We were traveling through town and I love Greek salads so we made this our dinner stop. Guess what, I ordered a Greek salad. It had a good amount of Kalamata olives, tomatoes, and cucumbers. My fav is when there it little to no lettuce but it was still good. Liked the dressing. It was large enough that I took some home and ate for lunch the next day. I did have to order a separate basket of pita bread. Felt like a couple of pieces should have been served with the salad. Husband had a chicken shishkebob. It was delicious. After a long day of travel, this place really hit the spot for dinner. It's small, but cozy inside and was pretty busy for Friday night dinner. The stuffed grape leaves were wonderful- they didn't have meat in them, but the rice filling had the typical Greek seasonings and a nice hint of mint. For my main, I ordered the Chicken Shawarma. It came with either soup or salad and I picked the lentil soup even though it was 95 degrees outside. I thought it was quite good and might try to make at home sometime! The shawarma plate was huge! I think two people could have shared this and sadly, I couldn't finish it all. The pita bread was nice and fluffy and the chicken had a nice taste, although I expected it to maybe have paprika and hummus with it but it did not. The rice was fine - it didn't have too much flavor but was cooked well. Overall, I enjoyed eating here! The restaurant was kind of hot inside. They had fans going but I'm not sure if the air was working or if maybe they don't have air, but it was a little stuffy. I came here on a whim with my friend after a Yoga class, and what a wonderful surprise! It's located in a smaller strip mall, but the interior is warm, inviting, and comfy. For an appetizer, we ordered grape leaves. I'm used to them being cold, but these ones were warm, which was a nice surprise. This use to be a favorite of ours in our home town. We took some out of town family there last night and were seated right away as we had reservations. After 20 minutes my husband got up and asked the host to please send the server over as she hadn't been to our table yet.. not a good start. Opened the menu and the Italian (pasta) options are gone. A whole page is eliminated. I was so disappointed as they had such a great selection of pasta and now it's not offered. On to the meal, my BIL ordered the Turkish meatballs and he had a tough time as it was just too much lamb in it so just take notice if you order those. My mediterranean salad came with no dressing so I had to flag down the waitress for dressing which took some doing. My husband and SIL had the falafel's and they were good as usual. Sadly, a CBD store moved in next door and now this place smells like a marijuana party - I had a headache within 10 minutes. This is a cute little place that has a cozy vibe to it and while it filled up fairly quickly, it was no problem getting a table at 4pm. The portions are huge and the wine list is not bad - found a montepulciano on there that was fantastic with the falafel's flavor. I think if they shaped the falafel a little differently it'd be a little less gummy in the middle but the flavor was on point. I ordered the chicken shish kebab and the tumeric rice was fabulous. My friends and I dropped by this amazing Turkish restaurant today for delicious food. Every bite was just as good as the last. We began with Eggplant Salad, Cigar Borak, and Grape Leaves. The Eggplant Salad tasted fresh, it reminded me of salsa, it was served with warm pita bread. Cigar Borak was creamy and warm feta and mozzarella cheese inside of a crispy shell with a delicious marinara sauce. Every bite was amazing. I even took a couple bites with the Eggplant Salad. It is tradition in Turkey to eat the lentil soup not salad before dinner. We each ordered this for tradition. The lentil soup was one of the best lentil soups I have had. I could have had this alone and been satisfied but we are not done yet. I split the Imam Fainted and Adana Kebap with my friend. The Imam Fainted was wedges of eggplant in a well spiced vegetable marinara sauce. Again every bite was amazing. Adana Kebap is a long sausage looking bit of lamb. It was served with an onion and tomato salad, cabbage, turmeric rice, and a yogurt sauce. Every bite was delicious. Please try this amazing restaurant!! Great family place in Sun Prairie that has a reasonably large menu but many of the things seem very similar...and some small things need work. Meze is honestly one of my favorite places to go with family - good food, good service, quite enough to talk in (why do so many places seem they have to bombard you with sound?) Staff is good, wine list is ok, desert very nice So why not five stars? It's some of the little items. - the dipping oil...pass, the oil is very bland and the seasonings don't make up for it. - Soups - definitely could use more seasoning. The food is amazing - much of it family recipes. There are even delicious salads for my guy who is a meat and potatoes kinda guy. Tried appetizers, something I rarely do. Both were great.
