I've been going to this office over 10 years and today I received the nastiest treatment from a dentist. I ask to speak with him privately not to have service but so he could understand why I would be going to another dentist. He handle it by asking me "Why?" "I've already been advised of the situation and if you want to leave go ahead I told them to send you your file." At this point the professionalism and pure customer service no longer existed. The office staff is unprofessional and constantly changing so good luck to getting your information and professionalism. Dr. Friend has been my dentist for several years now. He has provided me with all of the standard services you expect from a dentist (restorations and crowns) in a very professional manner and with a friendly personality. In addition, I have a rare auto immune disease (MMP) that has caused several problems with my gums requiring Dr. Friend to perform a series of extensive surgical extractions. I have been pleased with all of Dr. Friend's clinical evaluations and his skill, the efficiency of his staff and the cleanliness of his office. read more

I have to been going to this place for years now. I was late for 10 minutes this morning due to rain and was told I had to reschedule my appointment. I'm actually writing a review for Dr Dana Zeig, who is also in this office; I can't say enough good things about her, she is extremely well-prepared, knows what she is doing, so patient and gentle! I've always been extremely sensitive to any work done in my mouth, and have always dreaded going to the dentist, but with Dr Zeig, I would literally fall sleep on the chair! I had 5 extractions done, and also top and bottom partial dentures, so it was long, tedious work, but her manner made it bearable. I will always go to her. read more

On my first scheduled visit to this office, I had to reschedule because they were 45min behind. I re scheduled for a first morning a few weeks later. They tried to have me fill out new patient paperwork yet again. When I sat down in the chair the hygienist took a lot of X-rays, then a Dr looked at my mouth for about 2 min. They then proceeded to tell me to schedule a separate teeth cleaning. This was quite irritating to me. NO ONE at the front desk ever bothered to communicate this to me. I've NEVER been to a dental office that did not do a teeth cleaning in the visit, which was my primary reason for going in the first place. They were very happy to get a full set of x-rays at ($200) and have the resident Dr look in my mouth for 2 min ($70). Overall this was a complete waste of my time, this office appears to me EXTREMELY DISORGANIZED and the staff has TERRIBLE COMMUNICATION SKILLS. I will not be returning, although I'm sure they won't even notice. read more

I have been a patient here for about 4 years. I have never been a big fan of Dr. Friend as his bedside manner comes off as arrogant and condescending but the work seems to be quality. I loved my hygienist but that certainly does not make up for their short comings. The reception staff could care less about the patients and really make you feel like they are doing you a favor for servicing you at all. Unfortunately I had a conflict with an appointment and needed to reschedule. I talked to the receptionist and got another appointment and waited another 3 months to be seen only to find out that they did not actually make the appointment and I would have to wait another 3 months to get an appointment. That would be close a year of waiting. When I brought this up to them they could have cared less. I just no longer worth the fight to get seen. read more

I had been seeing Dr. Friend for almost 6 years when I decided to return to my previous dentist with out of pocket fees. Friend was on my insurance network and the costs were reasonable. During my visits with Dr Friend, I had the normal x-rays and procedures along with a referral for a root canal. In July of 2018 I was preparing for hip replacement surgery and wanted a deep cleaning as prophylaxis to mitigate any blood stream infections. Cleaning went fine as well as hip replacement I returned in January 2019 for routine x-rays and cleaning as well as my yearly oral evaluation. Once the cleaning was completed, the hygienist called for doctor to perform an oral examination. My appointment was with Dr Friend, but his associate a Dr Reich came into the procedure room. The some total of her examination consisted of having me move my tongue up-down and side to side. She stated everything was perfect. This was said without the benefit of having reviewed my x-rays. On check out I was handed a bill for more than 3 times my usual charges. Upon questioning the receptionist as to the Reason for the difference in my bill she went to speak with the hygienist. Receptionist returned stating that because of my previous deep cleaning the hygienist had to perform a more detailed procedure. I was not informed ahead of time that this was the normal scenario. When I attempted to pay with Care Credit I was told there was a minimum of $250.00 charge per office protocol and the charge was cash check or credit card payable. I shrugged and paid. NOW, 2 weeks later I was in quite a bit of pain and went to my original dentist. X-rays taken and a definite area of abscess was present under my first molar bottom left jaw. Had this associate dentist bothered to read my x-rays, she would have detected the issue and we could proceed towards a remedy. I had to schedule an immediate root canal at out of pocket costs.the Endodontist was great and I have no pain post procedure. My point here is that Dr Friend is a quality dentist but his front office and associate dentists, specifically Ms. Reich leave much room for improvement. Their continued text messages and emails for my return to maintain my dental health are falling on deaf ears. read more

Went in for an implant at 40. Convinced me to get impacted wisdom tooth extracted with no oral surgeon in the office. He was unprepared for how tough an extraction it was ended up with a violent extraction fully awake no backup dentist or surgeon called and he created a hole or fistula to my sinus which required Ent surgery and out of work for weeks. Worse... He never apologized! 2 procedures in the same area... Not best practice. General dentist who "didn't see how twisted the root was" during procedure. Biggest nightmare. Never got that apology for fear of justified litigation. You never should've touched it. It was fine for 40 years. Still no apology? You did me so wrong. Yahoo arrogance. You don't want me to mention how the implant equip you did place I was told was not one of the best in industry. Cut costs make $$. You messed me up and you know it. Period. Was on abx months after urgent sinus surgery. Maxillary ethmoid and it was impacted. I hope you stopped. Stop. You had no idea what you got into once you started. I wanted you to stop but it was too late. Ripped so hard. But you got a few thousand to pay for kids bar mitzvah. Right, you never offered financial compensation bc that would admit wrongdoing and don't admit that. Took my $ and f'd me. Classy. read more

Dr. Friend performed bridge work for me back in 2007-08 on most of my upper teeth. I was planning on having my bottoms done but moved out of the area. All I can say is I couldn't be happier with the results some 8 years later. I have since gone to a dentist in the DC area where I now live for work on the bottoms and it has been nothing short of a nightmare. I spent $10,000 for garbage. The DC dentist is a good guy and I would not want to hurt his reputation with a bad review, but I now have to spend thousands just to repair the damage he has done to my mouth. I'm actually considering taking a few trips down to Florida for the sole purpose of having Dr. Friend do the work. That should say volumes of Dr. Friend's work. read more

I went in to check out horrible tooth pain that I had been experiencing. Im waiting for my insurance to go into effect on the 1st of october so i went in just to get an exam and hopefullty get some antibiotics to kill the infection while i wait to get the root canal i needed. Well apparently Dr. Friend was having a bad day or was in a hurry but his interns couldn't figure out where the pain was coming from, and since i didn't have enough money for 2 x-rays, and since i had also taken advil and tylonol since i was in a lot of pain it was hard to find the exact tooth. Well he decided he was going to stick a piece of wood in my mouth and have me bite down, each time i did he goes "Bite harder" and before he did it he said "Im going to hurt you" because apparently he couldn't find the pain and purposely made me bite on wood to find it. I told him i was waiting for my insurance, but he still insisted i come in for a root canal the very next day for 1500.00 out of pocket expenses, which obviously i dont have being 28 years old living paycheck to paycheck. So then i go home only to see my gums completely torn up, now they are all white and scabby from top to bottom from him having me bite on wood as hard as i could, and then proceeded to rush me out and talk to his woman interns like they were piles of crap. He is THE worst dentist i have ever been too and will never go back. He swindles old people and avoids hard work. He is in it only for the easy money and is not passionate in any way about working on peoples teeth. Do whatever you can to avoid this man, unless you have lots of money to shell out! read more

Searched for this doctors office on my insurance providers website and Dr. Friend came up as an "in-network" dentist on my plan. Further, I called and made an appointment with the office, gave all of my insurance information over the phone and was assured that they do accept my insurance plan. I get to the office at the time my appointment is scheduled for and was handed new patient ppwk, filled it out and handed it back to the front desk. Front desk says they claimed to have called me 2 times the day before and left a VM of which I did not get. She stated that their office is not "in-network" I stated that couldn't be possible because the office came up in my search for providers in my network. She basically continued to say when they called Humana that they stated the office was not "in-network" and basically just had ZERO interest in trying to help me clear up this obvious miscommunication. Aside from the complete disregard for trying to HELP me, the people that work at the front desk are rude and inconsiderate! I would never recommend this place to anyone. In fact STEER CLEAR! read more
