They had a little market at the farm location for a while, but I can't say though I live by the house, I am happy for the store front. With it being at the house before, you didn't want to bother them potentially. RLM has done dinners in the past, they normally have treats for sale at the farmers markets, they work with the entire local food movement, bringing sand hill diary milk and cheeses to our area, working with Lattin farms and getting more produce, they raise their own meat and have their own CSA, and packages and more. I have tried the Sand HIll milk, so much creamier than store bought milk, it is pasteurized, but not homogenized. It has a different taste too, which honestly, was hard to adapt to, being raised on model dairy milk. I love history and the past, so I like to imagine I got it from the front door at 5 in the morning from the milk man in glass jars. They have quite a selection of produce considering how small they are, black radishes, and other crazy vegetables I've never heard or seen. They have great hours too, Monday thru Saturday 8:30 to 6. Also they have starters, and they brought in dwarf citrus trees, the prices are great at $39.95. Really a huge benefit for those that want to learn more about where their food comes from, and support it when possible. Thank you! Edited to add: They are also very tech friendly, you can order online and they will have it ready for pick up at the store. They have specials and a basket bundle as well. They take cards as well. They make it very hard not to support them.

I'm looking forward to a CSA box this summer and making many more trips to that cute little store downtown. Thanks so much to the owners for what they do!

Worth Every Mile If…read moreyou're traveling through Winnemucca and don't stop at the Martin Hotel, you're missing one of the true gems of northern Nevada. This isn't fancy, pretentious dining. It's honest, family-style comfort food done exceptionally well, and you can feel the history the moment you walk through the door. The portions are enormous. My partner ordered a steak sandwich and honestly thought they had accidentally brought him two sandwiches because it was that big. Trust me--you are not leaving hungry. Now for my favorite part... I decided to be adventurous and ordered the sweetbreads. I'll admit it--I had absolutely no idea what sweetbreads were. I figured maybe it was some kind of bread with gravy. Nope. Turns out I had ordered a classic delicacy made from organ meat. My partner looked it up while I was halfway through eating it and told me exactly what I was eating. Did I stop? Absolutely not. It was damn good, and I'll wear that experience like a badge of honor from now on. Sometimes the best meals happen when you step outside your comfort zone. Everything we ordered was cooked perfectly, the flavors were outstanding, and the family-style meal made the experience even better. The service was warm, welcoming, and exactly what you'd hope to find in a historic restaurant that's been serving travelers for generations. The Martin Hotel isn't just another place to eat. It's an experience. It's history. It's Nevada. And I can honestly say I'll be looking forward to my next trip through Winnemucca just so I have another excuse to eat here. Highly recommended. Five stars.

The service was good and all the employees were friendly. Dinner is served family style with your party along with other parties who are seated at your table. At first I was skeptical of this, but we actually had some really good conversations with two other couples at our table. You receive complimentary starters that will be passed from one end of the table to the other. The complimentary dishes were all really good and filling. We all ordered their dinner special which was a New York strip with mushrooms and garlic. We requested extra garlic, but the garlic was pretty much raw (should have been sautéed). The New York had way too much fat which was disappointing because it was only a 10 oz. I didn't try their bread pudding because I was so stuffed with all the sides I ate, but those at our table mentioned it was delicious. The complimentary glass of wine was a nice touch to start the evening. I ordered myself a Picon drink (I believe this is their signature drink) and it was really refreshing. Overall, I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try. I will definitely be a returning customer whenever I am either visiting or passing through Winnemuccca.
