I was new to the area, went because I had a cracked molar, I paid $800 to have a crown but then was tortured. The temporary crown fit fine but for some reason the lab they use to create the real one couldn't get it right. I had to keep coming back and going through the painful process of getting my temp crown off and them exposing what was left of my tooth to something painful they put on it in order to make a mold and do another 3D scan of the tooth. They called me to come back in 3 times because the permanent crown wasn't fitting at all! By the 4th visit and the crown still didn't fit right the dentist was like we are going to make this fit he was gruff and rough. I ended up with a horrible red purple bruise in my mouth where I was painfully injected with Novocain. He ground down one of my teeth above the crown also while grinding down the crown. Needless to say it never fit right, has caused me nothing but pain and discomfort. Couldn't chew well on that side of my mouth and now about 3 years later it freaking fell off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I highly do not recommend going here. I have dental ptsd now and I have to find a new dentist to fix my painful missing crown tooth! read more

Of the two times I had to see her, when Dr. Calliham was unavailable, I regret each time. I felt she didn't review my chart before seeing me and brushed off my concerns. read more

What can I say about a dentist practice that is pretty close to perfect? I am bedbound 24/7 so it is extremely difficult to get anywhere. Everything seems to conspire against going to any appointments. Dr. Calliham's office worked available times around so that my cleaning and needed dental work was scheduled for the same day - AND made sure my appointments were before my insurance plan year started over! When Dr. Calliham worked on my teeth (I have to stay in my wheelchair), I truly felt no pain. At all. Not when he numbed my mouth, as he worked, or after the numbness was gone. And not today - the day after. Plus, such an improvement on my teeth! His expertise is unparalleled, in my opinion. He absolutely cares about the comfort and health of his patients. The staff there is so friendly and welcoming. I feel as though they are family. When I was leaving, the lift on my special transportation bus was not working. I sat outside on the bus lift in the direct sun and 106° heat for nearly 40 minutes as the bus driver tried to get help. Finally, a member of Dr. Calliham's staff came outside to find out what was wrong and rescued me, telling me to come out of the heat. I have Multiple Sclerosis and heat is very detrimental. Dr. Calliham's staff saw my predicament, and after realizing how long I had been stuck out there, acted for my safety. I have been going to them for about 30 years and they have seen my health decline. Did they say I would have to go somewhere else when I ended up in my bulky wheelchair? No. They made accommodations and made it work. They are angels. Rosie, Kim, Jessica...EVERYONE there. They care about ME. They will care about YOU, too. read more

My son needed his front tooth filled with resin. He called around and found this place. The receptionist called our insurance and let him know they will accept the insurance payment as full payment so he chose to go there. Insurance paid and here we are with a bill of 170 extra dollars for simple dental work. Called back and they claim they never agreed to accept the insurance payment in full and that they can charge whatever they want and people just have to pay it or face the consequences. Unbelievable! Stay away from this place if you don't want to get ripped off! On top if this they did awful dental work. My son now has a bicolored tooth that they sealed onto his adjoining tooth. Stay away! Too bad Yelp doesn't let me leave zero stars! read more

Never EVER take you or your family to this place. The receptionist is very rude and short if you have questions. The dental associate Pentecost was very uncertain with her treatment saying "I'm not sure, let's see if this will work...this is not working like it should...this isn't heating properly" And continuing to use the instrument. The dental assistant was coaching her on things that looked to need attention by saying "Did you want to take care of this or is it ok?" Very scary experience. I came to resolve screaming tooth pain, got two fillings done, when the numbing shots wore off, tooth still screaming, had to endure the pain all night and all day at work, screaming pain. I called another dentist to get it fixed. I even paid for more xrays out of my pocket instead of obtaining Callihams xrays because I wasn't sure of the competency of the xrays because they kept saying they didn't see anything. One hygienist was awesome, but another one gave me the most painful teeth cleaning I've ever had. Felt like she was really working out some anger issues. My bigger complaint was with scheduling and billing. Instead of 2 annual cleanings, I was *accidentally* scheduled for 3 cleanings in a year (two years in a row). I ended up having to pay for a cleaning and xray out of pocket, despite the fact that I had insurance (and clearly didn't need multiple xrays in a year). When I went in to discuss the issue, I was told that it was my responsibility to speak up if I didn't want xrays. Somehow, it was also my fault that they scheduled me for three visits in one year. When the receptionist canceled my future appointments, it turned out that I had been scheduled for three annual checkups again. I filed a complaint with the BBB, and Michael B Calliham, Jr. DDS Family Dentistry refused to even respond to the BBB. read more

I went here in 2012 when I moved to town and was first looking for a dentist. They told me I had 12 cavities and I was shocked! It had been about 1 to 1.5 years since I had been to a dentist but I though that still sounded crazy. I let them fill one of the cavities and got printouts of the treatment plans for the other 11. The estimated cost totaled several hundred dollars so I decided to get a second opinion. I went to Hooks Family Dentistry and it turns out I had zero cavities! What a crook. Also, they had done a bad job on the filling they did and I had to get it redone, and eventually needed a root canal within two years of them working on it. Stay far away! read more
