There are a few rules of life that I have learned over my years on this planet. One of them is that if a taqueria is attached to a Mexican grocery store, you are going to get excellent food. Mexico Lindo is no exception. Humongous portions, fabulous red hot sauce, perfectly soupy refritos with queso blanco, awesome rice, grilled corn tortillas, cilantro/onion mix and my favorite accompaniment grilled onions and chili peppers came on my Carnitas plate. A mere glance and sniff of my mixed gorditas brought me back to my Mexico visits. The flour wrap was fried right-- you can eat it on its own. Grilled meats, cilantro, onion, and bits of tomato. Simple-- every ingredient danced on my tongue. The fillings only filled half the gordita shell and kind of spilled out-- messy, but worth it. I like that you give me.. little ol' me.. my very own bottles of fresh, unused, red and green salsa. From a fat content meets spice profile standpoint. And I can get the same spice in chicken. I like that. And I buy it too. But could you do me a favor? The grocery side: The grocery is nothing to write home about. I'm used to way better Mexican grocery stores. (Bradenton and Palmetto, just South of here, have some very good ones with more fresh ingredients and even fresh made tortillas). The taquería side: While I've also had much better tacos, I found these to be better than any of the downtown taco joints in St. Pete, so I'll definitely be back for those. Casita Taquería, Taco Bus, California Taco, and Red Mesa might be trendy, but they definitely cater to college kids and yuppies who don't know real Mexican cooking. All I have to say is that Epcot's Mexico had better tacos than this authentic Mexican joint. And that's pretty disappointing. The meat was mildly warm and wasn't seasoned well enough. The beans and rice were bland as well. They were out of steak, so we mistakenly tried pork skin. Imagine eating diced slugs stuffed in a soft tortilla that keeps falling apart. Now pretend that moment in time never happened and you didn't waste your money on something that traumatizing. Yeah...not as easy as you'd think. The fact that I was the only customer who didn't speak Spanish, probably means the food is legit. This place deserves more Yelp revies. I love Market Lindo. I've been to Senor taco, and I don't understand the hype behind it. Market Lindo offers larger tacos at a cheaper price. It is my stop for authentic Mexican food (read: onion and cilantro tacos). Market lindo offers double wrapped soft corn tacos for only $1.75 each. The workers pile on the meat; I am a pig and am usually full after 4. But I always get 5, the tacos are that good. Tip: don't be afraid to try all different kinds of mexican meat with your order- lengua here is very good, and the pastor and steak are staples as well. Make sure to enjoy a traditional Mexican soft drink for under $2, be it jarrito, sidral, or natural cane sugar coca cola. Friendly staff. The food must be good, because it was packed with people standing around waiting for their orders. I placed an order, and nothing. I finally had the opportunity to check out Mexico Lindo on my search for the most authentic restaurants in Pinellas (see my 2 lists for 30+ reviews). I went for the tacos, and the al pastor was excellent, and the chicken and beef were ok. One bonus is the grocery section has about the best Mexican beer selection I've seen in the Tampa area. I'll be stopping by when in the area again to try some other taco offerings. read more

This place is a hole in the wall Mexican grocery with attached restaurant and deli. It's amazing what they could cram in the small amount of space. They also have outdoor dining available as well in case you need to bring a dog or something. There gordita's are amazing. I have ordered these countless times, I recommend the pork. They're red salsa is also ridiculous, it is spicy yet very good. On weekends they also have tamales for $7.50. These tamales are likely homemade and are very delicious, one of the best tamales I've ever had, they come in packs of six. Prices are all very reasonable and affordable. read more
