I remember thinking that the landscape lighting company that put in the outdoor walkway and garden lights for us 20 years ago, also installed sprinklers. It's hard to believe it was that long ago but the reason I had lost contact with them was the lighting system has never failed! This is 3 water heaters and 2 air conditioners and a furnace later.... I dug around in my house file and found the black line layout print for the mechanicals. The accent lighting was not overdone and the pathways were well spaced, and by using a soft white glow on the flowers and trees, our landscaping looks to have a little natural sunshine on it at night! The best part still today is the stone pathways are easy to navigate but don't look like an "airport runway" like you see when the lights are too cold white bright or or too close together. A truly great design. I think Steve did the layout himself, ask for him, the owner, although I don't know if he still runs the design dept. over there. Bertog used top of the line timing components and cable I remember being told at the time, and it must have been true as there are no shortcuts to long term success like this. We selected the actual fixtures (Kichler) from their catalogs and they did the work. The only thing I have to do now is change the low voltage bulbs every few years. The one time they had to return was when I called to ask them to add on a in ground spotlight for our flagpole after Sept. 11th. They came right out and put it in. The only thing they "forgot" was the bill. To make a long story short, they are going to be putting in our sprinklers for us!

After a job well done, we called them back to install a blue stone chip firepit in our back yard. Sue is pretty helpful, showing us photos of three or four different options. The estimate was a little bit all over the place - we wound up having to negotiate a bit and took some items out to get a good value that we were overall very satisfied with. We'd recommend Bertog and would work with Sue again in the future. They can be a little slow to schedule, but they do try their best to be accommodating and they do very good work. We're overall very happy to have found them.
