Bad move. Wait list was 2 months for a new patient appointment. When I got there I checked in at 10:10am. At 12:10pm I gave up and walked out. You only get one chance to make a first impression. If you have an APPOINTMENT, you should not be having to wait over 2 hours without being seen. Complete waste of a morning. Gave the extra star since the Urgent Care was nice and the employees I dealt with seemed nice.

I came in to address and issue with my son's toe walking and due to my own confusion and delay he is behind on , I was hoping to get a new pt referral. Confused not really sure what to do or how to start this lady has the nerve to tell me I "dropped the ball" yet... I'm there in her office, "ball" in hand already feeling defeated by the situation and in to addition the leg braces he has to wear that make him immobile ..this no help, she was incredibly insensitive and highly unprofessional. Single mom taking time off work to address my son's health, doing the best I can with what I got and some lady decides to tell me I'm not doing good enough?!? I've dropped the ball?!? Where is she to help out? People love to judge a situation but offer no help or understanding. I was in office to obtain professional guidance, support assistance and instead got a rude so called doctor who barely even examined my child and was more concerned with my insurance situation then giving a complete physical. Worse experience ever at Castle. Won't be back.

WOW. I cannot believe how UNPROFESSIONAL this facility is. We went in for our newborn daughters…read more1-month appointment where she needed her second dose of a Hep B vaccine. Well, turns out they had "just ran out". We thought okay, this is weird but I guess it can happen. The doctor informed us, our daughter can have the Hep B vaccine on her 2-month visit, along with the other vaccines. We agreed, believing the unfortunate situation to be a fluke and scheduled our daughter for her 2-month appointment. Well we go in for her 2-month appointment, wait approximately one hour, an the nurse informed us the facility had "just ran out" of the vaccine our daughter needs. We were in complete disbelief! We had cleared out our schedules, asked for the day off from work to take our daughter to get her 2-month shots but again we were not able to since they had ran out of the vaccine. Keep in mind this appointment was made a month in advance. I just don't understand how they were not prepared for our appointments, after all that is what an appointment is for. We have received appointment reminders one day before, why not advise us over the phone the vaccines for our daughter will not be available. Instead we both take time off from work, drive 30 minutes and wait one hour to be notified in person by a nurse they have ran out of the vaccines our daughter needs. We addressed the issue and expressed our concerns on these type of situations reoccurring to the Office Manager, Andrea. Andrea informed us these types of situations are common at this facility. I will no longer have my daughter be a patient here & do not recommend Olivewood Pediatrics to others.

I took my daughter to Valley Children's clinic in Merced. She was diagnosed with having a…read morepilomatricoma (similar to a small cyst) on her neck. The doctor said that it could easily be removed with surgery. Before the surgery was scheduled, the clinic sent me an estimate of what the operation would cost. The estimate was just over $13,000. A friend of mine suggested contacting a dermatologist to avoid putting her through surgery. The dermatologist said that removing it would be a simple in-office procedure. We decided that was the better of the two options. As planned, the doctor numbed the area, removed the small protrusion, put a few stitches in, and sent her on her way. The cost was around $400. My question is: WHY WOULDN'T VALLEY CHILDREN'S EXPLAIN THAT AN OPERATION WASN'T NECESSARY IN THIS CASE? Why was surgery with an anesthesiologist recommended rather than opting for a much simpler (and less expensive) in-office procedure? I have one additional complaint to offer here. The one-time office visit to Valley Children's clinic (explained above) lasted about 15 minutes. I received a doctor's bill for that visit and paid it right away. Later I received a separate bill from the clinic and questioned what the requested $189 was for. It seems that the clinic is entitled to charge a patient for walking in the door. That charge is separate from the doctor's charge. To me, this doesn't seem fair. While I do believe Valley Children's Hospital and clinics help many kids with major medical problems, they are definitely an over-priced alternative to other avenues of medical care. In this case, I believe the non-profit organization was being intentionally deceitful.
