My fiancé and I spontaneously walked in here a few weeks ago feeling defeated after visiting several jewellery stores in West Edmonton Mall that same day to gauge what kind of wedding bands we would like to have. We were a bit turned off by pricing and lack of customer service from everywhere else in the mall. People aren't kind or personable and just there to make a sale (cough, a certain popular store that starts with a P, cough).
We were on our way out of the mall when we passed this store and I just wanted to jump in and look some more even though we were both not confident. Personally, at first - I was planning on getting my wedding band on etsy or a local shop, I tend to not like huge company-chain stores. Walked in, started looking and a lovely woman named Mounira approached us. She asked us questions, gave us the freedom to look at any ring we wanted to look at but the difference between her and many of the other jewellers we visited that day - she looked like she loved her job. I did not find her to rush us to look at anything or purchase anything. She was absolutely enjoying her time helping us look at rings. Her vibe was so welcome.
My fiancé and I were curious about her accent and she told us she was from South Africa. We love immigrant stories (my fiancé and my parents are immigrants). Just getting to know her on a slight personal level made this experience so sweet and memorable. I actually fell in love with a ring she picked - then she tested me and said I didn't have to buy it and we can try others, which I did.. but it worked - I was sold. I love my ring, and I never thought I would get the style that I did (I originally wanted a plain band, no stones) and ended up with a thin half eternity diamond band. It's so simple, I love it. But I will be honest and let you know that because she was so nice, sweet and genuine about helping us, I felt compelled to buy from her right then and there, which I did! She gave us both a warm hug when we were leaving. This was one of the best customer service experiences I've had, and I'm extremely sensitive to customer service as I've worked in customer service/retail for a long time.
They offer a lifetime warranty on the stones, so I felt confident on making that my forever ring. Since I got my ring, I was worried it was too big for my finger (the wedding is a year away and I plan on losing a ton of weight which means I could go down 2 sizes or more), so even though they offer free resizing, I didn't want to resize it too much and compromise the setting. So we came back a few days later and I let her know my worries and she special ordered me a size I can fit into the day of. read more
