Secondly the bowling shoes are rather old and smelly, once again cleaning and buying new shoes in something the owners should look into. Thirdly this place is dark and dingy. I wouldn't be surpr if any dubious happenings took place! Last but not least it is not a mistake if your bowl and then the cones don't come down. Seems like everything doesn't work or is just old.

I want to say 'drive by' but it doesn't seem appropriate - you get what I mean. Go up there with a group, forget about the germs, have a good time, have a few drinks and you'll be right as rain.

We showed up on an easy going Thursday night around 7pm to be told a lane wouldn't be ready until 10pm for our group. Understandably we needed 2 lanes, but even when we dropped the numbers for one lane- we were advised "we should have booked ahead". The bar also does good deals on drinks and a Happy Hour- they even bring them to your bowling lane! It's close to home, offers a great rate per game plus sells some delicious wedges with bacon, cheese and sour cream and chives. The wedges are a perfect pre game treat that gives you energh to beat your opponent. I went there with a church group and we had a great time, the competitive spirit was welcomed. We did not get any funny looks for cheering each other on and the staff even laughed and clapped when we sung to encourage each other.

The greens are all weather and very similar to our indoor greens. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon and although no other Ponsonby bowls members were there, Tash and the Bowls New Zealand staff who are housed in the same complex looked after us and made us very welcome.

What I don't like about Manukau Tenpin is that the lanes are pretty narrow, it just really irks me. It takes a couple of tries for me before I get used to the lanes here. I suppose I've forgiven them for this since you can play two games for the price of one ($12 for an adult, which is an amazing price), so it's super handy if you're battling your friends for bowling supremacy. They cater pretty well for groups here and they've always got quite a few staff on, so you always get your food quickly and lane troubles are usually solved in a few short minutes. I'd suggest booking ahead on weekends, because you never know when its going to be packed here, so avoid disappointment. A good addition to the area and a great price to have some fun with friends and family.
