We were very disappointed with Michael Brooks movers. They broke and damaged a few items and immediately tried to say the items were already damaged. They also didn't complete set up as asked and paid for and charged my elderly parents the higher rate for paying by credit card when I told them I would go to my own house and return with my checkbook to pay to save my parents money. I live 15 minutes away round trip. During my short absence, the movers pressured my parents to pay with the credit card. Sadly, we even bought all the crew lunch to save them time and money. We feel betrayed and angry. We will never use them and hope others avoid our fate. read more

Michael Brooks Moving moved us earlier this week and the experience was phenomenal. I called for a quote a few weeks prior to the move and spoke directly with Michael - he was professional and polite and gave me a very reasonable quote. Almost immediately afterwards, Michael followed up with an email to confirm the date of the move and time the crew would be arriving. The day of the move, Michael called me an hour before our scheduled time to reconfirm and let me know that the crew was on their way. Jim, Jimmy, and Paul arrived right on time and were friendly, professional, and fast! Door to door, the move took less than five hours and we ended up owing slightly less than the original quote. Tried to receive a quote for a move and it did not go so well. Confirmed time and date before the visit and since I did not answer the call the owner made prior to the visit he never showed? We confirmed the day and time a couple times and I told him someone would be home. If I needed to change anything I would have called. So I called back after my wife asked where they were, and asked why he never showed. Miscommunication apparently, but I asked if he could make it out still and received a well I'm back at the office now. Thats it. I would have expected a lets see if we can schedule another day and time or something, but instead nothing. Disorganized and lack of customer service. Hope they improve this part of the business because its the core of a successful business. read more

The owner jerked us around for over a week. He wanted to pack our belongings up & store them over night ( it would have cost twice as much) then drive our things to our new home the following day ... I wonder what he was thinking with that one.We need our furniture to sleep on if nothing else. Then when my husband told him "no.. we want it all done on the same day" just the furniture washer dryer & fridge .. we'll move the boxes . Now Mr Brooks wants to see the job.. that seemed like an odd request so my husband asked him why.. it's like 10 rooms of furniture ( including the porch table & chairs) He would have made a good chunk of change. It's not like we were trying to stiff him on anything. But after that Mr brooks couldn't find the time to do our move. Micheal Brooks state : "Communication between customer and myself was delayed do to customers lack of response in returned calls and email " "Your husband called and asked for availability for the 9th or 10th of Aug. At the time we had a opening for the 9th and a part opening for the 10th." My husband called & told you our closing was on the 9th & we needed a mover for the 10th . I was sitting RIGHT there during the entire conversation & heard the whole thing and we simple asked why you needed to see the job.." We've lived in this same house over 27 years .. It's not like we hire moving companies every other day. My husband did state he had a table saw.. NOT SEVERAL large wood working machines He talks about communication but then has a melt down when you ask him a simple question. Refuses to answer & basically tells you to go away. We called him back & emailed him back EVERY TIME ( within HOURS if not minutes) he asked for information & he certainly wasn't too busy when he initially agreed to do the move a few weeks back. And a date was set for the 10th of Aug.( he wanted to make it the 9th & 10th.) I am not frustrated in the least Mr Brooks.. in fact my feelings are of pure excitement ( perhaps you are projecting ) Mr Brooks has rewrote his response several times now after I've called him out on specific events. So I would really warn you to be cautious he's not being honest As a post note I might like to add that the next time you speak with a senior, disabled couple who may not be aware of all the ins & outs of your small personal business that you actually take the time to communicate to them DIRECTLY why you might need to view a job instead of posting it on a review days later when you are feeling disgruntled towards them because they had the audacity to share their experience After all as you stated .. communication is important . Overall a neutral experience. The guys were fast, worked hard, nice, and everything you'd expect. One problem is they were a bit careless. Two pieces of furniture were damaged a several boxes were just dropped. Nothing was mentioned when the head guy saw me looking at the damage and scratches. Luckily the damage is in a place where it's not worth going through any sort of claim. Cheapest quote we got and a fair price just be warned, they are a bit careless with your belongings. Michael- appreciate your response but at this time I'm not looking for further action. We've had plenty of friends move that decided to go in another direction based on our experience. Horrible service by the owner michael brooks, very rude and disrespectful to the customers. They think they are the only cost effective movers in town. Bait & Switch Pricing After researching a few companies, I received a verbal quote from the owner and decided to proceed with his company as it was the least expensive. That's where I went wrong: verbal only. I needed a small truck ( under 1000 sq ft home) for an out of state move and two men and was quoted a certain price, which configured tolls, time (we both mapped on Google for distance and time to verify during quoting process), gas, etc. He confirmed the time of arrival, two addresses the night before and I assumed, wrongly, we were good. Any suggestion that he did not know distance, or relative time, in advance would be absolutely ridiculous. The next morning, a huge truck showed up (probably could have fit 2-3 of my home) and THREE movers. I immediately told a mover that there had to be a mistake on the truck/movers so he called the owner and I was told the extra mover will just make the move quicker and possibly reduce the cost. Once we were at the new home and unpacked, a mover called the owner and gave me the price and it was OVER $500 more. When Mike followed up, I was not thrilled about the increased cost and pointed out I did not ask for that size truck or three movers to which he said, "Well, I couldn't just send him back." (Yet it still increased the cost quoted) When I pressed him on how could he have called and confirmed everything with detail the night before but not the truck size or movers, he got defensive and said he had everything written down that way, which contradicted what I had in my notes at the time of the phone call reservation. He also was very annoyed I wrote a check saying "I don't take out of state checks" which: A) He didn't mention previously B) When I asked about payment during the reservation, he said they would have a credit card reader on the truck (they did not, hence, the check) and C) I was still a NH resident and the check said as such. He suggested I should have written my credit card info with one of the movers (complete strangers!) and they would have brought it back to be processed. Um...no. The whole idea of not taking payment in advance leaves room for these situations to occur. He also made zero attempt to rectify situation either. Very disorganized (maybe he needs an assistant!) and I would suggest to anyone, get everything in writing or really, use someone else for a non local move. I'm not a local resident and feel my review is pretty trustworthy--many of his ratings are locals. My only star is for the movers who worked efficiently and were professional--and I tipped accordingly. read more

The owner is an honest man and runs a tight ship.

We did a couple of moves with Michael Brooks moving within a few months, with two out of the three movers working on both moves. I worked with Michael on the pricing and schedule and both were as promised. No hidden fees on the quote and the movers were 15 minutes early on each move. During the move, the movers were courteous and professional. They also helped walk us through the process since we had little experience with moving. A really good experience overall. read more

Exceptional. Prompt response to call, quick and convenient scheduling, very reasonable cost, arrived on time, moved quickly and carefully at both sites, polite and professional. I can't think of one thing they might've done better. Will use them again and very highly recommend. read more

I have since been contacted by the owner & wish to amend my review from 6/6/16. I have been informed that credit cards are not processed on site & should be called in prior to the move. If there was miscommunication on either side regarding this practice, the employees SHOULD have informed me of this on the day of the move, or they should have called the owner to determine an appropriate method of collecting payment. I also advise anyone hiring anyone to do anything should request a written estimate and/or contract that details written information on business practices, methods of payment, etc. My agreement with this vendor was verbal only, but an estimate with mileage and travel times would have been clear & avoided debate, as would have a running log of arrival & completion times. It is in the consumer's best interest to insist on professionalism, even if it is not offered. My review was intended to be a fair & truthful assessment for other consumers based on my experience with this vendor; there was no libelous intent, & the review did contain some positive remarks. However, because the owner has since attempted to intimidate me through email to remove my review & still insists I am not being truthful, I wish to post his full reply to me here: * Michael B. Owner I request that you take your review down from this site. You have painted a very untrue statements to slander my company. If you do not take down further actions will be taken against you. We are a well established bussiness with thousands of positive reviews. A*** or N*** did not say they dont get paid enough for this**** The men where on time You where given the benifit of the doubt and given a 1/2 hour off the bill for your troubles. You did not set up the move. Your "husband " did and he was explained the method of payment. We DO NOT process CC's on site and he was told to call it in prior to the move. read more

Found them through Yelp and they helped with a local move. We have moved 4 times in the last 6 years, two of them cross country so I would say we are quite experienced. These guys were fast, efficient, experienced, and reasonably priced. Mike is the owner and supervises every move and he uses his own guys (not day laborers). We have a lot of stuff and big heavy furniture and they had no trouble moving everything up and downstairs. The only thing that was a surprise was that they don't use any carpet padding. You have to purchase yourself and they will lay it down for you. This was the first company that didn't do that for us. We have gone through some horrible companies who deliberately underprice your estimate to get your business and then screw you in the end. These guys estimated the move to be 8 hours (got done in under 6 hrs), and came in nearly $800 under. Thanks for making the move so pleasant! read more
