This is a huge Chinese/Asian grocery store. It reminded me of an old Safeway due to its layout and signage. The first thing I noticed was how old, outdated and dirty the store was. We got there around 6:40pm and their hot food section was closed off. They did have a lot of prepackaged hot food in containers of protein, vegetables and noodles and prices were very cheap. They also had pre made sushi rolls with really good prices. After looking at the filthy lobster and Dungeness crab tanks, I was really turned off and lost all desire to purchase anything or look anymore. It seems like a pretty popular Asian grocery store, just not for me.

I really love this Asian Grocery, everyone is so friendly here, the service is tops. The first time I came in, I bought an adorable little bamboo plant. The Asian lady that sold it to me, we had a lovely conversation about bamboo plants & several other topics. Just the most beautiful, kind & super sweet human. The second time I came I got some food off the hot deli. "You can Pick 3 items." The food is very good & a great value. There is a little self serve "dine in" cafe room "The Black Dragon" where you can sit & eat. The servers in the hot deli are even more fabulous. Moi had a long long conversation about all the foods with them. They don't have chicken wings every day. Just some days. And it's random, so you just have to check daily if you want chicken wings. And they are freakin delicious. The giant fried prawns are amazeballs also. The other thing that they have on the hot deli that I love is the Hot & Sour soup. Theirs has mushrooms, tofu & black fungus in it. Fabulous :)... And of course they have the Chinese roasted duck, crispy pork belly & chinese BBQ pork. They are all incredible but the duck they sell here is amazeballs. I eat a lot of duck, make a lot of duck also but I eat a lot of Chinese Duck from the markets, Dallas, OKC, Pensacola, none of them compare to the Roasted Duck here. The Duck here is A MUST ORDER. Amazeballs. You must try the Roasted Duck here. The bad news is, the store has a slight foul odor, as per the fresh seafood area & the Sushi bar here sucks. The sushi they sell here is not my jam. Sorry, but the menu sucks. They don't even have a simple Avocado roll, salmon skin roll on the menu or a simple yellowtail roll. Womp Womp. Skip the Sushi :( However, this well stocked Asian Grocery store does have all the fresh asian veggies, asian greens, sprouts, noods, everything you need to whip up Asian foods, they even have 2 whole isles full of Asian cooking pots, tools, dishes, chopsticks etc., When I was there last, I wanted to purchase some new wood chopsticks & even though I can speak some Chinese I can't read it, so I asked the Asian lady at the front to translate the package for moi, as I was looking for real wood chopsticks not plastic or colored/dyed ones. Anyhoo, she took her time, was very patient, we read over a couple packs till we found the real wood ones that I wanted. She even ask a couple other ladies to translate it also to make sure we got the correct ones. Every time I have been here the service has been just incredible! Which brings me to why I'm writing this review in the first place. Over the weekend, I was in the store looking for stuff when I left my car keys somewhere in the store. I ran around looking for them, couldn't find them, so I went up to the ladies that helped me with the chopsticks, deli foods, bamboo plants etc., They quickly start talking together & she says, "oh yes, we have your keys" and she waves me over to the service desk where the other lady that helped me has them in her hands waving at me smiling with the biggest lovely smile. "Thank You so very much for the incredible service, finding my keys, helping me pick the baby bamboo, helping me get the right chopsticks. Thank you for your true kindness & over the top service. I really appreciate you." Will Return. Recommend.

Seafood was very fresh.i enjoyed both the raw oysters and the 2 live crabs.i hope i don't experience any negative side effects for eating all 10 oysters raw.it's definitely worth the money.the crabs was also delicious because you can taste the freshness of the live crabs as opposed to the frozen prepackaged crabs.anyways,MD Oriental Supermarket is my go to spot for fresh seafood.

Loads of variety here: scallion floss roll, pandan cake, pineapple bun, taro pastry, egg yolk pastry, mung bean cake... Bread heaven for sure! They've got cooked foods too: roast duck, BBQ pork, roast pork, beef tendon, duck wings, chicken feet. The taro paste is smooth and creamy. The bottom of the mung bean cake is a bit thick and dry.

This place is so much more than a Chinese grocery store! We drive 30 minutes to this store on a regular basis for authentic buns , baked goods and meats that you cannot get at Publix. The bakers who make these delicacies take great pride in their work and are genuinely happy whenever I buy their tarts. The store is everything you would expect from a genuine Chinese market. We love it! My sons enjoy filling their bellies with hotdogs wrapped in pastry before they hit the aisles and aisles of their favorite Chinese drinks, crackers, candies, noodles, and chips. They have flavors of Lays chips you won't find anywhere else. My mother law fills the cart with Chinese veggies, fruits and teas. Prices are great and variety is vast. Come hungry!

Let me just say this is one of my favorite Asian stores to go to. When I walk in it feels like I've been transported to another world. I am mixed with Asian, so I feel at home, the ambiance feels like childhood nostalgia. I use to go to the Asian stores with my family in Colorado and Arizona all the time. I miss that so this brings that joy everytime I come in. The pastry chefs are so nice, they let me pick what I'd like fresh off the pastry rack every time. I feel so spoiled and they also recommend different ones for me to try. Let me warn you though you hace to go before 10:30-11 am, or you miss out on the good buns.

Has everything I need. Fresh vegetables, snacks, bakery, and a small hot bar for food

We were visiting from California and was told that Pinellas Park was where to find the Asian community. On the way to a pho restaurant, we saw this market and immediately took a u-turn to go check it out. I would say this was comparable to west coast 99 Ranch Market. It's huge, has all and everything you see in a west coast market. One thing that I came across and I didn't noticed in west coast, were the different chip flavors from overseas! Lays chip brand had meat flavors like steak and braised pork! Thank you east coast market because now that I'm back in west coast, I've been going to each store and checking out their snack aisle. Each store has different variety of Lays from China and Thailand.

Really popular place for buying oriental food but the place was packed on Saturday with last minute shoppers. Store was very crowded but we found everything we needed. We got the last two bags of XL rice noodles, not sure why it is a very hard item to find. Lines move fast but but there are about four or five people per line and there are only five cashiers.

If you're on a rush, this place will have all Asian hot food for your belly instead of waiting at the restaurant. Love their selections and friendly owner. We ordered 3 entree: char siu ribs, soya chicken, cherry chicken with fried rice. All so good, meat extremely tender and juicy. Easy enough to eat for a hungry toddler! All cost like $11 for 3 of us. Very recommended this place!

I always come here when I need ingredients to make some of my favorite Asian dishes. They keep a variety of items in stock and usually I can find most of my ingredients here. It's a little hard to get help sometimes as they don't always understand you and sometimes there is a language barrier. The store is kept pretty organized and I can usually figure it out on my own. This is always my preferred location for any of my needs for my ingredients or even cravings for snacks I grew up with.

Outstanding variety of Asian foods, drinks, fruits, and delicacies. They have a hot food and sit down area to sample some excellent and unusual Asian food items while you are there. Need to do when there!

Ask the Community - MD Oriental Market

Is this a Chinese or Korean Market? Everyone keeps on saying "asian market".., but looks Chinese? I am looking for a Korean Market. Thnx

MD is mostly a Chinese market, however I find all the Korean brands there for much cheaper than at a Korean market (Assi, CJ, etc). Main cashiers speak Mandarin in different dialects of Mainland China mostly. I see customers speaking Korean here… Read more

    Are they still closed?

    They’re open again.

Is the fresh fish sashimi grade?

I don't think so. Sushi grade is hard to find. It must be fresh and frozen immediately. Whole Foods does it.

Do they sell ramen noodles? (Not instant)?

If still interested, there is a local Japanese grocery that does sell fresh Ramen noodles in Ramen kits. Kotobuki on Sheldon.

Does this store carry bamboo shoot chunks (not sliced) either frozen or canned? Thanks in advance.

They don't have chunks but whole ones where u can cut into chunks. Canned

I'm looking for a sauce called 'Unami', Trader Joe's used to carry it but have stopped. Anyone have an idea where to get it locally in St. Petersburg or the Tampa Bay area?…

I'm not sure, but maybe... " Umami " ? What do you use it for ?
