and boy do I love it here. I took the beauty course and I signed up for the Affilate program. I would say that it was totally worth it . Within a couple of months after graduating I was already working on set with Vivica A Fox, ty dolla sign, DJ mustard, Mac Miller and the list keeps going.. This school not only teaches you how to perfect your makeup skills but also how to work on set, and the set etiquettes also. I've learned so much by going to this school. And even after I graduated a while back ago I'm still getting to go on set. And I got to meet new people and they have been calling me for my own gigs. So I have built my own brand and getting gigs on my own. I would love to thank Micheal Vincent Academy for what they have done for me. I wouldn't be where I am today if it weren't for them! For anyone wishing to complete a cosmetology program and obtain a license, this school is not it. You will not be able to work in a salon with the hair / makeup certificate. This school is great for getting on set / photo shoot experience or for anyone looking to take classes to obtain basic makeup knowledge. You are provided hookups to photo shoot collabs and fashion shows (for experience). You also get to use the studio whenever for free, that was one of the best perks! MAKEUP CLASS: Angelique was a great instructor that provided important knowledge for a variety of makeup looks and the business side of being a makeup artist. She was approachable and dedicated to teaching us how to be great makeup artists. HAIR CLASS: Terrrrrrible! This was due to the instructor Rebekah. The class had no structure, it was disorganized and we did not learn everything listed on the syllabus. The final photo shoot was disorganized and a joke, she was focused on getting her own pics instead of making sure the students got all 3 looks in lol So from my experience, do not take a hair class with her. read more

Parking: Free parking lot for students School: you ll see Mirror Doors, kind of very discret from the outside but once you get inside, WOAW! you ll see a huge studio for photoshoot. Truely was 1 of the "rare" great decision i have made in my life. I was a model for 20yrs and NEEDED to find something i like to do, I was bored and also too old for it now lol... Makeup was the best option for me to stay in the art and beauty environment. I met with Tal and Bam!, I enrolled. I had a great and cool teacher named Angelique, I also discovered that its hard to do makeup but also discovered that I loved it. I have met all the teachers, they all legit great makeup artists. The key is to go to class, but also to be constant n TRAIN til you cant lol. You ll meet Mo too he is the mellow one lol but be careful he is still seeing everything and he is the 1 deciding if you pass or not loool... but dont be scared he is still one of the coolest. Anyway, I PASSED!!! yesss gurl!! I am happy!! I am now a Certified Makeup Artist n it feels gd to say. O! I was lucky enough to model for a finals project put together by a lovely MUA studying here. The facility contained several classrooms and a few delightful studio spaces where we were able to capture our images after prep. I can personally attest to the cleanliness and organization of the venue, and was quite impressed with not only the various looks I was asked to model, but also sat in awe of other's looks. This leads me to believe excellent instruction is taking place at this school! Don't waste your time or money. I paid for the master of beauty artistry program ($15,000--which they ripped me off about $4,050, but more on that later.) I learned basically nothing from my makeup educator because she was more interested in checking her Instagram or gossiping on the phone with her friends. She didn't last there much longer after I finished the makeup artistry "class," and the educators that come afterwards do not last long either. You honestly could learn a lot more from YouTube tutorials for free. Their makeup kit is trash. It's basically dollar store quality and you probably get $50 worth of cheap makeup for a wonderful price of $1500!! Such a steal! Like seriously, your bank account is being robbed at this point it's ridiculous. The affiliate program is cool I guess, if you're into free labor and doing dirty work like wiping sweat off people or fetching things, and NOT doing actual makeup most of the time. Onto the $4,050 that basically just went down the sh*tter. A list of the things from the master of beauty artistry that I paid for and I did NOT receive: * $3,000.00 vanity (wtf??) * $450.00 director chair (also wtf???) * $600.00 business class I was never given these items, and I was never even notified of any upcoming business classes. I spoke with one of the administrators (she was also long gone within just a few months. Notice a trend, anybody? They can't even get it together enough to keep their own staff around. HA!) about using that credit on their soon-to-open makeup store that they claimed was going to carry brand name companies such as: Kylie cosmetics, Anastasia etc. To my knowledge, that didn't happen. I waited months for the store to open, and I eventually moved out of state. I called back one day to see the status of the store and Tal picks up--I give her the whole shpeal about my credit and you can hear in her tone of voice that she was NOT happy about it. I wasn't surprised. I asked for a refund of MY money that I RECEIVED ABSOLUTELY NOTHING FOR, and was denied. They did, however, offer to give me a makeup set that THEY compiled (of more no name brands) which was worth nothing near $4,050. Long story short, after going back and forth for a while they agreed I could come to their makeup store to pick out makeup items myself but honestly the low quality items offered aren't even worth the time or effort. It would've been $4,050 of wasted storage space. I can count all of the positives in one hand about MVA: 1. Jenn, the hair instructor was amazing. You can tell she was passionate about what she did and about teaching and really got involved. Bless her soul, I hope she left and found a place that is actually deserving of her. 2. Mo, because he was good at communicating throughout the entire process 3. Free parking lol Ah, c'est la vie. It's a lesson learned. Michael and Tal only care about your money and do not give 2 sh*ts about the education you receive. The least I could do is warn others about this poor excuse of a school. Also I can bet that most of the 5 star reviews are from students' first day of class because they bribe you with a free beauty blender lol AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!!! read more
