Made three visits over the course of two months and they could not determine what was causing my skin infection. Prescribed two different antibiotics and two different creams that didn't work. Never received test results. Record of my visits were never sent to my primary care physician either. Guess it's time to seek treatment elsewhere. read more

I am NOT HAPPY!!!!!! I went into the office on Arbrook to have a small growth removed. I saw a PA and she removed the spot I went in for and several other spots and I had a biopsy and was charged a little over 400.00. TWO WEEKS later the original reason I went in was still there and I was told I would be charged again for the same procedure. I am very unhappy and since I will be charged for another visit I have decided to find a NEW dermatologist. They only care about money and not the quality of work !!!!!! read more

I have been a patient of this group for at least 10 years, as have other members of my family. On July 24, I went for an annual skin exam, and the doctor wanted to biopsy a couple of spots. The biopsy revealed an "invasive squamous cell" carcinoma and Mohs surgery was recommended. For some reason, the biopsy report was dated July 29, but I did not receive a call informing me of the results for approximately 2 weeks. During that call, I was told that I would receive a call from their Mohs surgeon to schedule the surgery. When no call was received more than a week later, I called and was told that the person I needed to talk to was not available. I left a message, but received no return call. I then called the office again and asked when I could expect a call. I told the person on the phone that if I could not get the surgery scheduled with their surgeon, that I would like my records sent to another surgeon. The next day, I received a call from the Mohs surgeon's nurse, Brittani, to schedule a consultation. I went to that appointment on September 3. The doctor recommended having the surgery within the next few weeks, and informed the nurse to get it scheduled in September. During the appointment, I was told by the doctor's assistant, Brittani, that she would call me by the end of business that day to schedule the surgery. I did not receive a call. I called the office on September 5, but was told that Brittani was with a patient and could not talk. I again left a message. Since I did not receive a call back by September 9, I went to their office to find out what the issue was, but could not get any information. I finally received a call from Brittani on September 10 during which she told me that they did not have a surgery schedule, and she could not schedule the surgery. She said I could wait but did not give me any time expectancy. During this experience, I was also given conflicting information about why I was not receiving calls in response to my messages. For example, when I called on September 5, I was told Brittani was with a patient, but when I mentioned to the receptionist that I did not receive a return call, she said that Brittani was not working on September 5. That told me that there was a bad phone screening process in place. What I always thought was a good practice has seemingly changed. Because of this experience, I will not be going back. read more

When I called to make an appointment as a first time patient to see Dr. David Hensley I was told that he was booked out for several months and that I could see his PA instead. I had read good reviews about Dr Hensley and wanted to see him specifically so I went ahead with making the appointment. I was sent text reminder notifications leading up to my appointment and looked forward to my visit. The day of my appointment I was running late and called and told them I would be late. They informed me that there was a grace period and advised that if I was over the 15 minute grace period that I wouldn't be able to see Dr. Hensley. I rushed to get to my 9:30 appointment and arrived at NINE FORTY TWO - during the grace period. The receptionist had a terrible attitude and said "did you fill out the paperwork that we sent through text and email". I did not get an email and I pulled out my phone and showed her my text messages which did not include links to any paperwork. She then told me it would take too long to fill it out and that I couldn't see the doctor again, but could see his PA. I had waited months just to see the doctor specifically so I declined. I have now received a $50 "missed appointment" fee in the mail that I will NEVER pay. I am absolutely disgusted by the petty receptionist for even filing this and will dispute it until it is rectified. When I called to say I was late, why was the paperwork not mentioned? Could've saved me the drive and the time I took from my job. Shame on this business! Terrible attitude and terrible experience for a potential customer/client. I will be posting my review on all sites and social media and have also filed a complaint with several boards. On another note, Metroplex dermatology has a slew of physicians but not one of them are black/African American (just as another reviewer stated). In fact, there is not one other race represented among their physicians - not even Asian or Hispanic. I find this to be very surprising because when it comes to a business that focuses on skincare I expect there to be diversity among the staff. Very disappointed with my first botox to get rid of frown lines. When telling them the lines were still very visible they told me I would have to schedule and pay for more botox. If it was going to take more than one visit I should have been told that. Also very hard to talk to anyone when you call. You always get voice mail and they take forever to return your call. Let me begin by saying my family have been associated with this office since 2006. And I pride myself on finding great care and loyalty to skilled professionals. More recently I have been a bit disappointed with certain elements of service at this office (Arlington, TX). I feel that Dr. Hensley and PA-Brandt (Rich) are quite knowledgeable and through in terms of dermatological treatment. And they both exhibit a genuine and kind interest in you as a person. If you are looking for excellent customer care in their medical profession, Maria, Misti and Miriam are the ones that have rendered it. Kudos to you!! Here are the issues I've faced over the last 8 months. (1) Once diagnosed, I contacted my insurance, and they told me that the procedure was not covered. So, I paid for each visit out of pocket, starting in May 2022. Only to find out that the office was billing my insurance as well. I had no knowledge of this until 6/24/22. When my FSA asked for reimbursement due to duplicate payments. I contacted Metroplex and was told I had a credit. Still can't understand why, upon check-out no one said anything and kept collecting payments from me. My FSA was suspended for 2 weeks until the issue was resolved, and Maria refunded my card. (2) Back in November 2022 I had a biopsy and was scheduled for suture removal 2 weeks later. Eric read me the pathology report. When I questioned what the results were based upon: since nothing that was mentioned was ever something that I did, I was met with the stereotype that all African-American people wear weave, braids and pull their hair up tight in buns. When I asked to speak with PA-Brandt (Rich). Eric told me that I had to make an appointment, my visit was only for suture removal. Then I could discuss the other treatment plan that was being offered as well. When I asked, why wasn't the appointment scheduled for both the suture removal and a discussion of the biopsy, Eric told me I can make an appointment if PA-Brandt (Rich) had an opening, and it would probably be free. And escorted me to the ladies in scheduling. Let's add insult to injury here. My time meant nothing! Unhappy, frustrated and confused about which direction to go in, I called the office on Nov. 21st , spoke with Misti and related my concerns. She assured me that she would have someone to call me. On Nov. 22nd Eric called and left a message for me to call the office back. When I did, he repeated the same pathology report as though I did not understand it. I asked to speak to PA-Brandt(Rich) and Eric told me he was at lunch. I asked to leave a message for him to call me after lunch. Some days later I received a call from Jessica. (Who was very, as a matter of fact.) I asked her why after two attempts to speak with PA-Brandt(Rich) I had not received a call, so told me that she received the message and her team was handling it. And again, for the third time, repeated the pathology findings. UNBELIEVEABLE! Reluctantly, I kept my Dec. 2022 appointment with Misti and she told me not to give up and to bring my concerns to Dr. Hensley. (3) On January 2023 I came in to see Dr. Hensley and find a new practice. I was greeted with a warm and welcoming good morning from the two ladies at the front desk. Only to hear them discussing other clints who refused or gave push back about filing out a NEW emergency contact form. Rather than explaining to clints that the form was a HIPPA/Medicare requirement. So unprofessional! Once in the waiting room surprise, Miriam asked what brought me to the office? After telling her my experience, she said her goal was to make my visit a pleasant one. What a nice surprise, and it was! Dr. Hensley confirmed that what Eric, and Jessica recited from the pathology report had nothing to do with anything that I was doing or not doing, simple hereditary. I had questions about another medication I was slated to start, Miriam conferred with Dr. Hensley and he agreed to research the medication to see if I could proceed. Miriam called me back the same day. WOW, someone, did what they said! This was my review, maybe you can use it in determining the best dermatology practice for you. If not, perhaps management will use it to make improvements, re-train staff on customer service, professionalism and sensitivity, and how to avoid stereotyping. read more

Had some out patient surgery done along with a biopsy. Made the appointment the day before; in other words they got me in quickly. Everything went well. The medical staff was friendly and professional. Upon leaving I was charged almost $400 for the visit. I knew they accepted my insurance but assumed the charge was for what the insurance didn't cover. A week later I received an EOB from my insurer. It said all I owed was a $60 copay. I called and spoke with Metroplex Dermatology's billing department. Was told they always charge the patient the entire cost up front, even with accepted and pre authorized insurance. Said I'd eventually be getting a refund once they actually receive payment from the insurance company. This seems adverse to how my other medical providers handle it. I usually pay the copay and get billed for what's not covered. Paying up front may not be for everyone. read more

Shady practices! Had yearly skin check and told doctor about a sun spot on my leg that was annoying me. She immediately pulled out a cryogenic freeze canister and used it on spot. Zero mention of it being a charged procedure. When I went to check out I was charged $188! Surprise! I won't deal with clinics and practices that are not upfront about these things and will never return. read more

I had a wonderful time at MetroplexDerm's anniversary sale last night. This highly attended, exclusive event was so much fun! The Roaring 20's theme created a lot of excitement and the staff looked amazing in their costumes. Even Dr. Hensley was looking very dapper in his suit. Product reps were on-hand doing live demonstrations of laser treatments and answering questions on skin care products. Of course, Bethany is my fav at MD and she was super helpful in recommending the best cosmetic treatment and package for my skin tone and texture. If you are a patient of MD and receive an invitation to this exclusive, super-fun event, you should definitely attend! Not only did they offer special discounts on products and skin treatments, they offered cupcakes (I wish I had taken a picture of the cupcake table!) appetizers, punch, and sparking wine. I was having my 3rd and last laser peel treatment. Dr. Hensley was saying things to the assistant which made it sound like he didn't know what he was doing. Later that I was in extreme pain and then around 1:00 in the morning I got up and two temples and one cheek was oozing with a liquid. I went to go see a PA in their office the next morning. I wanted to speak to her alone without any one else in the top. (Like a scribe or nurse) and I was denied. I also refused for them to take pictures but they had someone standing outside the door so when o walked out they took pictures. This is a total breach of confidentiality and HIPPA. Then I went to another dr and have found out I have 2nd degree burns on my one cheek and two temples. Do not go to them. They do not follow HIPPA guidelines and then the dr gives burns due to not knowing how to work the machine. read more

I have been a patient for about 10 years and been happy with the service provided for moles and other skin issues. More recently I have had facial treatments with great results. Today I went by the office and asked for digital copies of my facial before/after photos emailed to me. I only wanted the photos, not printed copies and not a copy of my full and complete medical records. When I called yesterday I was advised I had to sign a release to obtain the records, however, today I was advised it would cost me $25 for the photos. Upon further questioning I was advised the records would be shared with another physician's office at no charge, but the same courtesy was not available to me. Again I was not asking for a detailed, printed version of my records. I simply wanted the "before" photos from my last visit in June in a digital format. A simple click and send! I asked to speak to the Office Manager, explained my request again of simple digital copies of the photos and she flat refused. I spent $2700 for treatment, but she stated I have no right to the photos. I asked who else I could speak to, and she told me there was no one else. I asked to speak to Dr. Hemsley, and she told me it would do no good. I was hot, extremely upset, and this woman had no regard for my request, my history as a longstanding customer or my issue. I refused to pay the fee and left the office stating her policy was "bull****." Definitely a poor customer experience. read more

They will charge you for multiple visits, with zero results. They will send your blood samples to a third party which will also charge you horrific amounts for those samples. They were unprepared to what bacteria I had even after I paid $375 for those samples, only for them still to be uniformed. The last appointment they charged me $95 to give me more of the same antibiotics for 7 days and refer me to a general surgeon, because they weren't going to be able to fix the issue. Be aware they will try and keep charging you for things you don't necessarily need (like numbing agents when you already told them you're not feeling any pain whatsoever) read more

Bethany is THE BEST!! I drove 3 hours to see her to get Botox and I will continue to drive to see her! I have had two other experiences that entirely turned me off to ever getting it again, but after emailing and then talking with Bethany, I realized that she really cares about her clients and she is beyond knowledgeable and professional. I have psoriasis, and the physician wasn't able to improve my symptom for 2 years. Moreover, the staff's working system is unprofessional and inefficient. I went on 3 months without a medication as they were going to get me a new medication. Not only my psoriasis got worse, but also I didn't receive my medication, and there were many complications such as missing lab works and wrong pharmacies to the point that I myself have to call my insurance and the medication company. I went in to get my skin tags frozen/removed at a price I was told over the phone, and that was all I needed to pay. Then I get there, and I have to pay a doctor visit, then I have to have one skin tag treated different cuz it was a wart, which they freeze them all anyway, and after paying the 255, I still didn't get my skin tags treated cuz didn't have the 199 I was told over the phone to pay for it from the get go. I get that doctors can't really afford to spend more than 5 or 10 minutes max with patients these days. But I can't be the first person who has asked what sort of skin care products I should be using at my age and with my skin condition. If you don't have the time to discuss specific products and treatments and you can't be bothered to write up some literature to hand out to patients with specific needs, then what good are you?
