My previous consultation recommended root scaling only two teeth, not my entire mouth. I was especially cautious because after a past single‑tooth scaling, the gum did not heal as expected and I ultimately lost that tooth. I encourage others to do thorough research and verify if they allow recording of the consultation.

I had a root canal and a crown done here at roughly 1/10 the price at a regular dentist. The work was perfect. If anything the dentists are far more careful here than the private practice dentists I've seen. The only real hassle is joining their program, as there's a waiting list. After screening and initial evaluation, they're very thorough and very clear in recommendations. The staffers including front desk check-in are invariably friendly and efficient. It takes a bit longer since the dental students get everything checked over by the instructors. My impression was that the dental students just starting do the less complex tasks and the ones about to graduate get the more complex tasks

I also paid the full patient portion quoted to me upfront, based on the treatment plan they provided. Despite doing my due diligence, paying what was required, I was repeatedly threatened with collections. I even went through the trouble of filing a formal appeal with Aetna, which was denied simply because of timing. This process has been stressful, time-consuming, and felt very misleading from start to finish. I've since resolved the balance just to avoid collections, but I will never return to this office and wouldn't recommend it to anyone who wants honest billing practices or respect as a patient.

This is a big "ask" because I am sensitive and have side effects with many meds. I saw my cardiologist and changed medication, went through that adjustment period, and returned to him with the name of the new medication which he approved. Because of this I went forward with a laser treatment to remove the gum overgrowth. I paid several thousand out of pocket on top of insurance. The overgrowth returned a year later and my dentist sent me back for a follow up. Dr. Malik's response upon re-examining me was "Well of course it came back you are on a medication that causes gum overgrowth." When I informed him that I had changed it and he approved the change, he was confused at first, looked through my chart, and told me my current medication causes the same thing. While I know gum overgrowth can return, had I known the new medication had a risk of causing the this as well I wouldn't have paid several thousand to do the laser treatment. And I wouldn't gone through the extra cardiologist visit or the adjustment period in changing heart meds. I've thought about small claims court because it just sucked.
