Strawberry and peach agua fresca since I couldn't decide.
    Mike C.

It's been six years since I first tried this. I've returned on random Tuesdays to get a late breakfast or to bring lunch back to the office. What brought me here was two offerings on their specials board menu (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=FE6Fc48IM_TyLrTUhnXPEw&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q). When I first tried them, there were only three or four menu items with variations on three of protein or vegetable choices. Buying these after shopping, I started with the birria sandwich (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=e-VWDi6re0k720oZmMnhAA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q), comprised of birria, sour cream, salsa, cheese, hot sauce, and consomme dip; the shredded beef was smokey and served on a grilled bread (Acme?). It came with a small salad. Think French Dip with more spices and a little heat. After conservatively dipping into the broth, I drank every last drop as a soup to end my meal. I would order this again. Later that day, I had half of the crispy corn salad (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=siwnaI3ihNUvsatJxXi5mA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q), which is romaine, black beans, bell pepper, roasted corn, cilantro with an onion and basil vinaigrette for dinner; I paired this with a bowl of soup and it was perfect. The greens were crisp and the mix of ingredients made this an interesting dish with the salad dressing being slightly tangy and not overly salted. I finished the rest of it as part of my dinner the following night. I also brought a cup of passion fruit agua fresca (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=NRGD0kS8C9zwiH2W849YQQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) home, waiting to fill a glass with ice before pouring it over to drink. I liked that it wasn't thick like some I've had and the sweetness didn't overwhelm the passion fruit flavor. This was a good reminder that I shouldn't overlook their menu if I don't have a lunch appointment after shopping. Will continue to look at the specials board or get something from their regular menu that I haven't had in a while.

Tamale with a spicy red sauce very delicious

I first found out about Mi Comedor through the app TooGoodToGo most meals are very affordable at $ 4.99 through the app. Since I work close by to the Ferry Building I thought I should give it a try. I have ordered several meals and have been nothing but pleased. I have had three meals so far and everything has been delicious, well prepared, and sufficient portion sizes. My first meal was a tamale with a spicy red sauce, a chicken quesadilla, green pozole, and a agua Fresca. I was impressed with the flavors, taste, and portion sizes. Mi Comedor is at the Ferry Building during the farmer's market that is held there. The staff is friendly and efficient as well. There are no tables it is grab and go situation but I am fine with that since I eat my meals at work. I definitely plan on eating there again as the food is delicious not heavy or greasy. A fresh approach to Mexican food. Every dish I have purchased as been fresh and delicious.

I always look forward to Tuesdays and Thursdays because that's when Señora Olivia and her team create magic at the Ferry Building. The air is filled with the scent of freshly made tortillas, traditional salsas, and a vibrant mix of meats, spices, and toppings that awaken the senses. Every bite is crafted with care - a tribute to the heart of Mexican cuisine. These tacos are more than just a meal--they're a love letter to flavor, the very best tacos in San Francisco.

Came here on a weekday after an appointment. Got the carne asada burrito. Burrito definitely seemed small when I got it but when I opened the foil wrap, the burrito was stuffed with ingredients (no empty space between anything!). Definitely satisfied with the portion and looking forward to trying some of their other items.

    Chilaquiles w/ scrambled egg

While visiting the Ferry Plaza farmers market, I had heard the chilaquiles here were great and this was the only place selling them. These are some of the best chilaquiles I've ever had, they are simple, just tortilla chips, salsa, egg (however you'd like), crema, and raw chopped red onion. The flavor is perfect, everything is perfectly seasoned and the crema is pleasant as the salsa is spicy. Be careful bc the heat will sneak up on you, I'm serious it's pretty spicy for most. I think they add habanero to their red salsa. Regardless, very tasty and a must try if you love Mexican food!

Tacos I got today at Ferry Building Farmers market were delish! Chicken stewed and pork with pineapple! Easy to get. South side of the Embarcadero front!

Yum! Super fresh and light (not greasy!). Pineapple chicken, beans, rice and a tomato/corn salad.

This review is for their stand at the Ferry Building!! They offer really speedy service, but most importantly good food! Their Mexican food doesn't feel heavy or greasy, and instead is fresh and light! Their stand is part of the Ferry Building Farmers Market. This is a great spot for tourists and locals alike to explore all sorts of food, ranging from veggie only stands to fancy cheeses to stands like Mi Comedor that serve prepared meals. Check the schedule, as the Farmers Market does not operate every day. But if you are in town on an operating day, I highly recommend carving out time to visit. It's held both inside/outside of an iconic building, and easily accessible right off Embarcadero BART/MUNI too.

Tacos El Patron is still my go-to spot for birria tacos in the city…read more Food: I first discovered birria tacos during the pandemic and went on a mission to find the best one. A coworker recommended this place, and now I recommend it to everyone. What stands out is the balance--everything is done well. The meat is rich and flavorful, the tacos themselves are just as good, and the consommé ties everything together perfectly. I've tried places where one part is strong but something else falls short, but not here. You also get free sides like onions, cactus, radish, and beans, which make the meal even better. I've been coming back ever since, and I can easily finish three tacos in one sitting. On my most recent visit, I had two birria tacos and tried their birria ramen. It was surprisingly good--comforting and flavorful, more like a homemade dish than anything instant. For drinks, I've tried all their jugos, and the jamaica is the standout--get it in a large. Service: Friendly, efficient, and straightforward. Orders come out at a good pace, and the staff keep things moving even when it's busy. Ambience: The space has a Frida Kahlo-inspired design, which adds character and makes it feel lively and unique. There's one restroom available. Parking: Parking can be a bit difficult in the area, so expect to walk a little--but it's worth it once you get your food. If you're serious about finding a really good birria taco, this is one to try.

Tacos El Patron is worth the effort to figure out where to park, etc. it's not quite a hole in the wall, but it definitely is on the smaller side, and we ended up getting food to go because it was just easier. The birria quesadilla was a total surprise. It was FILLED with a very generous amount of meat. The meat was tasty, lightly seasoned, and the portion truly is a shareable. We asked about the consommé and I don't know if they just forgot it or what happened but we never got to try it. The shrimp taco was tasty and absolutely filled with again generous amount of shrimps. Ironically, it wasn't my favorite. It just was lacking the level of flavor that I really wanted. The Carne Asada was mediocre at best and not something that I would order again. The winner out of the numerous items that we ordered was the pork belly and the Al pastor. Between the two, the Al pastor is the one that you want. Incredibly well seasoned, a nice hint of light spice, the meat was juicy and tender, and the combination in the taco was outstanding. Seriously so good that my mouth is watering just thinking about how tasty it was. The chips were nothing to write home about, and I didn't really care for salsas that came with the meal. Really reasonably priced, generous amount of food, and absolute worth the push in enjoying their food! Diners tip: there seems to be a description in cost between ordering online versus in the restaurant and you may get a better deal ordering online

This place is famous for their burritos and especially the "Dorado style," which tastes amazing -- BUT what they don't clearly disclose anywhere is that the Dorado style burrito is cooked in pork lard unless you specifically ask for it "dry" or with vegetable oil. As someone who does not eat pork for religious reasons, finding that out after already eating there was honestly really upsetting. And the frustrating part is that there is NO clear sign or disclosure telling customers this. If I never asked, I would have had no idea. I actually still like this spot and appreciate that they at least offer a dry/vegetable oil option if you ask, but customers should not have to investigate ingredients themselves to avoid pork. Jewish, Muslim, vegetarian, and other customers deserve transparency. A simple sign or note on the menu saying that Dorado style is prepared with pork lard by default would solve this issue completely. Great food, but this absolutely needs to be disclosed better. One of my all time favorite spots in general.
