Let me start by saying run don't walk away from this practice. I'm 67 years old and I have never…read morebeen through an experience with a dentist like the one I had Saturday. I got to my appointment at 12:45, 15 minutes before my appointment. I was in a lot of pain and I had a very badly infected tooth by 1:30. I started to ask am I going tobe seen? Is there a problem? They said they were very busy because it was a Saturday by 215 an hour and 15 minutes later I got put in a chair. I got some x-rays. Some that were not necessary because I had one tooth that was the problem. I then get put in another room and the dentist said she will pull the tooth and then give me an antibiotic. At that point, the girl came in and started to upsell me on a bone graft . They wanted to do something with the tooth in case I wanted an implant one day. The cost of that that was going to be $1200. I told them please just pull the tooth and that's all. She said she'd check with the dentist I asked again when I'm going to be seen. The dentist came in and said that they were busy. She hadn't had lunch yet, which wasn't my problem. The billing girl then came in and said OK we're gonna pull the truth. She wants to put a collagen plug in the tooth. I'm 67 and unfortunately have had many teeth pulled. I've never needed a collagen plug for $350 and I asked her to just pull the tooth. I called my brother-in-law who had been a dentist and recently retired. I was crying at this point. He said that I don't need any of the things that they wanted to do. The bone graft can be done at the time of the implant and I definitely don't need a collagen plug. Just get the tooth pulled and leave. Don't leave there though until I get the tooth pulled. They had me at a real disadvantage because I was in so much pain and the tooth was so badly infected. Finally around 3:15, over three hours after I arrived she came in and said we're going to pull the tooth. She gave me several shots of Novocaine, she took no care on how she did it and it was painful, then without even letting the novocaine work, she pulled the tooth, which was excruciating!! In all my past experiences when you get novacaine, the Dentist would wait 10 to 15 minutes for the Novocaine to start to work, I almost think it was done purposely because she saw me as a problem. She finally pulled it and gave me a prescription for an antibiotic and ibuprofen. I said thank you and I walked out. So many things went wrong on so many levels. I would never ever recommend anyone go through this and go to this practice. There are too many dentists out there that care to go to a place like this. My brother in law also said in his 50 years of practicing dentistry, he never made a patient in that much pain sit for three hours before anything was done, he never let a patient sit that long that wasn't having an emergency! During all of this up selling and waiting and confronting them, they made me feel like I was the problem not their incompetent practice!! I have only written 3 or 4 reviews about anyone or anything, but this has to be told so other patients never go through what I did.

The appointment began in a small office, where I was asked what "bothered me today"? rather than being examined in a dental chair. I was only moved to the chair after I asked for a clinical evaluation. Dr. Cabanillas briefly reviewed the X-rays I brought and immediately recommended removing most of my teeth and placing full-arch prosthetics for a flat $100,000. No clinical examination, functional assessment, occlusal evaluation, or diagnostic work-up was performed before presenting this plan. When I asked for a diagnostic model to be made, something that is typically a part of prosthodontic planning, I was told, "I don't do models. You need to find another provider.?" I left with no detailed evaluation, no individualized treatment plan, and no explanation of alternative options. This was not the prosthodontic consultation I expected.

There seemed to be a constant turnover of dentists, which made it difficult to receive consistent care. My biggest concern came after one of the newer dentists worked on my front tooth. I had three fillings come out within approximately two weeks. After returning and still not having the issue successfully resolved, I requested a refund. My request was refused. I also specifically asked for the owner, Dr. John, to contact me so I could discuss what happened and hopefully resolve the situation directly. I never received a call back. After being a longtime patient, I found this extremely disappointing. In my experience, the practice now seems much more focused on promoting veneers, cosmetic procedures, and additional services than on the jbasic restorative dental care that originally kept me coming back. I would strongly encourage potential patients--especially anyone needing fillings or restorative dental work--to ask questions about who will actually be performing the treatment, their experience, and what the practice will do if the dental work fails shortly afterward. Told the dentist that I had a gum infection under the bridge that was resolving, and I only wanted temporary glue in case my gums needed further treatment. Dentist put in temporary glue, but put in so much it overflowed over my gums and tongue. It caused the bridge to not fit right, so he took the drill to reform the bridge. I left and called as soon as I got home, and arranged a return visit asap. Went back and they wanted to charge me $400 to fix what I already paid $200 for. Go here if you want to overpay for disappointing procedures.

The dentists and clinical staff were always pleasant, but the billing experience was incredibly frustrating. Over the course of more than a year, I repeatedly received statements for balances that I did not actually owe. I spent hours on the phone with my insurance company, and on multiple occasions my insurance representative had to contact the office directly to explain how the claim should be processed and how to interpret the Explanation of Benefits (EOB). Despite this, the billing problems continued. I even received bills for services that were over a year old, and most recently I received another statement for a balance that both my insurance company and my own records show has already been paid. Everyone makes mistakes, but when the same billing issues happen over and over, it becomes exhausting for patients. I finally chose to find another dentist--not because of the dental care, but because I no longer had confidence in the billing process. If you choose this practice, I strongly recommend keeping copies of your EOBs and payment records and reviewing every statement carefully.
