I had birria tacos and they were delicious. Chips and salsa were also very good. The service isn't speedy, but the staff is very nice and it's worth a little extra time. read more

Mezcal 2 - Birria tacos! - Mexican Near Me - Clinton, Iowa

I did a pick up order and the girl at the register was completely rude. They forgot to put something in my order when I called it in. And when I asked if they could add it, they said it was gonna be like a 45 minute wait for a stinking taco one taco was gonna be a 45 minute wait so I left without my tortillas and my taco. And she was rude. I doubt I'll be back. read more

Terrible Mexican food. Worst disgusting beans and rice I ever tasted at a Mexican restaurant. The margarita was also all sugar mixer, barely any tequila. Steer clear of this restaurant. Also an act of Congress to get another chips and salsa brought to the table. read more

Came here on a work trip. They had immediate seating for us, but I'll warn you, they had us packed in. I was so anxious I couldn't even eat. If I was alone, I would have left. The workers wore their masks, but still didn't make me feel comfortable with COVID. I'm not familiar with the local rules, so this may be allowed. Service was meh. We were forgotten about multiple times. When we asked for menus because they forgot to give them to us, we got attitude. Then they didn't even bring enough for the table. Food was pretty good, your average American Mexican food. Margaritas were not consistent and tasted different each time a new one was brought out. We come to the area pretty often for work and I doubt I'll be coming back here anytime soon. read more

We have ate there before and food is fairly good and the service was acceptable. However, Service can sometimes be a little questionable. Last visit we were left standing at the door for five or 10 minutes, and when someone finally came by they grab menus and us and marched us to a table that my wife didn't want to sit at. The waitress threw the menus on the table and turned around without answering my wife. It was a very uncomfortable situation. Maybe she was just having a bad day. read more

I had a great experience with this business tonight fast friendly service and amazing food . Thanks

Staff was efficient and nice. Came here on our adm haul. We seen it three times so we had to stop. It had Enough room for the semi in the huge parking lot beside them. Chili rellonos was different they filled it with queso instead I'd do half and half with queso and cheese. The food beats a truck stop. Salsa was great but I'd suggest adding more salt and tajin to the food items. read more

Mezcal 2 - a person holding a drink in front of a bowl of guacamole - Mexican Near Me - Clinton, Iowa

Delicious drinks and food! A bit slow on the service, and quite OVERPRICED but I will be returning. read more

For Clinton Iowa this has really good Mexican food. The wait staff is friendly, prices are a about what you'd expect. Probably the best Mexican food in town. read more

Food is okay. Some things were forgotten in my order and had to go back but they made it right.

I really enjoy the food at this place. The service was adequate. The prices were fair and the portion sizes are large. The food has more on authentic quality. Good Covid measures read more

I'm Mexican American and I can tell you that the food here is very good. The food appears home made. Prices are just right and the portions are very generous. Noticed that some of the hot salsa is available upon request. I ordered the fajita mix, a lot of food for one person. The wife raved about the Chile relleno. I recommend. read more

Food is delicious, but the service is very hit or miss.. most staff is very kind, but there are a few who are always rude. Still a great place to eat! read more

Great food and great service. We will be back again. The prices were reasonable. The bathrooms need some work and cleaning.

Great staff, very attentive. Great food. Have eaten here several times. My family loves it! Favorite mexican restaurant in Clinton. Taco salad is my awesome go too. Have had several diff items on the menu and they are all good. read more

Really REALLY fast! Holy cow, service was amazing. Staff was on top of it. Food was really hot & fresh. Veggie fajitas were really good- not greasy or salty at all. Kids loved the quesadilla, chicken burrito (which was the size of an enchilada), beans and rice. If you like some heat to your food ask for their hot sauce- so good!! I especially love that their chips weren't salted. If we're ever back in this area we will for sure come back! read more

This is the best since leaving California 4 years ago. Have been coming at least twice a week! Food and drinks are great, and service is good. The manager is a jerk! read more

Wonderful service... Wonderful food!! Being from out of town we fell upon this gem! Seriously great food but the service is above what one would usually expect. I wished I could move them to my town... It would be a weekly visit for sure! Thanks Mezcal 2. read more

Mezcal is easily the best Mexican restaurant in the Clinton area! Closest to legitimate Mexican food also! I can't get enough, the food is always delicious and the service is fantastic! read more

This place was really good but the air must not have been working the day we went. We are as quick as we could to get out of there. Next time we go near Clinton we will try it again in hopes that is comfortable to be inside the building. The food was decent and comparable to a normal restaurant you would find in California. We moved away a year ago and miss the Mexican food out there. This place does come closer then the ones we have tried and let me say we have tried a lot. read more

Good food, slow service and a waitress who told a person in my party "that they didn't have coffee". That became an issue that the manager had to step in on. It wasn't appreciated as they did have coffee and the waitress supposedly assumed that he wanted decaf. The atmosphere is fun even though the chairs are the same formula chairs I have seen in other Mexican restaurants. The AC seems to be problematic but that was better than the restaurants that freeze you out. read more

My family and I go here every Sunday, when kids eat free. This is easily one of our two favorite places in town. Great food and good prices. We are big fans of the lunch fajitas. Chips are great, too! The people there are super-nice. read more

Service here is insanely fast. Very nice wait staff and very friendly, lively atmosphere. Over all my experience there was pretty decent. The margaritas were ok, I'm not a big fan of the cheap margarita mix but they weren't too bad. My only real complaint is that when the food came out i feel they may have just been in too much of a rush to get it to the table. I got a shrimp quesadilla, the shrimp was cooked but the cheese inside was not melted. It was slightly warm but not hot, and my rice was cold. Which was kind of strange because it took maybe 7 minutes from the time my table ordered and when we got our food. I feel like the prices were reasonable. When the food came to our table i told the waiter I was impressed by the speed, he said the try to beat McDonald's drive thru times. Haha. will probably go back to try it out again, but for now I'll have to stick with a 3 star rating. read more

Great food. Good portion sizes. And unlike most Mexican restaurants I've been too they actually give you sour cream and not just a tiny drop. I highly recommend this place. They have good prices too. read more

Mezcal 2 Clinton Iowa. Great food wonderful tequilla drinks good atmosphere. Hearty lunch specials. Authentic Mexican food. 5 star restaurant. I will definitely return. read more

Just had a very nice lunch for a reasonable price were greeted at the door right away service was spectacular and people were very friendly

The food is descent but the service is not. The owner is beyond rude and the wait staff has gone downhill. The owners behavior (who is frequently there) is enough for me to not recommend this place to anyone and I will never step foot in there again! read more

Great food, great service, the best margaritas around. Fajitas are awesome! Server was very attentive and went the extra mile.

Absolutely horrible service. Extremely rude and was even rude to my 2 year old. Told him she didn't want a mess before he even did anything. Ridiculous. I'll stick with Mezcal in DeWitt, which is 100x better than Clinton. read more

This was recommended by friends of ours. They were busy. The waitress was very helpful and attentive considering how busy they were. Her name was Almanza. But to get our food took longer than was necessary. Once we received our food. It was ok. I don't know if I expecting more and got less. Or coming from Kansas City and used to better food. My wife who enjoys Mexican food but pays for it later. Received her food. It was too spicy. So she sent it back. The manager came over to ask why she sent it back. Then proceeded to tell my wife," we are busy so your going to have to wait a long time to get your food. Also he also then told her that he would have to throw away the food. Which I would hope they would not re-serve the food. I give the overall review a 3. But the waitress was a 5. Hopefully there is not another Mexican restaurant in town. Then customer service from the manager will have to be retrained. read more

I've been here about a dozen times and I've never been disappointed. I can never choose what I want so I always rely on the wait staff and I have never had a bad meal. The food is delicious, the staff super friendly and cheerful. You're doing yourself a disservice if you eat anywhere else this hole in the wall town. read more

Mescal 2 in Clinton is our new favorite restaurant. Excellent food and service. All of the wait staff are excellent! Their margaritas can't be beat. We can't wait for our next visit! Thank you to all of you at Mezcal 2 for always making our visit enjoyable. See ya soon! read more

This is your basic Mexican restaurant. They mostly have the traditional fare, with some authentic meals mixed in. Everything we had tasted good and arrived in a timely manner. The people working there, though, were the real reason for the 4-star rating. They made for a very enjoyable meal. They were very friendly, extremely outgoing, and made us feel very welcome. I'll be going back just for the service alone. read more
