Seriously, Burnaby is the only municipality around here that gets things right, unlike Vancouer. Cough. This place is surprisingly open all 7 days, which helps big time. Staff are friendly and helpful. They pointed me to the correct area with a smile. Seems like they actually like working here. The facility is very modern and surprisingly clean, compared to the Vancouver Transfer Station. As mentioned in the name, they also accept piles of other stuff such as yard clippings, glass, wood, and metal. Pretty much a one stop shop, so people actually have a way to get rid of stuff instead of using random fields, gutters, and bushes like in Vancouver.

We keep 6 large bins in our storage that we fill up with paper, cardboard, and shredded material and when they are full we give them a call and ask them to pick them up. Pick up is usually done the same week, but occassionally we've called later in the week and they have already done our area that week, so the pick up gets scheduled for the week following. Works out well for us. There hasn't been much of an increase in the price of the service over the years. They managed to reduce their fuel costs by adding new and more advanced trucks to their fleet, which allows them better fuel economy, so they didn't have to pass on increased costs to the customers. Great business, wonderful service, and very reasonable prices.

I took the bottles to the counter and confessed to the guy in sweet ear muffs that it was my first time, asking how best to sort the bottles. (Hey, I'm a follow-the-rules type of gal.) To make a sweeping generalization, I was expecting a grumpy-middle-age-man reply, but instead got a friendly direction to separate out the types of containers into the red trays and leave the beer bottles in their cases. As requested, I cordoned off the containers and redeemed them for the value of a coffee and muffin. True, the floor was sticky, the air stinky, and I tried desperately not to touch anything, but at least the service was friendly. Let's focus on the positive ; )

We found Adam's Junk Removal & Yard Services through Craigslist, and it was a great find!…read more Adam was able to fit us in for some junk removal with little notice (contacted him on Tuesday for junk removal on Wednesday) for our business. He gave us a quote based on some pictures we sent, and the final price wasn't very much different (we kept adding stuff to the original pictures we sent him for the quote). In the end, we found him to be reasonably priced. It's a one-man show, but Adam was able to do it all. He was professional, courteous, personable, friendly and fast!
