Words cannot explain how much I enjoyed this place! It's the perfect place for artists like myself to relax after feeling beached out! The atmosphere is calming and welcoming, the employees incredibly kind and helpful, the selection of available pottery to paint is SO vast. The cafe in the next room has an incredible selection of teas, coffees, pastries, you name it. There's truly something for everyone here even if someone isn't artsy. Would not recommend. Our family of 4 did the make a mug project there and the owner coordinated the class. We were excited for this to be part of our vacation plans. Unfortunately, the owner did not teach at a pace for all of us to follow with as you would generally expect when taking a private class. She was not personable and did not have the details that we had coordinated in advance of the class. She was rather negatively opinionated about marijuana which we didn't even bring up yet she capitalizes on by selling such products representing it in her shop. The options are limited compared to other pottery studios that our family has done similar projects at previously. Waited a month for the tracking number for our mugs after emailing and calling with no follow up. After a month of waiting, she got nasty when I said I would soon be reaching out to my credit card company if a tracking number was not provided. Yes the mugs did show up looking as if they were dropped on the floor prior to being fired with shattered glazing. 100% would never do this again here. The first excuse for the delay was that they were too slow to get the mugs fired quickly, the second excuse was that they were too busy to keep up. If you are going to mess up, at least get your story consistent. Honesty is the best policy folks! Owner repeatedly rudely texted me after posting this to advise of additional false shipping information so I am attaching it to show the proof from usps. Seems as though she is trying to use intimidation tactics to keep her reviews at an inaccurate rating. She is quite unprofessional and unkind. read more

There are a variety of activities to do (ceramic painting and glass art). We had so much fun making sun catchers. Just left this hidden spot in Avon. Me and my fiancé had a great time. We just came in to paint some pottery. I picked out a fish and he picked out a coffee mug. The staff was wonderful. Since it was our first time it really helped having them there to answer all our questions. We even got to paint one item free since we redeemed a special offer on Yelp! Loved it. I loved this place last year and was looking forward to painting again. I checked their website and it says they're open and doing take home kits. We went to go get our supplies and there was a tiny tiny note on the door saying they are closed for the rest of the year. I'm not upset they're closed; I know COVID has made things difficult but the website should have been updated. There aren't many places to choose from for pottery painting here and driving for 30 minutes to discover the website was incorrect is very frustrating. read more

Spent a wonderful afternoon at Studio 12. The staff was friendly and caring towards our needs. Pros: Fun rainy day activity. Can just walk in... Don't need a reservation. Walking distance from Avon Pier. Everything is included in the price. Kept our 5 kids (ages 7-9) entertained for 2+ hours. Great gift shop! Cons: Prices are kinda high. Range $5 - $60. Expect to spend a few hours there. Takes two days for them to bake the ceramic (I.e. You paint on Wednesday and need to pick it back up when done on Friday) You can leave with your mosaic and grout it after waiting 24 hours for the glue to dry. Only gave 4 stars due to the high price. Total cost for our visit was $260 (there was 7 of us). Yes, the kids could have picked small pieces to paint but it is hard to say no when the $5 items are the size of a quarter and next to it is a shark head for $45.... You end up settling in a $27 turtle shaped box. read more

This is our 3 year coming here. It keeps getting better. We have a 3 and 2 year old, and they were well taken care of. Carolyn made sure that the boys had something to paint, or to do while they waited for us. Every year we make a tile for each boy and then a big pot or plate for the grandparents. So there were times that my wife and I were preparing something or finishing something for the boys. During these times, Carolyn was awesome at entertaining the boys and giving then little toys to play with. The shop is divided into 2 halves, one side for the pottery painting, and the other side for the art, jewelry and other beautiful items. There is a wide array of pottery items to paint, from train and car banks to platters to tea sets. There are many different displays to get ideas from; you can even combined items, like sea shells on a plate. Hand prints and foot prints are wonderful memories to have, and anyone can do this. The pottery is fired quickly and can be shipped if you paint on the last day of vacation. I highly recommend this for a hot day, a rainy day, or any day. read more

It was raining and we needed something to do with the four kids we brought on vacation and we could t have picked a better spot. We were greeted promptly as we walked through the door, we didn't need to go find someone for help. They assisted the kids through color suggestions and how to apply the glaze. We've been coming here for about 7 years during our annual Hatteras vacation. Painting pottery is great fun and a real treat to have a personal souvenir! The price is very reasonable-and even cheaper than the places back home that offer the pottery painting. This is a great "take a break from the sun" activity! This is a cute little shop. Great for kids and adults alike. You can do pottery, or mosaics, or glass work. We started coming here a few years ago when we needed something to do on a rainy day. The only drawback is you have to go by wednesday of your trip so you can pick your pottery up before you leave. Either that or they can mail it. But still, it's a cute shop with great owners and great atmosphere. It's very relaxing. The owner even does her own jewelry, which is kinda cool. read more

Had a fun time here. The child made mosaics, and I enjoyed doing something a little different at the beach. It's pricey though. Two mosaics ran about $60. Note that you can take a mosaic project with you right away. If you want to paint pottery, do it in the first part of your vacation so that there's time for it to be fired and ready for you to take with you. They have beautiful handmade jewelry at various price points. Many--maybe all?--are made by local artists. I wish they'd make it easier to the see the prices though. Artists made jewelry from copper, old soda cans and sea glass. Nice mix of items and quite creative. About two doors down, there's a coffee shop so you can go there before or after whatever art project you work on at the studio. They offer classes, but it didn't work with our interest or schedule to take one. Maybe next time! read more
