Kids had a blast painting ceramics.

Spent a wonderful afternoon at Studio 12. The staff was friendly and caring towards our needs. Pros: Fun rainy day activity. Can just walk in... Don't need a reservation. Walking distance from Avon Pier. Everything is included in the price. Kept our 5 kids (ages 7-9) entertained for 2+ hours. Great gift shop! Cons: Prices are kinda high. Range $5 - $60. Expect to spend a few hours there. Takes two days for them to bake the ceramic (I.e. You paint on Wednesday and need to pick it back up when done on Friday) You can leave with your mosaic and grout it after waiting 24 hours for the glue to dry. Only gave 4 stars due to the high price. Total cost for our visit was $260 (there was 7 of us). Yes, the kids could have picked small pieces to paint but it is hard to say no when the $5 items are the size of a quarter and next to it is a shark head for $45.... You end up settling in a $27 turtle shaped box.

The piece I painted!!! Love how it came out

Just left this hidden spot in Avon. Me and my fiancé had a great time. We just came in to paint some pottery. I picked out a fish and he picked out a coffee mug. The staff was wonderful. Since it was our first time it really helped having them there to answer all our questions. We even got to paint one item free since we redeemed a special offer on Yelp! Loved it. Must see if in the area on vacation or looking for something to do.

My favorite shop on Hatteras Island! They definitely got…read moremost of my "souvenir " money in the way of yarn and jewelry. Also bought some crochet hooks and an embroidery kit as a gift. Loved their yarn bowls, pottery, and jewelry selection. My friend also bought a $50 bag of self-selected discount yarn. We came for the yarn- they have two full rooms dedicated to it, with some nice name brands and quality fibers, some hand dyed locally, others from as far away as Australia. Broad variety of weights, fibers, and colors, almost had everything I was looking for. One thing I might suggest adding to the inventory is some beach-themed drop spindles and some roving (spinning fiber), grown and dyed in NC. We visited twice in the one week of our stay. The guy at the register is somewhat brusque but he's a hoot. The woman in charge of the yarn room was very sweet and helpful. There are two big well behaved shop dogs, but I recommend leaving your own pets at home, they are probably not allowed. All in all, we had a great time shopping and will be back next year- maybe with some of our projects made from the yarns we bought.

While in Hatteras I laid eyes on this awesome tree wrapped in knit & crochet and said "I've GOT to…read morestop here!!!" So glad I did. Of course I bought yarn to add to my stash, but I also got a pair of drift wood knitting needles I can't wait to use! This place had local art pieces, gift items, and some really pretty yarn! I really enjoyed my visit here and look forward to returning next time I visit Hatteras.
