Came here for some dessert to go. There are various of cheesecake to choose from. I ordered a S'mores cheesecake. It tasted good at the first few bites, while gradually becoming greasy until I couldn't finish all the cake. The service was great and fast though. Mia Za's holds a very sentimental place in my heart because it is the reausturant i went to the day i moved in. It has NEVER disappointed. Everything i get, let that be a sandwich or pizza or pasta or cake it is ALWAYS buss. I would recommend the pizzas (especially the ones pictured) bc those are probs my fav thing I've gotten so far. I love the location too, it is so convenient and has a lot of seating (upstairs). It is a wonderful place to get dinner or lunch with friends or family. Really enjoyed the create-your-own sheets, it makes ordering a lot less stressful. The food smells so good and tastes wonderful, it's warm and well portioned. The employees are nice and very willing to answer questions about your order. The music they play too is different, they're not like other restaurants that just play mainstream music on repeat, they have variety. It basically is one of those fill out the paper of toppings you want and turn it in at the counter establishments. Seems kind of amateurish but oh well fuck it. The customers are filling out their papers and getting in the way. On to the waiting game. Service here is pretty slow. Just put out some food already. Long wait. I ordered a pasta for carryout. It's $5.99 for the regular size. This comes with your choice of toppings. Be aware they automatically put cheese on everything. You have to select to leave it off. Fucked up the first order and had to do it again. More waiting. Finally it came. The bowl was already small and it was hardly filled, and the toppings were pretty sparse and not much was added on. Forget getting something from here. It's just next to Shawarma Joint. There's even an entrance in the wall so you won't have to go outside. read more

Usually I get a salad but I've gotten pizza here before. Both are pretty good. The price is relatively reasonable for the amount. However that's only the case for their large size. Their regular or smaller size is cheaper but the food is not enough. Their regular salad feels more like a side salad and their pizza is only a couple bites. Flies were lining the walls and ceiling, I was swatting them away as I was sitting waiting for my food. This is a major health code violation as flies transmit pathogens to the food that customers are then consuming and staff members are working around. There were no visible fly traps or pest control, just flies around the staff actively making the food- it was so disgusting. Even more disgusting was the managers rude, dismissive attitude towards this health and safety risk.. She says "the flies are fine". The staff is basically all college kids who could care less about your safety in regards to the food they are serving. I would avoid this place until you can't see flies on the walls. read more

My goodness are there prices so good! And nope.. I did not mistakenly write prices instead of pizzas because their prices really are that good. So are there pizzas. I am so surprised that for less than ten dollars, I can have a more than filling meal. Their regular size pizzas (big individual size) is a little over $5 and a large pizza is a little over $7. My favorite is the margharitta pizza, but you can also customize your pizza exactly the way you want it with different sauces, toppings, etc. I haven't had a chance to dine in because of the pandemic, but I will definitely update this review regarding my dining in experience when I actually do in the future. For now, I'm just happy that I can have a good pizza at a reasonable cost for a student! read more

The food tasted great and we got free breadsticks with a special butter the owner made and was trying out. It was really delicious! He stopped by to talk to us about the butter and his work history. Update: since I was last here, they've added two huge tv screens in the entrance area, opened up the food prep area so you can see your food being made, and changed their order forms a little. Things that happened when I was there on this particular occasion: the "power mix" greens included the very bottom of a romaine head (the part you don't wanna eat), most of the seating was closed to people eating alone, and my food came out quick with smiles and accuracy. read more

Restaurant review I am glad that I am back by Za's after moving back to Champaign. This was my favorite place to eat at on campus when I was a medical student. Now that I am back I have found out that there are multiple locations which works out well. The prices are actually cheaper than when I was here for college due to a modification in the menu. For the pasta you get to select from multiple types and sauces with 4 toppings for 5 dollars. The premium protein items i.e shrimp, meatballs, chicken will run you a dollar more each. The food is prepared quickly, however I don't know if they changed it now to use a convection oven/microwave to nuke your toppings which is one down side. This is then added to a pan with the sauce and served quickly. You also get a nice piece of garlic bread. All and all this is better than McD and for the same price. There are also other options such as pizza, salads, sandwiches etc. I have never strayed from the pasta Pro: inexpensive, quick, large portions Cons: microwaved toppings (i guess you get what you pay for) Hidden gem: Sign up for the perka app. You need to check in and tell the cashier so they can give you the punch to earn free food. When my friend and I wanted something convenient and quick to eat, the first restaurant that came to my mind is Za's. Everytime I've been here, I've been pleased with the food and service. So I fill out my sheet to eat, checking off the dish and sides I want and hand it to the man at the register. He goes over what I had ordered, and heard some unfamiliar items come out of his mouth but didn't think anything of it. I pay and then ask "did this come with chips?" to which he said "yes... you ordered chips." I ask to see the order form and turns out he charged me for 4 sides/combos when I had checked off two. I clarified what I had ordered and apologized but instead of being the bigger person as well as employee with a nice response, he continued to pester me about how I CHECKED off my order instead of FILL IN the bubbles. I once again apologized for the misunderstanding to which he cut me off and proceeded to grab a marker near him and show me how to fill out the bubbles the right way. His tone of voice was also very condescending and rude, making a scene to the other customers at the register. I was embarrassed, and never received an apology for his inappropriate behavior. When I received my food, there was also no dressing on and the parmesan cheese I had ordered on my pasta was half in the bowl and half on the tray it came on. Horrible service and pretty rough food. I get how this is on a campus and not a 5 star restaurant but there should be no reason why a college student should have to write a Yelp review on a Saturday night about their experience at a restaurant. The owner does not wear a mask. And this is not just a one-time thing. I've been in to the restaurant 4-5x this semester since September and not once was the owner wearing a mask. The first time I was in, the owner was even loudly shouting across the kitchen to other employees (over the open food, pizzas that were being prepared, etc.) while not wearing his mask. I mentioned it to one of the employees that first time and they assured me that it was not the norm/would bring it up to him. However, every subsequent time I've been in, the owner has still not been wearing his mask. It's sad when the 20-year old college students who work there have better hygiene & care more about COVID policies than the actual owner of the establishment. Stop being so entitled. I recognize most college students probably won't care, but if you do take COVID seriously, this is not the place to go. I've kept trying again because there are too few other options on Green Street right now and because the food is OK, but my hopes that they'll take COVID more seriously have been proven wrong each time. The server could barely hide her snarl when I asked a question, but that's because they were serving about 3,000 people at once. Honestly, it felt like Henry Ford was making a Model T-ortelini. I do like that you can customize salads and sandwiches and pasta--and that lemon cream sauce is DELICIOUS. However, it has all the personality of a computer science grad student, and the old-style Italian movie poster lend very little charm.
