Our AC motor fan had stopped working during a heatwave this week and after calling to make an appointment, I was pleasantly surprised that Adam arrived 20 min later to inspect the issue. Thankfully it was just a burnt wire, and he had fully repaired the unit and was in and out in under 30 min. Metropolitan is a very honest family owned company that we always trust to diagnose and repair HVAC issues without asking for unnecessary extra expenses. Something is sketchy with this company. They came out to evaluate my AC unit for American Home Shield Warranty. The tech Adam seemed like a nice guy and after he was done he told me the unit is rusted due to age- the AC unit is 29 years old and it needs to be replaced. But then the warranty company denied the claim saying the unit had "not normal wear and tear" due to sprinklers. It took me 2 weeks to get the tech's report (after constant phone calls) so I could see for myself, and his report said nothing about the age of the unit, nothing about the unit being beyond it's expected lifetime, but only mentioned that a "current or previous sprinkler system may have caused the rust". This is very different than what he told me in person. And there are no sprinklers on the side of the house. I have been trying for 3 weeks now to just talk to Adam to ask him if he agrees with the Warranty company that the AC has "not normal wear and tear" since this is not what he told me when he was here. The lady who answers the phone always asks me why I want to talk to Adam and then after I explain she says he is not available. I have left him multiple phone messages and emails (and her suggestion), but he is obviously avoiding me. So I suspect he knows his report is not accurate and it was manipulated to help the warranty company. I see other reviews that mention the exact same thing. read more

Tech came out, said there was a leak, said we needed new unit, as it is an older unit and having some degradation. Tried to blame it on sprinklers but there have been pavers there and no grass or sprinklers for 15+ years and the unit had been working fine well after that. Typical scam between insurance and providers to get the service fee and deny coverage. Would not use again given this situation. read more

I have been using Metropolitan Heating and Air for over 4 years now for my AC and heating repair / maintainence. These guys are super trustworthy and reliable. They always show up on time and promptly when i have an issue. One thing that really stands out is that their prices are very reasonable and they never sell me on something i don't need. A few years back, i was told by other companies that I would need a new A/C and when Metropolitan came out, they just fixed a control board in my system and the whole thing cost a fraction of the cost of a new A/C. My AC decided to break in the middle of the hot summer. I requested an AC check-up through AHS Saturday night, and then Metropolitan Heat and AC called me immediately and checked my AC on Monday afternoon. Adam and Mo were very punctual and professional. Adam diagnosed my AC on the spot. My AC condenser is broken and needs to be replaced. After one week, AHS approved their estimate and started the repair. Nas, Mo, Nas's brother, and another guy were at my place earlier than expected to replace the broken AC condenser. They were all professional and knowledgeable. My AC is now up and running. Nas was just unprofessional and unwilling to do his job. He left and nothing was done. He doesn't believe me when I say it's broken ‍ so I had to hire another company to come fix it after him. Also, if Nas is your technician, be sure to CLEAN UP YOUR HOUSE beforehand or he will JUDGE you. Oh by the way, Starlight HVAC was the company I hired after Nas, my technician immediately found the issue in the attic and fixed it. Nas didn't even go up in the attic, even after I brought my ladder for him. Nas said he hears some sounds so it's working and left. Anyway, I'm getting my money back from Metropolitan, Nas wasted a trip and his company didn't get paid. On the other hand, Sebastian from Starlight HVAC was amazing! I am updating my review back to 5 stars! Adam reached back out to me and ordered a replacement condenser top that was damaged by Nas. They covered the cost of the replacement top and installed per the OEM specs. He was very apologetic for the delayed follow up and did a great job replacing the condenser top. I contacted this company who was referred by someone. The first company I contacted a few days ago did not fix the AC problem and was extremely rude....I spoke with "Chuck" from Metropolitan heating and AC, who was very kind and professional . I explained to him that my daughter's AC has not been working for several days and I needed assistance ASAP (this was during the heatwave last week). Chuck was able to squeeze me in the following morning. Adam arrived and was the nicest, kindest and most professional HVAC tech I've ever met,...he located the issue immediately and replaced and installed a brand new thermostat and checked the system out to make sure everything worked properly... Had a technician out sent by my home warranty. The technician was nice and said I need a new unit and that my home warranty covered it. Then my home warranty called and said not covered. They told me the reason was the ac company told them it was preexisting. I called this company to figure out how they determined how long the unit has been leaking. They could not give me an answer just told me to email any questions even though I was in the phone with them. I said since I paid 125 can I at least have an estimate she said sure. It's been a month and no estimate and no reasoning behind the preexisting diagnostic. Which I have called 3 other A/C companies and they all said there is now way to tell. Which they clearly didn't want to say. They are likely told by the warranty company to say certain things to keep using them. That is sad read more

I woke up, my house freezing my heater was not working. I called Metropolitan heating and Ac because they are close. I was lucky for many reasons, one of them they were able to send me help same day and the person who came to fix my heater knew exactly what to do and fixed the issue in no time. Adam was pleasant, respectful and explained the issue to me. I am so glad I made that call and yes I will be using them again and I would recommend their service to all my friends and family. I'll try to keep this short and simple, to the point. And take this for what it is. These guys were assigned as my contractors through American home shield. I have had nothing but bad experiences with AHS, however, this company was awesome. In specific, Adam. I had to have him out a few times, none of which was his fault. I have an old system and he diagnosed it immediately and identified the issues. Some he was able to fix right away, and some were delayed due to parts on order through AHS. Adam was extremely professional, courteous and understanding. Whenever anyone contacts an AC tech, it's never an ideal time... we are uncomfortable, miserable and hot... these guys were understanding and went above and beyond to make the needed repairs. My only complaint would be that AHS didn't cover the charge for new coolant and that one was a hefty pill to swallow. In the end, I would recommend them. If you can, try to request Adam. Great technician, as many others on here have mentioned. I'll add another recommendation to the list. Thanks again Adam! read more

They did a fabulous job. My old furnace stopped working and it was 50 degrees in my house, just miserable. Metropolitan came out and replaced parts, spent time adjusting settings etc. Adam was the consummate professional. He was immaculate in uniform and personal appearance which speaks volumes and shows great pride to me. His work ethic is outstanding and he worked, having to come out twice, until everything was working to his satisfaction as well as mine. Adam was sent out through our Home Warranty Insurance company after an experience with Starlight, a scammer of a company, who misdiagnosed our heating problem & wanted to charge us separately for a problem that did not exist. Metropolitan/Adam were prompt, on time and knowledgeable. They spent about 40 min in the attic and replaced the panel right away, without delay or having to order a part etc etc. very professional, polite and courteous . I got messages confirming the appointment as well as how long it would be before they reached my house. Excellent communication. Everything works great now! read more

I will tell you that not only did Adam take excellent care of our AC, but he is a man any father would want his daughter to marry. Adam was respectful, kind, caring courteous, cheerful, clean, and just a great person. My compliments to his parents for raising a great man, and to Metropolitan Heating and Air for employing him. I had a water leak in my ceiling when I used my downstairs air conditioner so I called my warrantee company to have it repaired. They sent Metropolitan Heating and Air out to fix the problem. The tech told me that a pipe was not connected which was causing the leak. He told me that he connected it and that it was all repaired. We do not use that air conditioner much so it was not used for about a month and a half. When it was used, the leak continued and did further damage to my ceiling. I called Metropolitan to have them repair this damage but they said the job was only guaranteed for 30 days and refused to take any responsibility. I feel that a reputable company would try to correct the damage they caused by telling me the problem was fixed when it was not. I told them that I was going to write this review but they did not seem to care. read more

Scam! They were sent by home warranty. They came out for 2 minutes and told me my unit needed to be replaced and said nothing else. Home warranty called a few days later and said it's not covered because based on the report from these guys, it's not due to normal wear and tear. I was also assigned this company through home warranty and was very pleasantly surprised. A person called to schedule my repairman to be onsite the very next day arriving between 3-6pm. I received an automated text when he was on his way. Adam arrived and was very professional, wearing booties over his work shoes to enter the house. He had to climb ladder to get to the AC unit located on roof of townhouse. I described the buzzing sound and he immediately had an idea what the problem was. He inspected and confirmed that we needed a new capacitor, and had the part in his service vehicle. He replaced the capacitor, showing me the old capacitor that was replaced. From the time he arrived till the time he left was less than 20 minutes. Very happy with the service from Adam. read more

The technician seemed pretty friendly at first but were numerous issues we wanted checked out including ducts not receiving air, air quality poor, temps not reached, AC doesn't switch on. Tech ignored most and abruptly stated midway his routine it "wasn't even worth to look at it further", which seemed odd. I being a layperson, presumed it meant it was so abundantly evident he clearly knew the issue already from a 3-minute inspection instead of looking at all parts.. without checking the fan, ducts, compressor, capacitor, lines and air ducts inside! He just fixated and kept remarking on the exterior condenser coils looking weathered (my limited powers don't control weather sadly) He conveniently omits his findings, avoids stating any issue to remedy/repair- or give a written summary report- or oral- anything. We didn't even know the specific issue he found Instead, he just kept insisting we needed a new pair of units due to their age and normal wear/tear. I conceded as he was basically walking out ASAP Worse yet we were contracted through AHS (AKA the useless company that never does anything- but lie and hide behind tired customer service agents) Although told, repeatedly, there were no sprinklers near the unit operable for 14 years, the secondary unit doesn't even have water lines running near. He states everything occurring was solely due to sprinkler-caused corrosion. One of many expansive warranty exclusions, including "acts of god", is corrosion. Convenient. Waste of 100 bucks, have to pay again to get a real HVAC company to recheck all the real issues. I would never hire and even if assigned through warranty get some other dodgy company. read more
