This is the second time I visited him since two different general dentists (one five years ago and the other now). The first was because of a broken tooth but Dr. Sanchez recommended extraction rather than root canal, which I had done by another dentist when I got back to Florida. This second time was because my FL dentist wanted me to see an endodontist due due to extreme pain when eating something cold- love that Tillamook Ice Cream! Having had such a good first experience with Dr. Sanchez, I waited until I returned to LI to see Dr. Sanchez. He examined my x-rays and the tooth that my dentist had capped 6 weeks ago and also the adjoining teeth. He doubted that the capped one needed a root canal and after testing the adjoining teeth determined with reasonable certainty that one of them was the culprit due to a suspected hairline fracture and receding gumline which creates the opportunity for sensitivity. So this is the second time I was sent to him for possible root canal and the second time he advised against it. His opinion the first time turned out to be the correct course and I have no doubt that this one will be the same. I cannot recommend him enough for his friendliness, completely understandable diagnosis and plan for further wait and see. I have no doubt because of my experience with him and the other reviews that if I end up needing RC, he is the man! But the way the pain is diminishing I think he is correct and that the sensitivity will diminish over time. Do not hesitate to see him and his clean, modern office with all the latest hi tech equipment. He will only do the root canal if he is certain it is needed.

She explained what likely happened, along with an explanation of what the process would be, and treatment overall. The retreat treatment went extremely well and hoping the rest of my week has as minimal pain as possible (not anyone's fault except having work done)! The dentist was great (Walter Rostkowski) he came out to meet me before I ever went into a room and talked to me about any concerns or issues, he made me feel relaxed and comfortable before ever getting in a chair. The hygienist, whose name I forget was fantastic, I never felt rushed or that she was just going through the motions, completely the opposite. She took her time to find out about my issues took x rays and a scan and the did a great job on my cleaning being very carful with the teeth I am having issues with. It feels crazy to say but it was almost a pleasant experience! She did a thorough job and w able to identify the problems with the two teeth I was having, one where a filling had fallen out and another with a chip on it. Dr Walter came in and looked, agreeing with everything and they were able to schedule me for next week to get it all fixed. If you are looking for a dentist, I highly recommend this practice, I am looking forward to my next appointment.

Out of pocket costs are zero for two cleanings, x-rays, exams, diagnostic evaluations and sealants, and they are reasonable for major work. Nicole the hygienist carefully and throughly cleans my teeth and take my X-rays. She makes sure that she reviews my chart before she sees me. She also educates me on how to properly clean my teeth. She has been my hygienist for a year and one half. I am impressed because the another dentist office where I was a patient a high turnover of hygienists. Dr. Macari competently and professionally examines my teeth. He also has an excellent memory. Today he remembered when I came in several months ago on an emergency appointment for symptoms of teeth sensitivity. He recalled determining that the charcoal toothpaste that I was using was causing my teeth to hurt when in coming into contact with cold liquids. He also has been my dentist for a year and one half. Both Nicole and Dr. Macari emphasize the importance of frequent flossing and twice-yearly checkups. I usually have no tartar on my teeth, so I have never needed any major dental work. The negative thing is that the office no longer automatically gives out a complimentary package of toothpaste, toothbrush and floss. Patients must ask for them due to COVID-19 guidelines. All patients must wear masks in the waiting room. Wait times are usually no more than five minutes. I highly recommend Sachem Dental. They are so professional.

I had an appointment in mid-2000 that had to rescheduled because of COVID-19. No problem. When I was able to have an appointment, it was the end of October 2020 and we schedule an appointment for Tuesday March 23, 2021. Here is the annoying part - I received four confirmations through email and text messages staring a week ago. I called the office last week to confirm because I travel during the week. Today I receive a call that they have to reschedule because the hygienist will be out and next available is the end of July! This is unacceptable. The receptionist said to me, "It is because we only have one hygienist." This is not my issue. I hope the owner or manager reads this because other patients will. You over-confirm and then cancel!
