Dr. S patiently worked with my child's natural curiosity and was very gentle and patient. With no assistance or interference from me (although I was welcomed in the exam room, I stayed quietly in my chair and let the doc do her thing), she was able to make a visit to the dentist into a series of cute little games (e.g. before they started my child's exam, they had to brush the teeth of a stuffed animal, then once in the chair my child had to "drive" it up and down to "make sure" that it was working, and the tint to check for areas of plaque on teeth is introduced as princess lipstick). The rooms are decorated in whimsical jungle and ocean themes. They also have a selection of DVDs (viewed on ceiling-mounted TVs) to choose from - huge treat for my kiddo who does not get any of those shows at home. I don't think that my daughter ended up saying one word to the dentist, but Dr. Shahinfar was very responsive to eyes widening suddenly, nods, head shakes, etc. and was very sweet while not using baby talk. A wall full of drawings from happy patients reflects the connection she makes with her young patients. I found the support staff to be nothing but friendly and professional. (Also they make balloon animals.) The only critique I could offer is that their waiting area, while very clean, functional, and stocked with amusements, does have a very well-used feel about most of the things in it and could benefit from a little update.

They are never late, the facilities are very clean and welcoming, and everyone is very polite. I understand that parents are a bit leery about sending their kids in without being there, but it makes the situation much nicer - the rooms are somewhat small, and become too crowded when the parents are in there. Dr. Perez has always been very polite and willing to speak to my parents if they asked, but children have a tendency not to listen to the doctor when their parents are hovering over them. Dr. Perez encourages the children to understand the cleaning process on their own - perhaps it's a place better for slightly more independent children. All in all, Dr. Perez is fabulous - one of the friendliest dentists, and he's VERY, very good at his job. Always quick, I've never been there for more than thirty minutes, from parking to leaving. Both he and his hygenists are very thorough - cannot recommend them more.

You can tell he loves what he does. Not only that, but he use advance technology to make everything comfortable and convenient. X-ray pictures normally takes longer with uncomfortable big plastic in your mouth, his machine only take 30 seconds. Then he can immediately bring it up on computer screen to show you the problems and issues. In addition, he can also take picture inside your mouth to show you inside. Lastly, after he helps you, he shows you before and after pictures. The kids love going to see him because they can watch their favorite tv show or netflix movie as they sit on the chair, while he works on their teeth. About two years ago I fell and hit my front tooth, which was slightly extruded, I couldn't bite down (yes, my worst fear had come true). I didn't have a general dentist so my friend suggested I go see Dr. Zia for a consultation. I was fit in as an emergency, the office was incredibly relaxing. Dr. Zia's demeanor added to the calming atmosphere. The office is immaculate and the staff very professional and caring. The dental assistants are very gentle when taking x-rays and make sure you are comfortable. After carefully explaining what needed to be done Dr. Zia restored my front tooth back into position, this solved my temporary biting problem. My tooth still needed a root canal, but I moved to NY and sort of lost track of scheduling my next appointment. Fast forward 2 years later and there was no denying that my tooth needed the root canal since it had started to change color. I made the call and made the trip back to DC. This was my first major dental procedure and I needed it to be calm and relaxed even if it meant going back to DC. First and most importantly, the shot was painless!!! My gums were so numb from the topical and he was so gentle administering the shot that I felt nothing. It only got better, the procedure was over before I knew it because I was watching Modern Family on the ceiling T.V. He even internally bleached my tooth back to white. I was delighted to have my smile back. I suppose that training in empathy and communication skills can only go so far when you are simply unpleasant.

I mean nothing at all. I can now proudly say that "I'd rather have a root canal" while doing many of the unpleasant things that I have to do in life (waiting in line at Trader Joes, separating the trash from the recyclables, doing my tax return). Dr. Soluti is a perfectionist when it comes to his work, and you can tell. That means that he might take longer to do some things, or that he will do an x-ray several times, but don't you want perfection when it comes to someone rooting around inside your teeth? The other thing that's cool is that the office doesn't just view this as a "one and done" procedure. All of their follow-up appointments and xrays are complimentary. And apparently they keep an eye on your tooth for a couple of years. The one thing that might be better is if they had a TV that you could watch during your procedure. I know it's a little snobby, but 1.5 hours with your mouth open can get quite boring.
