I can't say enough good things about Dr. Simon and the entire staff at this office. Dr. Simon is gentle, thorough and genuinely looks out for the health of your teeth. If you're lucky enough to have Lisa do your cleaning, you're in for a treat. I've NEVER looked forward to a cleaning but now I do. She's gentle and puts you at ease. I used to like this dentist until they became out of network. Once I had an accident and went on social security disability they pushed me to replace my crowns not because there was anything wrong with them but because they now make them with new material and they would "look better". I've told them I only wanted to have procedures that are crucial as I'm on more of a fixed income now. As they have nickeled and dined me in the past too. Just receiving a new bill for what I was told was their extra charge (out of network) and a scan ;which I didn't ask for or want, but they insisted was covered! So I find a new in network dentist and then Roberta (office staff) texts me the following as seen in the texts "Hi Melody, I just received a request to forward your dental x-rays. We ask that the balance be taken care of and x-rays can then be forwarded. Thank you." To clarify I ask her if they will withhold my medical records, preventing my dental care, until I pay for something that I was told would be covered. In addition to this review I will be notifying the dental board of their scam practices. Please beware of this office unless you want to be nickel and dimed, pushed to have unnecessary procedures and then have your medical records withheld!!!! read more

Believe it or not, I have been going to this dentist's office my entire life. Granted, Dr. Simon has only been here since 2005 but prior to then, I was adopted by the dentist who had taken over for the late Sandy Rosen who was my family's longtime dentist and friend until he passed suddently at much too young of an age. The office itself is as comforting to me as Mom's tuna casserole or BBQ ribs (you wouldn't think of a dentist's office as being comforting, now would you!). It's been one of the few constants in an ever-changing life. The beautiful Spanish office building in the Malaga Cove Plaza is the same, the walk up the stairs is the same (there is an elevator too), the small and cozy sitting area is mostly the same (after a few minor remodels over the years), still complete with Highlights Magazines like the very ones I read as a kid. The equipment has certainly been upgraded over the years and Dr. Simon has the most cutting edge gear I've seen complete with instant digital xrays that pop up on a computer screen next to your comfortable recliner. Dr. Simon's staff have always been friendly and helpful, including the front office staff who always worked with my insurance so I wouldn't have to be bothered. The hygienists are always friendly, thorough and painless. Since '05, Dr. Simon has now seen me through various cleanings and a few fillings (darn sweet tooth), always has a smile on his face, a good joke to tell and a gentle, skilled hand that, even when drilling, inflicts no pain at all. And I'm a big wimp. It's great to still have a wonderful family dentist like Dr. Simon close to home in a very comfortable and familiar environment. I never once thought to change dentists through the years and I'm glad to recommend Dr. Simon to everyone I know, including my wife and 3-year old daughter, who are also happy patients. read more

I had an old crown replaced recently. Dr. Simon was quite conscientious about getting the fit of the crown perfect. It feels like the original tooth already, and the whole process was as painless as possible. The new crown is vastly better than the one he replaced. I've been going to Dr. Simon for quite a few years. He has consistently shown the same care for my comfort (I told him I hated dentists and he said he knew how I felt), and for the quality of his work. Costs are fair. The transition was very easy thanks to Danielle in the front office. I had my teeth cleaned which was great. I then had x-rays, photos and a complete examination by Dr. Simon. Look no further! Honestly, Dr Simon is the best. I have been seeing him now for about 2 years. I think he's a great dentist. He is kind and caring as well. He has called me at 7 pm after some procedures to see how I'm feeling. I have never had any pain after any of my procedures. Once, on a Saturday, I called him because a crown came off. He was up in mammoth for the weekend, but offered to come back down to PV that day to fix it. I told him Monday was fine. Who does that? His receptionist Danielle is the sweetest! She called my insurance to find out for me if I was covered and what portion I would have to pay out of pocket and explained it all to me. Cathy, the hygienist did a fantastic job cleaning my teeth. And Dr. Simon took his time explaining to me everything before he did it and showed me photos and X-rays so I was fully aware of what he was doing.
