I barely had any vacant space in my luggage, but I absolutely had to grab some good deals and exit quickly lol. The store is huge and the various sections are easy to browse. It was also easy to spot employees walking around if you needed to ask for help.

Inside I found some of the coolest t-shirts I had seen in Dublin. They look like home-made vintage band tees with the likes of the Doors, The Clash and Lou Reed on them. Right up my alley. Why do I continue going? Well, because it's the closest to me and the price is reasonable. But I've finally decided to stop going there and have started making a much longer trek to Aldi on Parnell St. I generally think Dunnes stores is reasonably priced, well laid out and well stocked. The staff are fairly consistently ignorant. It's an impressive feat that this seems to run through the entire company, from managers to checkout staff, in every county of Ireland that I've been in one. For weekly groceries, this doesn't bother me, I'm just there to get my product and get out. However, for my daily lunch, I just can't take it any more. Main complaints for the North Earl St Dunnes: 1. Staff on the Deli don't know what the price of the sandwiches are. I've been ordering the same meat-free sandwich for probably 1 year, and the price seems to be completely dependent on who is serving me. When I point this out, I usually get into a brief argument before someone more senior explains to the confused staff member that "eggs aren't meat". 2. The checkout staff are the stupidest, most unfriendly, ignorant bunch of twats I've ever met (apart from one or 2). They don't look at you, continue chatting to the staff member next to them refuse to accept slightly old looking notes. And (this seems to apply to all Dunnes Stores), they ask you to sign the customer copy of the receipt when getting cash-back!! Why do they do that? It's normally the other way around, if at all. Why do I need signed proof that I received the money? I've never seen it anywhere but Dunnes, and it boggles my mind. But maybe I'm missing something. 3. The queues are ridiculous at peak times and I've seen staff just hanging around at these times, when they should be on the checkout, or better still, replaced by self-service checkouts that aren't stupid, unfriendly, are more efficient and don't go on strikes from their jobs that need not exist in the first place. Finally, the bread is always slightly hard and the ATM works only 50% of the time.

I was watching recently were they dressed the celeb up as an old woman and made her go into a luggage shop and make the poor person who worked there demonstrate how the bag worked and how to roll it back and forth, etc. You get the gist. That's exactly what I think of everytime I walk past this shop. It's got all kinds of bags for all kinds of occassions and travels. They've got suitcase, backpacks, rucksacks, duffle bags, etc. They've even got a bag there that you could quite possibly fit a whole person into!

Owner Juliana stocks a range of semi-formal wear for women and children, plus jeans, boots and a few snazzy accessories like giant shades and chunky jewellery that definitely aren't for the faint of heart. The stock is cheaper than say, the formal gear in Debenham's or Arnotts, but for experimental Debs wear or a flashy frock right for a turn on "Dancing With The Stars", Genesis Fashions is worth a browse.

Considering the brand is relatively…read moreanodyne - awash with plain, inoffensive knee-length dresses, black tank tops and trenchcoats, I am always flabagasted to see it in and amongst what I would deem much more idioysyncrtaic labels such as St. Martins, Fever, Orion and Numph on clothes racks within these expensive boutique shops such as Bow and The Loft inside Powerscourt Townhouse. To me, it beggars belief how such an insipid brand can be considered anywhere as near characteristic as St. Martins for example which oozes distinctiveness and a creative edge unseen anywhere else. The Vero Moda shop therefore, that which accommodates all of their trade name under one roof has never made an impact on me. On the very few occasions I have been inside I have left incredibly soon after for a very straightforward reason - I was bored by what I saw. All I see are an unwarranted amount of black tops and lackluster short dresses. I am not usually uncompromising when it comes to the colour black nor simplistic clothing - I'm not a snob for sophistication or anything like that, if anything I admire the way something as one-dimensional as black and tank-tops (for example, when relating the issue to a style of clothing) remain relevant, timeless even, despite their aesthetic humdrumness people still always want them, yet I still find their mass appearance here as something that is mind-numbing and ultimately uninspiring. It would be different if Vero Moda shaped or 'cut' (in the fashionista sense of the word) the simplistic clothes in a particularly stylistic way creating a really well turned-out, razor-sharp looking little black dress or cool aerodynamic-looking unadorned cocktail dress but they produce nothing of the sort.

I'm not a fan of either its basics or its fancier ranges and although I regularly check out what's on offer, it always seems to be much the same sort of stuff - jumpers with too much lycra, proto-Next suits and garish going-out tops. In mitigation, it does have nice dressing rooms with curtains that pull over all the way, and its shoes can sometimes be okay.

The shop sells a lot of stuff that would be good for work. Basic blouses, trousers and suiting, etc. They also have tall and petite sizes available, which I think is a major pointer. This shop is owned by the same company as Topshop and Miss Selfridge but I don't think Dorothy Perkins is necessarily a progression from those two stores. As a Topshop girl gets older, she might need to get some stuff here for a big-girl job, but she's not going to covet anything. I will say that they do have some surprisingly hot shoes. Perhaps this is where the Topshop girl can keep her identity, hmm?
