The price to quality to portion size ratio is perfect. Best pizza in town! There are plenty of options to customize with and the food seems to be made with a lot of care. read more

If you're on the University of Illinois campus and are looking for good stone oven style pizza, this is the place. They have two sizes (personal/ large) and you can customize the pizza anyway you want. Once you walk in you'll see "build your own" menus. Customize, then bring it to the counter. They will call your name when it's ready. Highly recommend...enjoy! read more

Came here for some dessert to go. There are various of cheesecake to choose from. I ordered a S'mores cheesecake. It tasted good at the first few bites, while gradually becoming greasy until I couldn't finish all the cake. The service was great and fast though. I've also heard it has some good pizza and pasta with decent prices. Probably will come here again for a quick lunch someday. read more

Mia Za's holds a very sentimental place in my heart because it is the reausturant i went to the day i moved in. It has NEVER disappointed. Everything i get, let that be a sandwich or pizza or pasta or cake it is ALWAYS buss. I would recommend the pizzas (especially the ones pictured) bc those are probs my fav thing I've gotten so far. I love the location too, it is so convenient and has a lot of seating (upstairs). It is a wonderful place to get dinner or lunch with friends or family. Also i love filling out the paper to order it is so fun especially when I get to use the crayon thing. read more

Really enjoyed the create-your-own sheets, it makes ordering a lot less stressful. The food smells so good and tastes wonderful, it's warm and well portioned. The employees are nice and very willing to answer questions about your order. The music they play too is different, they're not like other restaurants that just play mainstream music on repeat, they have variety. It's a cozy little place to get a bite and I'd say it's fair pricing for the quality of food! read more

An okay place for fast cooked Italian food but keep realistic expectations and it will seem a lot better than it actually is. It actually kind of sucks. Mia Za's is a counter order pasta and pizza place popular with students who don't know anything about Italian cooking and that fancy sort of thing. Choose among the premade choices or build your own item. The prices are okay but the portions are pathetic and toppings are sparse. It basically is one of those fill out the paper of toppings you want and turn it in at the counter establishments. Seems kind of amateurish but oh well fuck it. The customers are filling out their papers and getting in the way. On to the waiting game. Service here is pretty slow. Just put out some food already. Long wait. I ordered a pasta for carryout. It's $5.99 for the regular size. This comes with your choice of toppings. Be aware they automatically put cheese on everything. You have to select to leave it off. Fucked up the first order and had to do it again. More waiting. Finally it came. The bowl was already small and it was hardly filled, and the toppings were pretty sparse and not much was added on. Forget getting something from here. It's just next to Shawarma Joint. There's even an entrance in the wall so you won't have to go outside. read more

Two stars mainly for cleanliness of this restaurant. Have been there for three times and in two of them I found some kitchen leftover or trash in my plate. Only took the photo for the most recent one. This was super disappointing!!! Besides the food tasted bland; some of the vegetables were even burnt burnt. I will never go there again. read more

Usually I get a salad but I've gotten pizza here before. Both are pretty good. The price is relatively reasonable for the amount. However that's only the case for their large size. Their regular or smaller size is cheaper but the food is not enough. Their regular salad feels more like a side salad and their pizza is only a couple bites. Overall great food but just don't get the smaller size. read more

Yum! Mia Za's never fails to serve up a good pie :) Perfectly cooked and stays warm long enough to enjoy it fresh at home! The cashier in pink who took my order was super friendly and the staff were very efficient :) This was my first time trying a smoothie which I can't recommend more! Straw-nana for the win! Delicious & unique pizza. Hubs & I both said "no pizza" but the place was hopping on a Tuesday night with college students. How could we pass?!?! It's a must try!! read more

Flies were lining the walls and ceiling, I was swatting them away as I was sitting waiting for my food. This is a major health code violation as flies transmit pathogens to the food that customers are then consuming and staff members are working around. There were no visible fly traps or pest control, just flies around the staff actively making the food- it was so disgusting. Even more disgusting was the managers rude, dismissive attitude towards this health and safety risk.. She says "the flies are fine". The staff is basically all college kids who could care less about your safety in regards to the food they are serving. I would avoid this place until you can't see flies on the walls. read more

Literally the best food and the staff are the coolest people I have ever met in my life.

Food was solid. Service was notably poor. Cashier was incredibly rude and condescending when asked about picking up online orders.

If you're in the Champaign area and you're looking for a delicious pasta or pizza meal, I highly recommend this location! The staff is friendly and the food is amazing! You have the option to choose from their specialty menu or create your own pizza, pasta, or salad. The garlic bread is also a highlight for this restaurant! read more

My goodness are there prices so good! And nope.. I did not mistakenly write prices instead of pizzas because their prices really are that good. So are there pizzas. I am so surprised that for less than ten dollars, I can have a more than filling meal. Their regular size pizzas (big individual size) is a little over $5 and a large pizza is a little over $7. My favorite is the margharitta pizza, but you can also customize your pizza exactly the way you want it with different sauces, toppings, etc. I haven't had a chance to dine in because of the pandemic, but I will definitely update this review regarding my dining in experience when I actually do in the future. For now, I'm just happy that I can have a good pizza at a reasonable cost for a student! read more

pasta was agregious. Got the vodka Italiano and it tasted like dick n balls. Pizzas are gas but never getting the pasta again.

I am very happy with the service and I would rank their desserts accordingly: (1) Tiramisu: Perfect. (2) Carrot Cake: somehow it's good even with veggies. that's an accomplishment for something impossible and that's why it is number 2. (3) NY Cheesecake: Umm, it's cheesecake. (4) Lemoncello: I never played the cello, but after eating this, I felt like I had. Next, (5) Chocolate Cupcake. : For something that looks store-bought, it tasted like homemade goodness (6) Chocolate Mousse: I like the chocolate mousse (7) Oreo Mousse: Too much Desserts waiting to be ranked: Brownie: Presentation: not the best. That's all. Matcha Cake: Gone. But not forgotten. Regular Cheesecake: Yes. read more

Delicious pizza! Most worth around campus. Couldn't finish a large ($11) after a 18 hr fast. 10/10 staff and service

the pizza and pasta are really good and the workers are so nice!! very well kept and cozy feeling.

I really liked our visit here! You order by writing down what you want, which is fun and unique. The food tasted great and we got free breadsticks with a special butter the owner made and was trying out. It was really delicious! He stopped by to talk to us about the butter and his work history. I enjoyed the free breadsticks and the pizza that I ordered. My sister got a pizza and also enjoyed it and my mom tried some pasta and said it was very delicious too. We definitely would stop by again. read more

best pizza on campus! quick service and super customizable. great portions for the affordable price.

OMG! I thought this place had closed. So glad to see the Urbana one is still open. Little pricey for a quick lunch. $29 for two of us, but it looks amazing! We got a few things to share : 2 large entrees, one being a pizza & one a pasta. We both got a small salad & garlic bread each. Smells so good in here. read more

Things I felt upon visiting Za's for the first time: - overwhelmed at the number of options for lunch (pizza, pasta, paninis, and salads comprise your choices that you'll fill out on a custom form) - impressed that there are 200 meals you can put together at less than 500 cals! - comfortable in the spacious upstairs dining area - healthy after eating my 1/2 salad-1/2 panini lunch combo - elated I found somewhere that includes edamame in some of their salads Unique lunch spot! read more

After my original review, where my food was made incorrectly and I was not given the opportunity to have it remade or refunded, the owner reached out to me and helped to rectify the situation. Update: since I was last here, they've added two huge tv screens in the entrance area, opened up the food prep area so you can see your food being made, and changed their order forms a little. Things that happened when I was there on this particular occasion: the "power mix" greens included the very bottom of a romaine head (the part you don't wanna eat), most of the seating was closed to people eating alone, and my food came out quick with smiles and accuracy. read more

Restaurant review I am glad that I am back by Za's after moving back to Champaign. This was my favorite place to eat at on campus when I was a medical student. Now that I am back I have found out that there are multiple locations which works out well. The prices are actually cheaper than when I was here for college due to a modification in the menu. For the pasta you get to select from multiple types and sauces with 4 toppings for 5 dollars. The premium protein items i.e shrimp, meatballs, chicken will run you a dollar more each. The food is prepared quickly, however I don't know if they changed it now to use a convection oven/microwave to nuke your toppings which is one down side. This is then added to a pan with the sauce and served quickly. You also get a nice piece of garlic bread. All and all this is better than McD and for the same price. There are also other options such as pizza, salads, sandwiches etc. I have never strayed from the pasta Pro: inexpensive, quick, large portions Cons: microwaved toppings (i guess you get what you pay for) Hidden gem: Sign up for the perka app. You need to check in and tell the cashier so they can give you the punch to earn free food. I did not realize this and ended up not getting my first check-in. You can't just check-in which makes sense or people would abuse the system read more

Not to be confused with Za's Italian Cafe, but there are a bunch of similarities. This establishment features customizable options and I gotta say that the food they give you here is significantly less than what you would get at Za's. There's room to eat upstairs and I would recommend it. Eating downstairs means that you have to deal with customers who are constantly writing down their orders on the railings in very close proximity to you. read more

Haven't had a chance to try out the sandwiches or the pizza, but the pasta is excellent. An old review mentions frozen pasta but it definitely tastes fresh. Something odd is that you never know how long it will take to get your order. If there is a long line and just two people working, it can take 15-20 minutes to make your order, but this doesn't happen too often. Check out the second floor if you want to dine-in. Having the flexibility to order exactly what you want (with various, unique pastas, sauce, and meat/protein and vegetable combinations) at an affordable price makes this one of the best places on-campus to get a quick, healthy meal. This doesn't include downtown Champaign/Urbana of course. Kudos for having a whole-wheat pasta option. I find the pasta here much better than Noodles, but Noodles does have one or two unique options, specifically the Japanese Soba noodles. The penne rosa is very popular, but you can get essentially the same dish with far more vegetables, pasta, and tofu/meat if you order any pasta with vodka sauce. In my personal opinion, the sauce is better at Mia Zas. One area for improvement is the wait time to order food. Also, the "Spicy" option is hardly hot so definitely add more chili flakes if you want spicy pasta. read more
