For starters, the building is eye catching. It is a replica of a 1874 life saving station and it has an enchanting look to it. I think it is neat that the window screens are beautifully painted - how unique and whimsical. I also fully appreciate how nicely displayed all of the art is. I can tell the gallery owners put a lot of time in thought into how to display the pieces so that they honor the work of the artists. As far as art goes, there is a lot of it here in all sorts of mediums - pottery, jewelry, mixed media, oil on canvas, woodworking, prints, etc. The selection is huge and there are pieces in all price ranges. Despite a huge selection, the gallery owners know their inventory. They are easily able to show art to customers by either artist or subject. The ladies working were both very friendly and knowledgeable. Pea Island Art Gallery is worth a visit, even if it means a long drive!

This place is full of all kinds of beautiful arts, crafts, paintings, and jewelry by artists local to the North Carolina area. There are so many things here to choose from: wonderful paintings, photographs, jewelry, gardening tools, kitchen utensils and supplies, hardware items, tiles, mouse pads, pens, painted stone steps, door knobs, light fixtures, magnets, glasses and mugs and more! You are bound to find something here to take home with you. Also - a part of the proceeds goes to support the Pea Island National Wildife Refuge - - cool beans! You can tell they take great pride in their showing, everything is of high quality and great artistic presence. The owner is so helpful and extremely nice and courteous. We bought a few items that were very sensitive (to breakage) and she willingly bubble wrapped them securely in a box so that it would be protected during our air flight back home. I highly recommend stopping to visit this oasis, it was a rainy day w/ overcast on this visit but the art and decor was so uplifting - it really brightened our day!

Eric and Robert are so fun and friendly, very no-BS guys who tell it to you straight. They made the class super fun and we were always laughing. Given the time of year, there were only 3 of us in class so it was nearly 1-on-1 instruction. I learned so much! I came back the next day to pick up my mirror and was stunned at how beautiful it came out! Y'all got me into a new hobby! Thank you for such an awesome class!

I stumbled upon Absolutely Outer Banks a handful of years ago and I was impressed with the selection of locally made arts and crafts. Ever since, this is my go to spot for legitimate and tasteful Outer Banks souvenirs. In addition to locally made items they also have some vintage items and even some new items for sale. One item that this store specializes in is really cool resin windows that are unique and exude happiness. Absolutely Outer Banks has artwork in all mediums and in all price points. They have jewelry, wood signs, candles, prints, glass work, textiles, metal work, etc.  On my most recent visit I enjoyed looking at a vintage pin ball machine and eyeing up the beautiful array of Fiestaware. There is plenty of opportunity for ooohhhing and ahhhing.  The owner is super friendly so that adds to the overall great experience. Absolutely Outer Banks is centrally located in Kitty Hawk in the former spot of a bank.

Loved their yarn bowls, pottery, and jewelry selection. My friend also bought a $50 bag of self-selected discount yarn. We came for the yarn- they have two full rooms dedicated to it, with some nice name brands and quality fibers, some hand dyed locally, others from as far away as Australia. Broad variety of weights, fibers, and colors, almost had everything I was looking for. One thing I might suggest adding to the inventory is some beach-themed drop spindles and some roving (spinning fiber), grown and dyed in NC. We visited twice in the one week of our stay. The guy at the register is somewhat brusque but he's a hoot. The woman in charge of the yarn room was very sweet and helpful. There are two big well behaved shop dogs, but I recommend leaving your own pets at home, they are probably not allowed. All in all, we had a great time shopping and will be back next year- maybe with some of our projects made from the yarns we bought.
