Super friendly and surgery at mercy hospital went flawlessly as far as I know. I would recommend Dr. Oefelein. For the best care.

My wife was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer and Dr. Foulad was so kind when he explained it to us. He had tissues for my wife, gave her a moment to process everything, answered all of my many many questions and left us walking out feeling like things were going to be alright. They got her started on treatment shortly after the diagnosis. We went through a meeting with the RN Susanna Bell who's a life saver to say the least. She explained everything we could expect during chemo and how to try to make it as easy as possible. Dr. Patel was amazing as well. He went over everything with us and met regularly to keep us informed on how things were going. She got through chemo thanks to the wonderful staff and Dr. Foulad even came to my wife's surgery at Cedar Sinai as he has operating rights there so he was in the OR with her surgeon assisting and giving her peace of mind that her original doctor was there. While the journey isn't over yet, the worst of it is over and it's been bearable thanks to the wonderful people at CBCC.

The doctor comes in and I'm expecting an explanation of my biopsy and instead, he hands me a paper with the word carcinoma printed on it. No explanation, no compassion, nothing. I ask to speak to the office manager to explain and ask how these things are typically done. I was told the office manager was in a meeting and would call me when she was finished. It's been three days with no call back. Why am I not surprised?

After finding out my wife had cancer, we were certain we'd end up at CBCC in Bakersfield. However,…read moreour insurance directed my wife to Dr. Nguyen's office for treatment. Our interaction with Dr. Nguyen led us to believe that he genuinely cares about his patients. The office is much smaller than CBCC which allows for his staff to create a rapport with the patients. Karen and Jill at the reception desk helped with all of our paperwork for FMLA. Our nurses were incredibly nice. Tom dealt with us the most. He makes everyone feel at home there and he's funny...which you need when you're going through something so terrible. Sarah was also really nice and attentive. I wish I could provide some positive feedback on the other nurses but I don't know their names. During treatment my wife used cold caps to keep her hair. Dr. Nguyen was able to accommodate her by providing additional room allowing access the cooler without bothering other patients. The reason I write these reviews is so people who are currently going through what we have can get a third party's perspective before committing to a specific doctor or method of treatment. If you're reading this to determine if you're going to receive adequate medical care under the direction of Dr. Nguyen, rest assured that he and his staff will learn your name, become familiar with your case, and provide really good care during this unfortunate time in your life. Good luck on your journey and stay positive!

He never made me feel like I was being rushed or like my thoughts and pains didn't matter. When a doctor gives you his personal phone number when you are going through treatment and said call him if you have any serious side effects from treatment. I knew then he was the right doctor for me. Even though I never called him there was comfort in knowing I can. He continues to follow me and so far I have been cancer free since 2017. I have seen how other cancer centers work, when you call and don't get a call back right away or soon there after, that can be very stress full for a patient undergoing treatment for cancer. For example My dad was diagnosed with oral cancer in 2017 and was seen by a different oncologist in town. He got so sick and when we called their office it was hard to get the doctor or anyone to call you back. We thought he is not going to make it, he was declining fast. Then during a follow up visit, when a doctor makes a certain comment. We knew then it was time to switch doctors. We switched him to Dr. Nguyen and he came up with a plan. He even called after hours and on weekends if anything was abnormal. My dad is doing so good now. Grated we all know once you have gone through chemo and/or radiation, you have a new normal but life is good. We love all the staff, they are great. I just can't say enough about Dr. Nguyen, he is a great oncologist.
