The general theme of Bikram is a bit Spartan (often in neat old mill buildings) so I didn't expect much with the studio in a small plaza. I was wrong. The studio is drop dead beautiful. The attention to aesthetic detail is incredible and the atmosphere is calm and serene. Way beyond the other studios (which are great, just more utilitarian) The class leader was very attentive and effective. Beginners are given special attention to feel welcome and reminded repeatedly that the goal at first is to just get used to the heat and stay for the whole session. Advice to newcomers: your goal is to stay in the room and get adjusted to the heat. Do a pose or two then sit down and when you are ready, do a pose or two then sit down. Don't overreach and then not come back thinking it is too intense. It isn't if you just relax and give yourself time to adjust over a few sessions. Most of the Bikram classes are predominately younger women with some young men and a few older or heavier folks. Don't let that discourage you. Everyone of every age and body type is welcome. I am 60 years old, 6'2" guy and could stand to lose 50 pounds.I am there with my level of fitness with my personal goals and that is all that matters. I have no need or desire to ever do yoga like the younger folks. Waking up in the morning and feeling great is more than good enough for me. If you are getting older and care for you health Bikram is a miracle "drug". Be warned that your first few 90 minute sessions will overwhelm you. Just focus on staying in the hot room and to the extent possible do a mild imitation of what the class is doing and sit on your mat and drink your water.. Fight the urge to leave and not come back.. Sign up for the 7 day for $10 and try to go every day. This is a life changing experience and I am not exagerating. Each class I found myself adapting to the heat more readily and within a period of weeks I could do my own mild imitation of the different poses without having to so sit down very much. Now I can do the entire series (badly). It is a long term thing, The good news is that from the very first session the change you feel in your body as an older person is unbelievable. My range of motion, how I carry my weight, my breathing, mental acuity etc. Most of what we think is "aging" is a loss of muscle tone and flexibility. If you make Bikram your thing you can have the functional body you had in your 20's, no exageration. That then opens the door for any other activity you want to do without soreness (gardening, biking, skiing, running etc.). I mix walking/running on the treadmill (cardio), with light weight lifting (regain lost muscle mass) and Bikram (stretching/toning). Bottom line is that we are blessed with an awesome studio in Salisbury and fantastic studios within a 30 minute drive of anywhere in the area. If you REALLy care about your health and are willing to tolerate a wonderfully intense 90 minute session a few times a week give Bikram yoga a try. Joe read more

I have never been to a yoga studio in my life, and although I always exercised, I found myself at 45 (female) having two children over 40 and now 40 pounds overwieght. I went to this yoga studio and immediately I was hooked.. superior role models as teachers and a classroom full of veterans that I aspire to be like, and "look like" someday. I have been to two other bikram studios in New Hampshire and I have to say that betwen the physicial plant and the teachers they could not compare to Bikram Seacoast. The physical plant at the seacoast is beautiful and peaceful, and the room is evanly heated throughout. The teachers are very professional and as a new comer they exerted just the right amount of help to not make me feel uncomfortable, but enough to make me think they care about me coming back and motivated me to push myself. Outstanding experience!!! The Metta Yoga Seacoast staff are extremely professional, supportive, energetic, and knowledgable. Jan (the owner) is expanding the yoga curriculum from Bikram (my favorite), to Yin, Vanyasa, and others. All I can say is my body smiles after I leave the studio. Regarding me, I am an older male with bad joints (knees and have had one hip replaced already) and the yoga (especially the Bikram) keeps me stay limber and flexible (as best as I can). I was nervous the first time I tried Bikram but I am SO glad I did. TRY THIS STUDIO! The teachers are professional, answering any questions after class. Teachers provide the challenge we are expecting but are considerate to some of us that may be having a rough day. Jan the owner shares her unique karma, giving the studio a family like camaraderie. Jan's fresh cut flowers and "yogi ish" mantra enlighten the studio and remind us to take a breath! I have been in fitness for yrs, regularly exercising and doing pilates. My son "begged" to attend a class and being the good mommy I went. It was certainly not what I thought. The studio is fabulous, clean and very warm and inviting. The owner is helpful and encouraging. I enjoyed it very much, feeling so good the next day. I attended my second class and am planning to make this a part of my routine. Not intimating at all! If you having't yogied yet, this place is by far the best bet! read more

This studio is beyond compare. The owner and her staff go to great lengths to make sure the studio is unbelievably clean. The atmosphere beyond the hot room is relaxing decorated in natural elements and candles. No detail is amiss. It's hard to believe that you are coming to do one of the most challenging forms of yoga. I started going to the studio a couple weeks ago and I just love it! All the instructors are great. They are all extremely helpful! My first day there was a great experience they were so nice, I continue to go everyday its awesome. They have showers that are clean which is great when your done sweating.
