Marty at PCFixMe! answered my call, offered to fix later that same day, and when I drove up to CLE, he did troubleshooting and identified issues with motherboard. He corrected it, said it was common issue, and provided tips to prevent it (properly shutting down laptop). He also showed me how to remove back of motherboard and unplug/replug in battery, and provided me with small screwdrivers so I could do it myself if needed. Which I did when similar issues came up the next week. Twice. The solution worked temporarily, but... when my screen went black the following week, I called Marty to discuss. Since I was located an hour away, he kindly offered several options, one of which included helping me purchase a new laptop if motherboard was bad- worst case scenario. When I took the laptop to him, he did trouble shooting, laptop did not reboot, motherboard was bad and we proceeded to shop online for a replacement. He recommended a replacement, and he ordered it then and there. When it arrived a few days later at his shop, he called to tell me he noticed a scuff on the cover and also found that it did not have all he had expected in hardware, and apologized for his mistake. We discussed an alternative Lenovo laptop - also less expensive - and he purchased. When it arrived several days later, I picked it up. Marty was honest with me again and told me my old laptop eventually did reboot! I said I'd keep it as a backup, but I needed a reliable alternative for my new business. And I was back up and running within 4 business days. Marty at PCFixMe! is honest, prompt, professional, courteous and exceeds expectations! What a breath of fresh air.

I took a Pioneer VSX-5000 receiver in for repair because the push buttons that control the AM, FM,…read moreVCR, Turn Table were not working correctly. You had to push the buttons several times to get them to move from one mode to the other, (they were not sticky) they moved freely. When I picked up the receiver I was told they just needed a good cleaning and work fine. when I turned the receiver on, I notice there was no distinguishing pop of power to the unit when I turned it on, There has always been a distinguishing surge of power from the day my dad bought it. It turned on softly with no surge, it just light up. The sound was weak and the buttons kind of worked but I never got the chance to to find out completely because I had to leave in a hurry and just gave it a quick once over. When I returned to check it out, the unit would not turn on at all.

I took 2 items for repair, a Vintage Pioneer laserdisc and a Pioneer Amplifier…read more The first item had a bad power supply that was hit by a power surge. The owner had his people try and finally a worker by the name Simon was able to fix it. I was extremely happy with the results and took the Pioneer Amplifier that had a channel out to get it repaired and completely worked over. The Amp. was purchased by me in 1973 and was the top of the line. It was in mint condition as far a the panels and the wood case, as it sat in a stereo cabinet for 50 years. This is he way I brought the AMP. to Tops for repair. The Amp. was given back to me after I was charged almost a $100.00 and a worker by the name of Napoleon argued with me that the Amp. needed a jumper from the Pre Amp to the Amp output to get it to work. This is not the case as the Pioneer SA -9100 has a switch that jumpers these 2 together in the normal mode. There are 3 settings, Pre-Out, Amp, and Normal. I took the Amp. back and told Bob the owner that it was not working as it should without the jumpers on the back of the unit. I also told him that I was concerned about who was going to repair it, as his worker Napoleon had an attitude about being wrong and I DID NOT want anything happening to the unit. 3 weeks later I called and also stopped by and I was told that he was working on a $900.00 Amp. that someone had just dropped off that day. The Pioneer SA-9100 is sought after because of it's quality and sound and sells on sites like Ebay for $795.00 on up. I stopped by again and was told that it was repaired 3 days ago, but he never called me. The unit was given to him in a box and covered to protect it. He never showed me that it worked and covered the unit top and sides. I got it home and took a look at the case AND the case looked like it was either dropped or thrown, as the rear corners were broken off. This unit was in Immaculate condition as even Bob has commented on. The case sells for $235.00 if you can find one. He seems to not be able to control his employees as he states that he opens at 12:00 A.M and I have gotten there at 2:300 P.M. and they were just getting there, This happens over and over again as I had to stop by 4 times on different days to finally catch him there. He seemed worried about telling his worker, Napoleon about the switch not working. I even told him that I wanted someone else to work on it, due to his workers attitude. He told me he was down to 2 workers, as the others quit. It started out fine with the Laserdisc, but ended up with a Vintage Amplifier extremely damaged. He has not returned my phone calls!!!!!!!!
