Torito Ahogado Takeout
Jacques I.

After spending a day at a nearby state park, we needed to find a late lunch before heading to a winery in the area. We were passing through the city of Kittitas, so decided to drive through town and see what was open. Therefore, we found Mi Ranchito La Joya Mexican Grill. It was a great choice. Located in the main area of town, it was easy to find along the one street of businesses. Parking out front was available and we were relieved to see that it was open. Once we walked in, the staff was ready for us to either dine-in (since they're in phase 2) or do takeout. We decided to get takeout so we could bring it to the winery. The menu had a lot to offer, with classic Mexican dishes and a handful of different meat options. My boyfriend ordered the carne asada plate and I tried the torito ahogado. It took about 15 minutes for us to get our food, and everything was packaged neatly with utensils and napkins and two different salsas on the side. More importantly, the food was delicious! My boyfriend enjoyed his carne asada plate and said it was better than other Mexican spots we've been to back home. My torito ahogado was also very good! I was able to choose any kind of meat, so went with the pork adobada, which was very tender. My dish was similar to a burrito, drenched in a red chile sauce with a hint of heat! Inside the stuffed tortilla was the pork, lettuce, tomato, onions, rice and beans, and was topped with sour cream and cheese. Delicious - and it went well with our red wine! Mi Ranchito was a great stop in Kittitas, and am glad to have checked it out, especially since there aren't that many good Mexican spots back home in Bellevue. Food was fresh, filling and tasty. I would eat here again when in the area.

Camarones Aguachile

We found this gem on our way from Seattle to Spokane the night before Thanksgiving. The food was excellent and authentic! The owners were a very nice family and took great care of us. We had Camarones Aguachile, Camarones Chipotle, and Quesadillas. Hand made corn tortillas too! Small place with big flavor! We'll be back!

Perfect thing to grab on the way back from the Gorge. Nice service and good food! Could use a few more vegetarian options.

The drinks, the food, the service ...it was all fantastic! They have an extensive menu, and it's authentic Mexican food. It's different from any other mexican restaurant in town. Just try it once. I think you'll like it. HAPPY HOUR is M-F, 11am-3pm! Be sure to ask for the menu! I found out that La Santa and Roslyn Mexican Grill are owned by brothers and both are amazing...with a little different menu! La Santa is in the old Yellow Church building just a block off Main at Capitol and Pearl. 111 S Pearl.

It was quite massive, coming on top of a green tomatillo salsa, and topped with melted cheese. While the melted cheese didn't really cover the full burrito - it was already fatty enough that I didn't mind it. The pork wasn't amazingly juicy or anything, but there were a lot of pieces inside (larger pieces than I expected). The rice and refried beans inside were decent as well. I also liked the amount of green tomatillo salsa the burrito sat in. It provided a fresh, slightly sour flavor that took away a bit from the fattiness. Like I already mentioned, this burrito was absolutely gargantuan. It did cost a good amount at over $20, but you could easily share this with other person and leave satisfied. Also, the salsa provided with the chips at the start was actually spicy and quite good. Overall, it's nothing mindblowing, but it's decent Mexican food in a town with not much outside of fast food. 7.25/10

A little disappointed that the chips and salsa costed $3.50, but life is crazy these days. The go to food would be the Chimichanga! It was phenomenal! Perfectly fried and absolutely delicious. I would like to try other aspects of the menu one day. There are plenty of options and I was filled up to the brim of food. May the Lord bless and keep this place. Their chips are very crispy and fresh, and I really enjoyed the flavor of their salsa. The guac is chunky and delicious, tastes very fresh. My dinner buddy really enjoyed his tofu burrito, which he described as "so big, it's almost too big" and "the size of a baby". Can confirm it was the biggest burrito I have seen in a while. The al pastor was decent, although it did not have pineapple as Al pastor usually does, and strangely came with radishes and spring greens? A bit odd. The rice and beans were alright, not the best. Service was great, everyone there was very friendly and attentive and food came out quickly. We enjoyed sitting in their outdoor seating area, which was quite spacious.

My favorites are the pollo a la crema or the fajitas with either prawns or chicken. The portions are a very good size too, I usually get two or three meals out of one entree. My suggestion was Mexican food, and this restaurant was right along the way... How convenient. It was middle of the afternoon, and kind of slow in the restaurant, and the service took a while to get to our table, but when they did, it was good service. Like I mentioned it was slow in the afternoon. It was quiet in the restaurant not a lot of noise, other than what was coming from the kitchen. We partook of a number of things on the menu, I always lean towards the enchiladas, my wife chose the chicken mole, and our friends had the other dishes that are in the photos, can't recall what they were. All in all, the food was quite good, and very hot, and fresh. We did partake of margaritas for the ladies, and a couple of beers for the guys. The beers were ice cold with chilled glasses, which really hit the spot after the hike. The ladies said that the margaritas were spot on as well. Well done, thank you.

While every dish is an eating experience, the Early Bird has monthly specials that are as unique as they are wonderful. The only problem: they only exist for that month (although manager Erica tells me they occasionally have made a monthly special a permanent fixture). Come early or late on weekends -- The Early Bird is often difficult to snag a table, especially on Sunday mornings and in the winter when they don't use their outdoor dining area. Also: their adjacent sister eatery, the Night Owl, is a similarly high-quality Korean restaurant.

Unfortunately for me, many other concert goers had the same Sunday morning plan. While The Early Bird is delicious, it's by no means speedy. We originally received a 45-minute wait for takeout, but ended up waiting closer to 75-minutes. My order consisted of the Eggs Benedict bowl with the veggie medley, monkey bread, and a hazelnut iced latte. The perfect cure after a night of debauchery. You can tell they're doing their best to manage crowd control, especially the morning after a popular concert. Something to note is that you must have a table secured before ordering food. They don't let you order and wait to be seated to help lessen the crowding. Pro tip: the city park behind this building is much better spot to wait for your food. There's seating and even private bathrooms - a god-send after a night of camping at the Gorge.
