Wow! A-plus is not a good enough score. I was really lucky because I happened to find Dr. Piccione just by chance. I could not get an appointment before two weeks at my current dental office after a crown had come out. The office didn't consider it an emergency and told me just to make sure to keep it clean and rinse it with salt water. I didn't think that was good enough. Needless to say, even though I did manage to recover my crown and not swallow it on Saturday, I called immediately to get an appointment to get it re-cemented and was told that I could not get in until September 22. This was two weeks away from the date that I called. I really did consider this an emergency because there's a myriad of things that could happen by having it left there exposed like that and having to eat on one side for that long gets pretty uncomfortable and it could possibly cause more damage. It has been getting worse and worse just trying to get an appointment because my dental office seems to have trouble staffing the office. This was not something I wanted to go through for two weeks waiting to get my crown re-cemented. It was a stroke of good luck to find Dr. Piccione. What a wonderful experience. I now have a new dentist because I don't think I could ever return to what I have been experiencing with my previous dental office. What a difference a phone call made. I am so happy now to have my crown re-cemented. I got in the next morning because Dr. Piccione wanted to help me. I feel like I don't have to worry about anything now with it getting infected or eating on one side and all the rest of the unpleasantness that goes along with a crown coming out. Normally I would probably ask for recommendations for a new dentist because the dentist I was going to is actually the fourth dentist I went to that was on this plan. All of the other ones were, suffice it to say, way below the standard of care. So what a difference a phone call made and a visit to this wonderful office. I was referred to Dr. Piccione by Dr. Zatto upon his retirement. I have stage four prostate cancer and as a result have weak bones due to chemotherapy. This has caused my teeth to become very brittle. I have had two teeth removed and three others break off at the gum line. I went to Dr. Piccone after my last tooth broke to see what he could do. He repaired it but to my surprise it only lasted 30 minutes. At that point, I called his office and left a message with his receptionist requesting he return my call. I did not hear back from him and a week later received a bill for $350. I paid this even though the crown did not last and never heard back from him. I sent a note along with my check again requesting that he give me a call back. That was a month and a half ago and I still have not heard from him. It leaves me wondering what is going on with him or his office staff. What would you do, my tooth still remains broken in half? read more

Update: Dr. Piccione continues to impress me with his cosmetic/restorative dental skills and dedication to his patients. I wanted to have him design an implant crown to replace a shoddy-looking one made by someone else. It was going to be a challenge but I had faith Dr. Piccione could solve the problem. He had me try out a couple of temporary crowns to find the best coverage of the metal abutment and we chose one. Then the pandemic hit. As soon as the office was allowed to reopen they scheduled an appointment for me and Dr. Piccione had my new permanent crown ready to go. It's amazing to me how it looks and feels like a real tooth. See the before and after pics. Previous review: I started up a violin studio and wanted to look more professional. Because Dr. Piccione is also a cosmetic dentist I knew he could make that happen. While getting my orthodontic treatment Dr. P. and I met a few times and went over some options. I liked the idea of veneers. There were so many different choices for tooth shapes and shades. Dr. P. helped me narrow down what I wanted and made some additional recommendations. He let me think about some things and we came up with a plan. Near the end of my orthodontic treatment Dr. P. coordinated with my ortho regarding the timing of the veneers and scanning for my final retainers. The veneers process took some time to be completed. We did 2 sets of temporary ones. Dr. P. made sure they were the way I wanted them to look. The entire process was actually quite pleasant. His assistant Rose was wonderful. They both made sure I was comfortable and knew what to expect during the long appointments. We had lots of discussions about the upcoming baseball season (go Cards!). When the veneers were in I couldn't believe how perfect they looked. My orthodontist's office was also impressed. Now when I'm teaching or meeting with new or prospective families to my studio I smile a whole lot more. I'm so glad Dr. Budak brought Dr. Piccione on to take over his practice. I was referred to this office due to Dr. Budak's excellent services, extensive experience, and reputation. Dr. Piccione, who took over for Dr. Budak, was the dentist I saw. Everyone in the office was very friendly and nice. Dr. Piccione was very enthusiastic and warm. However, he met with with me for multiple consultations without recommending a treatment plan. I understand his desire to be thorough and focusing on cosmetic dentistry, but given that I had to leave work on at least 3 occasions for a "consultation," well that was a big concern for me. I truly appreciated his enthusiasm but at the end of the day, I was hoping to get my teeth fixed. Unfortunately, in the process of multiple evaluations, I developed a tooth infection. Because Dr. Piccione was out , I was referred to someone his own staff did not appear to trust, which did result in further complications, which I have never had before after a root canal. Dr. Piccione truly appeared overwhelmed by the challenges my case presented, which is fair. I honestly just wish that he would have referred me to my current dentist sooner. As to finances, I had no issues paying my current dentist out of pocket because I received treatment. With Dr. Piccione, I had multiple consultation, multiple bills, and 0 relief. read more

The best place for regular dental care I found so far in the Bay Area! My hygienist is Sara. She is very friendly and takes time to sit with me and go through even the most difficult areas. I went to see him once when I was thinking of changing dentists. He was recommended to me by my orthodontist. I did not like him at all. He's all smiles, but then he has such a commercial attitude about everything...You can see through him, that all he cares about is taking your money and he starts recommending this and this to you, like you need everything and nothing is right with your teeth. I just hate that kind of an attitude. He is also very expensive and you can barely talk...he talks and talks and talks and makes you feel like you guys are having a dialogue, but it's actually a monologue. I have been a long time patient (over 10 years) with Dr Budak and I totally agree with Madalina C's comment below. He tries very hard to squeeze every penny from your pocket. He would recommend procedure that is more than necessary. I had root canal done on my molar tooth 20 years ago by another dentist, it was very successful and the tooth never bother me. 10 years ago when I first saw Dr Budak he recommended to redo the root canal and I followed his advice (I was stupid). The second root canal weakened my tooth and my tooth broke a year after the second root canal. Then Dr Budak recommended tooth implant which would cost me $5,500. I didn't want to let him make more money from me so I delayed the tooth implant procedure for many years and until recently, I went to a dentist in San Francisco and got a bargain deal, tooth implant for only $2,400. It is time for me to move on to another dentist. This time I will find someone that cares for the patient more than the patient's wallet. read more

I am a technical person and Dr. Budak's office is one of the most technical offices I have ever visited. If you need a crown he can do it all in one visit with a product called Cerec. If you want you can even go watch as your porcelain crown is cut out by the water jet milling machine. He is very friendly and professional and has a wonderful staff to back him up. He is the best dentist I have ever had. I used to have a cracked front tooth and he did such a wonderful job on it, I forgot that it used to be cracked. Thanks to Dr Budak and all his patience (believe me I needed a lot of work) and expertise, I have great oral health once again. So go see Dr Budak, I highly recommend him.
