The metal speculum hurts insanely for people not used to things inside them. At my previous OBGYN, she used a lidocaine gel to help with sensitivity on the cervix. They only had a spray which is effective for less time and they didn't want to use it when my IUD was removed, only for the re-insertion. I think the staff was nice and caring, but it's honestly disappoint that lidocaine gel isn't the standard and all we're supposed to take is pain relievers for having a rod shoved up our cervix!

Everything from start to finish went fine, and I was very happy with the level of service I received from this facility. In the week leading up to my surgery, I received several calls from both Englewood ENT and the Surgery Center to ensure everything was set for my procedure - from paperwork to schedule changes and beyond. I prefer more information than less, so I was happy to receive even a quick phone call or text to update me on even the slightest change. The hardest part about this center is the location - it's really tucked in to a bizarre neighborhood in Fort Lee. However, the location sent me a direct pin to the front door which really helped. (When looking it up on Google Maps, the ETA was slightly different. The listed location on Google Maps is not as accurate at the pin they provide, so use the location that the text message sends out.) I was also grateful for the message about the parking they sent beforehand - the place is undergoing construction and they gave us a head's up about how it may be different to find parking. Obviously, for a surgical procedure, one can expect to be there early to make sure everything runs smoothly. I arrived 90 minutes before my scheduled time (7:30am). The gentleman at the front desk was kind and informative. You basically submit everything before you go, so you only need to sign some paperwork before you go in. The waiting room is also very chill and comfortable, with a TV screen that gives you up-to-date patient information so your guest can know what's going on. Upon entering pre-opt, every person was lovely, kind, and informative. Shout out to Elmer who took my pre-opt notes while I was getting ready! I am a talker (especially when I'm nervous) and the nurses were very happy to engage in conversation with me. While I was finished and waiting to wake up from anesthesia, the Center and doctor called my dad to let them know how I was doing. Upon waking, AJ took care of me - she's awesome! I was out and ready by 11am. I really could not have asked for a better experience!

I discovered I needed to allow lots of time for traffic, especially in the morning. They called me pre-op to get all the necessary information and answered all my questions about my transportation. I was having local anesthesia, so I was able to drive myself home. When I arrived I was greeted and made comfortable in the waiting room. It is very clean! Pre op nurse Elmer did everything correct. Thank you to Josephine, RN who visited me in pre-op. It truly helps when you are a little nervous to have kind and considerate people speaking to you! They informed me of exactly what would happen. Or Nurses Cristina and Karen and Dr. Ekstein spoke with me pre op and during procedure so I knew exactly what was going on. Everything went according to plan. My recovery room nurse Lorraine gave me written and verbal instruction, offered nourishment and assistance, answered all my questions and saw me safely out of the building. I was very impressed with the center, the staff, the kindness and professionalism. I am a nurse and it's pretty hard to please us! A+ in every way.

DR. FOCAZIO SAVED MY LIFE!!!…read more No exaggeration here, I was hospitalized and diagnosed with low platelets late January 2025 at mountainside. Although I was complaining about my stomach they never bothered to do appropriate testing and gave me the boot with a dangerous, near infusion level platelet count (20k range) and slapped an idiopathic diagnosis on It. I rolled along for months filtering through one other gastro and decided to switch to Dr. Focazio. Within a week of thorough testing and analysis he found that I was carrying a rare and extremely deadly novel bacteria inside me that I likely got on a work trip back in November 2024. It was then treated promptly. After feeling a bit better with the bacteria being eliminated I have been experiencing after effects that I thought would never go away but I stuck close to Dr. Focazio and am finally starting to heal. Both myself and my entire family, who have been grateful, could not recommend a better doctor. Dr. Focazio specializes in Gastroenterology but is multi disciplinary which includes his expertise in infectious disease. He has helped me through such a miserable portion of my life where so many other doctors have failed. If you want a doctor to sit down be patient and listen to you with both knowledge of cold hard medicine and also cutting edge knowledge of natural treatments this is YOUR DOC. The staff has been friendly and helpful. I can call them whenever and they hear me out and get back to me. They let me know exactly what the doctor says to do if I have a weird test and are relaxed when there's nothing to be worried about. Both the doctors in my family and other doctors I've seen have commended Dr. Focazios choice of treatment and consideration of my symptoms. I always said if you want a good doc go to one that's not only a doc but also a surgeon. Not only are they schooled but they also have the healing mechanics built into their hands. If you want your life back make an appointment with Dr. Focazio today.

I'm usually able to come up with at least five things I would have changed about any experience, and I genuinely cannot think of one. I also have to give a special thank you to the ultrasound technicians at Hudson Regional/Hoboken University Medical Center. From our very first visit, they were absolutely amazing. They were warm, kind, and incredibly caring, and somehow always made us feel like we were part of a family rather than just another appointment. We are so grateful to Dr. Principe, Nicole, the ultrasound team, and everyone who cared for us throughout this journey.
