Close to the field and the players!
    Patrice R.

My son and I made the drive from Palm Beach County twice this preseason to watch the Dolphins train at Nova Southeastern University. Our tickets were free through the Dolphins' Training Camp web site. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in spite of the heat in South Florida in August. We had no problems parking (which is free, in a garage) either during arrival or leaving. The canopy over the seating and misting fans help keep the heat to a tolerable level. It's neat to sit so close to the action on the field. Today a scrimmage was already in progress when we arrived. The first time we watched, we saw players divided into 4 groups running through drills in different sections of the field, followed by a short scrimmage. Players sign autographs for a few minutes at the end of the practices, which surprised me. Didn't buy any food or drinks because who needs cheese fries at 8:30 in the morning? Concessions are cash only. There is a section where children can go to have items autographed and a Dolphins merchandise shop. Will be back next preseason!

In the last 20 years, the Miami Dolphins have made the playoffs only three times: 2001, 2008, and…read more2016, all as wild-card qualifiers. These appearances, few and far between, have been a far cry from the franchise's heyday in the 1970s and 1980s under legendary head coach Don Shula. Shula led the Dolphins to all five of their Super Bowl appearances to date. Those appearances included two victories: Super Bowl VII in 1972 and Super Bowl VIII in 1973. In 1972, the Dolphins went a perfect 17-0. To this day, the '72 Dolphins are the only team in NFL history to go undefeated. Shula coached the Dolphins from 1970 to 1995 (26 seasons). The Dolphins were originally an American Football League (AFL) team. The AFL merged with the NFL in 1970 and became the American Football Conference (AFC). As a member of the NFL, the Dolphins' first coach was Shula. It didn't take long for him to start winning. Miami made the playoffs in each of Shula's first five seasons, advancing to the Super Bowl three times and winning twice. Shula holds the NFL record for most wins as a head coach with 328 wins. To give modern-day NFL fans a sense for where Shula stands all-time, at the time of writing this review, Bill Belichick is in 3rd place with 287 wins and Andy Reid is in 6th place with 235. Source: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/coaches/. Since Shula's last season with the Dolphins in 1995, the team has had 11 different head coaches in 25 seasons. Notable head coaches over that time include Jimmy Johnson (1996-1999), Dave Wannstedt (2000-2004), and Nick Saban (2005-2006). A few of the Dolphins' greatest players include Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterbacks Bob Griese (1967-1980) and Dan Marino (1983-1999) and fullback Larry Csonka (1968-1974). Griese and Csonka were teammates and won back-to-back Super Bowls together. Griese was the NFL MVP in 1971 (the season before the team's first league championship) and Csonka was MVP of Super Bowl VIII (1973). Csonka leads the Dolphins all-time in rushing yards (6,737) and rushing touchdowns (53). Marino was NFL MVP in 1984. Both Griese and Marino played their entire professional careers for the Dolphins. Marino played under Shula for the first 13 of his 17 seasons. One of the most popular NFL players of his era, Marino played in only one Super Bowl (Super Bowl XIX in 1985) and is still the winningest quarterback to never win a Super Bowl. Another Dolphin great, defensive end Jason Taylor (1997-2007, 2009, 2011), was a six-time Pro Bowler and the NFL's all-time leader in touchdowns (9) among defensive linemen. He finished runner-up to Olympic champion figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi in Dancing with the Stars season 6 in 2008. I thought the DWTS Finals that season were unfair considering Yamaguchi's professional career gave her an edge over Taylor. Then again, it could be argued that Taylor's profession as an athlete gave him an edge against other contestants that season like Penn Jillette, Steve Guttenberg, and Adam Carolla. Haha.

Getting off to a great start this 2023 season at 3 - 0 in preseason and after beating a strong Buffalo Bill's team fans are very optimistic. Games are exciting to attend as teams has become a mater of presentation by adding pregame venue and many activities at stadium prior to game. Over all an awesome entertainment experience for local fans and many tourist that go to games during their vacations. Highly recommend live game!
