I went to her for problems with depression, anxiety, and trying to figure out what else was wrong because there was clearly something else there causing so much misery, but she just kept trying to give me TMS treatments, which wasn't helpful at all or trying to say that it was just my thyroid and I should take thyroid medication. I was weirded out by that. What's funny is I just got some tests done with my regular doctor and my thyroid results came back normal. But the ABSOLUTE WORST worst part of my experience with her and why I stopped contact altogether is because of her response when I told her that my therapist had diagnosed me with borderline personality disorder. ms urban rolled her eyes, and looked at me like I was being ridiculous and acknowledged the fact that I had been with my boyfriend for four years. She said I couldn't have had borderline personality disorder because people with that diagnosis cannot have relationships, so my boyfriend must be an angel then. That was one of the most vile and disgusting things I've ever heard a psychiatrist or any doctor say to me. She should be stripped of all her licenses and kicked off of the psychiatry board. She does not need to be working with anyone with any mental health disorders if she's so cold, rude and perpetuates the stigma of BPD.

I had 2 treatments of TMS done, on 2 different types of machines. Overall it took about 4 months in total. And honestly- I needed it!! I came to TMS after a disastrous year and had to stop everything and do self care. I'm so glad I did! I am walking away having had downtime to work out various issues and plan and organize for my future. Feels good! Here is some information that might be helpful for others: 1. At first I thought it made sense to get the TMS treatment over with, early in the morning. But I became sleepy after treatment and ended up needing to nap in the middle of the day, which threw off my circadian rhythm. So, eventually I started having treatments later in the day and that meant I slept better at night. 2. Treatment consists of sitting in a comfy chair and putting on a cap. Then the TMS machine is lowered onto the head and the magnetic pulses start. The pulses are like having a wood pecker beating against one's skull in a specific area. Depending on what TMS machine is being used, I had either earplugs or a mouth guard, or both. The treatment rooms are set up so patients watch TV during their session. My sessions (protocol) were all under 20 minutes. I could almost always watch 2 Shaun the Sheep (Mossy Bottom) episodes each time. yay! 3. Check with the office for the various types of treatments/length/time to see what best fits your need. I understand in the future there may be a chance that patients can receive multiple treatments in one day, instead of coming back daily for a single treatment. 4. I brought some unsalted peanuts to feed the crows that live in the trees in front of the office building. Because the appts can be set up around a regular time, the crows knew to expect my car and were happy to see me. 5.There is a taco truck a block away. Grab a taco! 6. Across the street is the Burlingame Plaza Shopping Center- Starbucks, grocery store, etc. 7. And last but not least, if I was not comfortable telling people the truth I just said I had to go to "physical therapy" for a medical issue. Worked fine, no one ever asked what I was up to after that.

She wasn't pushy about medication or anything, which I appreciated. Lastly, I trusted her clinical judgment. Not only did she give helpful advice and information, she was able to coordinate with other health care providers as a care team. The only reason why I rated her a 4 was because she has fairly limited flexibility in scheduling.

When I reached back out to him after the program, he fired me as his patient because my needs might be exceeding the scope of his practice. Of course that's his prerogative, but I was left hanging without access to my medications and without an outpatient psychiatrist, out of the blue. If my PCP won't refill my meds, I might have to go back to the hospital just to have access to my medications while I wait for an appointment with a new outpatient provider.

At the first appointment, Dr. Hazel is 2.5 hours late seeing me from the scheduled appointment time. I understand that things can run behind but no acknowledgement, no apology. Front staff was super rude. I needed a document to excuse my jury duty but required me to ask the front desk over 3 times in-person, and call twice after to finally get the document. To my surprise, during my appointment with Dr. Hazel, guess who else is in the office but Dr. Bokarius. After I was told unequivocally that Dr. Hazel and Dr. Bokarius do not work the same days and the two in-person appointments could not be scheduled on the same day, that was a bold face lie. They do not care about their patients at all, do not respect their time, front desk/receptionists are either incompetent or evil, probably both. I know he's the only doctor to take worker's compensation but there is a good reason why you can see from the other reviews why people avoid his office. To be honest, I think the entire experience was so mentally taxing and draining at a point in my life where I already was struggling with so much, I would avoid at all costs. We drove from San Francisco to his San Mateo Office on the Saturday morning (11:45am), filled out paper work (5-10 minutes) and were ready to see the Doc. After his Assistant presented the case to Dr. Bokarius we were invited into his office for a consultation. After a thorough review and a few questions Dr.Bokarius honestly stated he can't help her, since she has an issue with her veins. Even-though she tried to convince him to treat her, he made it clear he is not the doctor to treat that condition and referred her to another specialist who has the expertise and knowledge in treating patients with these conditions. We've apologized and thanked Doctor for his time. After seeing this much honesty I decided to come back to see this doctor for the consultation of my own. I'll post another review to rate him on his professional skills. So far...
