Are you looking for a dentists' office with terrible communication skills? Koch and Crossley is the…read moreoffice for you if you'd like to be frustrated and embarrassed every time you show up at their office for a scheduled appointment. Here's a taste of what could happen to you, should you choose to let them be responsible for your dental care. I've had multiple fillings done at their office, with at least two of them resulting in re-dos because of the poor work done the first time around. I was even contacted after one of my cleaning appointments after they reviewed x-rays to come back and get another one repaired at no charge. Flash forward to beginning of January, I show up for my daughter's cleaning appointment and present them my new insurance card. My employer had switched providers for the new year and the informed me that they did not accept my new provider. That was fine. I had them cancel any of my family's standing appointments so that we could find a new provider that would accept our insurance in the area. However, they kept my appointment to fix that single filling they did incorrectly at no charge. I confirmed my appointment when the reminder came through and didn't hear anything else from them. I come to the office for my appointment and no details were confirmed at the check-in window, I was never called up. So I get back to the exam room with my tech and I ask her to please make sure that everything is okay with my filling being done at no charge still, because that was the original agreement and since they don't take my insurance anymore, I didn't want any surprises after they were already done working on me. I saw her review my chart where it said the filling was to be done at no charge on at least two different entries, but then she said that since it had been over a year they would no longer be able to do it at no charge. She consulted with the doctor and he confirmed. My question was why I hadn't been contacted previously and notified of this change to an already agreed upon price/procedure and they didn't really have an answer. My time taken off work isn't valuable to them and apparently, as a patient here, you are supposed to be familiar with all their internal rules and policies. Needless to say, I left and didn't get the filling replaced due to their inability to communicate their internal policies. Everyone I spoke to just had an excuse but no reason as to why this wasn't communicated to me even a month ago when they confirmed they were keeping the appointment. If I had known there was going to be a charge, or a statute of limitations on when they would honor their word, I wouldn't have bothered keeping the appointment or going in and wasting my time.

The whole staff is always courteous and professional, they explain the process before starting the procedure. Both initial and follow on appointments have been no problem scheduling. Dennis H.

I originally switched to this dentistry because they accepted my insurance (unlike the dentist near my house). I figured it would save me money to go somewhere in-network. What raised a red flag for me was that as soon as I switched, I was suddenly told I needed a crown and had a cavity--despite being told everything looked great just six months earlier at my previous dentist. I'm not a dentist, so I trusted their x-rays and advice, and went ahead with the work. Here's the problem: my mouth felt perfectly fine before the procedures. Afterward, I experienced pain and sensitivity that lasted an entire year. I couldn't eat on one side of my mouth--hot, cold, spicy, it didn't matter. When I brought this up at my 6-month checkup, I was told it was "normal" to have sensitivity after that type of work. But after a full year with no relief, they attempted to file down the tooth. The assistant even mentioned I might eventually need a root canal (which they outsource). Sure enough, I woke up one day in extreme pain and had to go back to my old dentist. They were able to get me in immediately, did the root canal in-house, and since then I've been pain-free. I won't be back to Lake Joy Dental. I'm not claiming they push unnecessary treatments, but in my experience, the work I received here caused more harm than good. Even with insurance, the out-of-pocket cost was high, and I would rather pay more with my old dentist for excellent work than save a little and deal with long-term discomfort.

In my personal experience, I would never return to Dental Care of Bonaire (Dr. Phoeby Lewis). My…read morerecent visits left me extremely dissatisfied with both the quality of care and what I perceived as a serious lack of professionalism from Dr. Lewis and her staff. I had an appointment scheduled two months in advance that was canceled without my consent, and I received no courtesy call beforehand. On another visit, despite having a scheduled appointment, I was kept waiting nearly two hours to finish because Dr. Lewis had clearly overbooked patients. When I questioned the delay, she offered an excuse that did nothing to resolve the situation and only highlighted the disregard for my time. As a result, I chose to seek dental care elsewhere. Both the front desk staff and dental hygienist repeatedly demonstrated a disregard for basic professionalism and patient care. Their interactions with me were consistently dismissive and marked by rude, unhelpful attitudes, which reinforced my view of the office as an unwelcoming and poorly managed environment. It was also very clear that the staff didn't want to be there at all, and frankly, they would have been better off staying home. After deciding to permanently discontinue my care, I requested that my records be sent to another office. Shortly afterward, I received a letter stating they were withdrawing me from their services, even though I had already ended my care there and was receiving quality dental treatment elsewhere. I am now a client at Warner Robins Family Dentistry, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Dr. Nency Patel is exceptional, and her team is equally outstanding, professional, welcoming, and truly dedicated to patient care. If you value your time, comfort, and dignity, I strongly urge you to go anywhere else for dental care. In my experience, Dental Care of Bonaire (Dr. Phoeby Lewis) ranks at the very bottom of any list of dental providers I would ever consider. If it were possible, I would give Dr. Phoeby Lewis ZERO stars. Based on my personal experience, I would avoid her office at all costs.
